Sightseeing ; After Museum

These photographs in this section were taken on our way back to the car park(Avon Street Car Park) after the Holburne Museum .

We passed this church many times by R's car, but I never visited inside.
I would visit here, although this time I could not make it.

City of Bath
A photograph of Bath was displayed in the show window of an estate agent,
and I photographed.
The photograph has a reflection,
but I tried because I can't photograph the city from this angle.

Royal Mineral Hospital :
Is it a hospital that has this name due to the influence of Roman Baths? I thought.
That guess was not wrong.
The hospital was founded in 1738 as "The Mineral Water Hospital".
It was designed by John Wood the Elder (1704  - 1754)
and was built with Bath stone.
The hospital moved to a new building at Royal United Hospital site in 2019.
The historic building was purchased
by the hotel company (Fragrance Group) in 2018.
It will be a luxurious hotel here some years later.

I can imagine the old townscape.

Crenellated
I thought that it is similar to the top of a castle or tower,
or to a chess rook, and I photographed.
I found out it is described as crenellated or castellated.
Actually, I have seen walls with similar shapes,
even in Kamakura, though the materials are different.

Kingsmead Square
John Strahan(? - 1740)

Kingsmead Square
Kingsmead Square in Bath, Somerset, England was laid out
by John Strahan (? - 1740) in the 1730s.
Many of the houses are listed buildings.
The origins of the square was as the junction of a number of routes
entering the West Gate of the medieval city.

Under the Tree
My camera was attracted by different foods and I got a photo without focus.
It is funny that it seems to see my mental state, when I am in front of food.

I think this square was shown on some postcards of Bath.

 Design by John Strahan (? - 1740)
Rosewell House is Grade I listed building as
the outstanding example of a Baroque town house.
(Kingsmead Square)

View with Arch
Somehow I like the view of an arched building.
I think that it feels as if the air is blowing through.
I like the line of an arch because the flow does not stop.

Sainsbury's
    Former Green Park Railway Station

Sainsbury's
The former Green Park Railway Station is the gateway to Sainsburys.
The car park is behind, so the gateway is only used by those who come on foot.

John Holloway Sanders (1825 - 1884)

Former Green Park Railway Station
Sainsbury's is a popular supermarket in Britain.

The supermarkets I used most from Wimbledon's English school time to Bath Spa University time were both Sainsbury's.

Sainsbury's in Bath was far from the house I rented, but I used to use Sainsbury's in Bath because I only shopped when R came from London by his car.

Sainsbury's in Bath uses the grounds of the former Green Park Station.

The shop layout is the same as usual, but the atmosphere of the platform etc. remains and the front of the shop has a different atmosphere from other Sainsbury's.

Today's British home is in Wimbledon and I've come to use  Waitrose
 (supermarket) more often instead.

The original name was Avon Bridge, now Sainsbury's Bridge.

The parapet of the bridge is a "lattice girder"
It is an iron structure, the latticed bars to be stiffened in the third dimension.

The Sainsbury's  Bridge spans the  River Avon.
The bridge which used to be for trains,
is now a road with a pavement.

I often see swans on British rivers.

I feel swans are used to people.
Once I saw swans walking on the road, causing a traffic jam.
People waited with the feeling "I can't help it...".
In the end, two young men gently chased them.

These swans weren't scared of the boat either.
Did you rely on food?

C. "Green Park Station"

The station is used for a car park, but not only that, it has a variety of shops.
This corner is named "Green Park Station" which
comes from the original station name.

I can imagine it was a railway station.

Beautiful Roof
I am impressed that they are using old things well.
Maybe it's all new, but it's lovely to value the atmosphere.

Since R is a record fan, he was very interested in this shop.
