住み始めて初めての年には、熟したさくらんぼが多少は残っていましたが、ここ何年かは熟す前にみんなリスなどに食べられてしまいます。
ブルーベリーも初年はたくさん実をつけて複数のビンにジャムが作れました。
それもここ何年かは1ビンのジャムができるかできないかくらいの量しか収穫できなくなりました。
秋には栗も実るようになり、それもリスに狙われます。
今年は、コロナウィルス (COVID-19) のために、Rが英国へ戻らず、ずっと日本で過ごしています。
今年の庭は彼の領域なので、リスと植物の収穫をめぐって争っています(笑)。
さくらんぼは、まあ、いいか〜と多めに見ていた彼も、ブルーベリーに至っては、かなり真面目に、箒(ホウキ）を持って戦って？いました。
In the first year of our life here, some ripe cherries remained, but for the past few years, every one has been eaten by squirrels before they ripen.
Blueberries also bear a lot of fruit in the first year and jams were made in a few bottles.
Over the last few years, I've only been able to harvest as much as one bottle of jam.
This year, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), R hasn't returned to Britain and has been living in Japan.
This year's garden is his realm, so he has been fighting for squirrels about plant harvests (Laugh).
He overlooks about the cherries, although he was fighting seriously with a broom when it came to blueberries.

| 4月28日 ムクドリ(椋鳥)のカップルを見つけました。 最近は、ムクドリの大群が糞と鳴き声が問題になっています。 少ない数なら問題なさそうに思えます。 湘南にはトンビが多いせいか大群は見ません。 鎌倉山にはフクロウもいますので、ムクドリにとっては そんなに安心できる場所ではないでしょう。 28th of April I found a couple of White-cheeked Starlings. Recently, people have been worried about droppings and noise by hordes of White-cheeked Starlings. It seems that there is no problem if the number is small. I don't see a large group probably because there are many Black Kites in Shonan. ムクドリはもともとは、農作物に害を及ぼす虫を食べる益鳥とされていましたが、土地開発によって住む場所を追われ、都会にやってきたのです。
大群になると迷惑な鳥で、各地で対応策が取られています。
ですが、彼らの身になって考えると、人間とは勝手な生き物ですね。
Originally, White-cheeked Starlings were considered to be profitable birds that eat insects that are harmful to crops, but land development has forced them to live in the city.
It is an annoying bird when it becomes a horde, and countermeasures are taken in various places.
However, when I think in their place, humans are selfish creatures.

R's Nemesis
There are Taiwanese squirrels in Kamakurayama since we started living here, but I feel that they are increasing year by year.
