あけまして、おめでとうございます。

ブログを更新せず、とても溜めたまま、2025年になってしまいました。

'今' をキャッチできるように、少しづつはじめることから心がけます。

お正月の花
初めて、お正月の花を日比谷花壇で注文しました。

which is a long established flower business.

I haven't updated my blog and it's piled up, so now it's already 2025.

は、無事終了いたしました。過去最高の来場者を迎えました。

My exhibition,

I had the highest number of visitors to date.

ブログの更新を2022年10月からしていません。

私の怠慢、そのほかの事情で止まっていました。

そのうえ、昨年春より、2024年の個展へ向けての制作をしており、ブログまで手が回っていません。

2024年4月の個展終了後に、更新したいと思っています。

2年も遅れての更新となりますが、一歩一歩すすめ、今年中には、

なんとか、"今" に追いつきたいと考えています。

Blog

I haven't updated my blog since October 2022.

I stopped due to my negligence and other reasons.

Since last spring I have been working for the Exhibition in 2024, 

so I haven't managed to get around to blogging.

I would like to update it after the Exhibition ends in April 2024.

Although the updates will be two years late, I would like to move forward step by step and somehow catch up to "the current time" by the end of this year.

2023年2月5日 フルーツサラダ / Fruit Salad, 5th of February, 2023

フルーツサラダ / Fruit Salad

夫Rがフルーツサラダを作ります。

いつもありがとう！

今日は、いちごにハート型のビスケットが添えられていました。

結婚記念日が近いので、そんなデザインになったのかしら？と思います。

それとも、いちごだけでちょっと寂しかったので、'おまけ'　としてのビスケットだったのでしょうか？

ちなみにこのビスケットは、友人Kさんからのプレゼントでした。

ありがとうございました。

Fruit Salad

My husband R makes a fruit salad.

Thank you as always!

Today, he served strawberries with heart-shaped biscuits.

I wonder if he chose that design because our wedding anniversary is coming up?

Or maybe the strawberries alone were a little lonely, so the biscuits were added as a 'bonus'?

By the way, these biscuits were a gift from our friend K.

食器のテーストがばらばらで笑ってしまいますが私としては、
それぞれの食器に思い出があります。
紅茶もRが淹れてくれます。
ありがとう！

The tastes of the dishes are all so different it's amusing,

 but for me, each one has its own memories.

R also makes the tea.

ゆずアイスクリーム
私が作ったゆずアイスクリームです。
アイスが苦手なRですが、このアイスクリームは
彼のお気に入りです。

Yuzu Ice Cream
This is yuzu ice cream that I made.
R doesn't like ice cream, but this is his favourite.

明日から、私達は、'結婚10周年記念・アートの旅' に出かけます。

Starting tomorrow, we will embark on our '10th Wedding Anniversary Art Journey'.

奥田美紀(オクダミキ/ ?~)さんからの彼女のカレンダーが届きました。

実は、私は奥田美紀さんにお会いしたことがありません。

ですが、夫Rは、はじめて日本へ来た際に、私の神戸の友人Tさんを通して、彼女に会ったことがあります。

Tさんは、夙川 (シュクガワ/ 兵庫県西宮市) で、明石焼きのお店 - 

"貴味蛸 (キミタコ)" を経営しています。

私が神戸に住んでいた時から家族ぐるみでお付き合いしています。

"貴味蛸"の看板の絵を描かせていただいたり、年賀状を制作したりしていました。

今でも、その絵をロゴ扱いしてくださり、看板やお店の記念品などに使用していただいています。

ありがとうございます。

私がイラストレイターとして独り立ちをし、東京へ移った頃、年賀状制作をおろさせていただきました。

その年賀制作を引き継いでくださったのが、奥田美紀さんでした。

英国在住中の私が一時帰国をし、個展開催準備をしている間に、Rは関西旅行を一人でしました。

一人でと言っても、旅行中、私の友人達が彼の世話をし、Tさんも

その一人でした。

美紀さんは、英語が堪能なので、二人の通訳として、呼ばれたようでした。

その際は、Rがお世話になり、ありがとうございました。

それをきっかけとして、私が本帰国後、郵便を通してだけですが、

おつきあいを続けています。

奥田美紀さんのカレンダー
素敵なカレンダー、魅力的な絵です。
奥田美紀さんと漢字は違うけれど、同じ名前の
イラストレイターさんが複数いらっしゃるようです。

Miki Okuda's Calendar

A lovely calendar, with fascinating illustrations.

Although the Kanji are different, there seem to be

 several illustrators with the same name as Miki Okuda.

Calendar

I received a calendar from Miki Okuda (?~).

Actually, I have never met Miki Okuda.

However, my husband R met her through my friend T in Kobe when 

R first came to Japan.

T runs an Akashiyaki restaurant called "Kimitako" in Shukugawa, Nishinomiya City, Hyōgo Prefecture.

According to Wiki Akashiyaki,

"Akashiyaki (明石焼き) is a small round dumpling from the city of Akashi in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. "

I have known T's family since I lived in Kobe.

I drew the signboard of "Kimitako" and made their New Year's cards.

Even now, they still use the picture as their logo on their sign and restaurant commemorative items.

When I became independent as an illustrator and moved to Tokyo, 

I asked to stop producing New Year's cards.

It was Miki Okuda who took over the New Year's card production.

While I was living in the UK and returned to Japan temporarily to prepare for my exhibition, R went on a trip to Kansai by himself.

Although I say 'by himself', my friends looked after him during his trip, and T was one of them.

Miki is fluent in English, so she was called in to act as an interpreter for the two of them.

I would like to thank Miki for taking care of him on that occasion.

Since then, we have continued to keep in contact, albeit only through the mail, since I returned to Japan permanently.

2) おせち料理購入 

     Purchase New Year's Meal

今回のおせち料理は、すべて購入しました。

まるごろおせち料理を購入したのは、初めてでした。

年末年始、母が滞在して、私の負担が増えるので、自分の負担を減らすために、購入しました。

また、JALのマイレージポイントが、中途半端で貯まっていたので、それを使用する目的も、この購入ではたしました。

和洋おせち
箱を持つと、冷たい！
冷凍状態で届き、ちょっと驚きました。
随分前ですが、母がフランス料理のおせちをレストランに注文した際には、
常温で届いていました。
規模がちがうのでしょうし、時代も違いますからね。

Japanese and Western New Year Meal : Osechi

When I picked up the box, it was cold!

I was a little surprised to see that it arrived frozen.

A long time ago,  my mother ordered a French New Year's Meal : Osechi

 from a restaurant, it arrived at room temperature.

I guess the scale is different, and times are different too.

Purchase New Year's Meal

I purchased all of the New Year's Meal : Osechi this time.

According Wiki about Osechi, 

"Osechi-ryōri (御節料理, お節料理 or おせち) are traditional 

Japanese New Year foods. 

Osechi are easily recognizable by their special boxes called 

jūbako (重箱), which resemble bentō boxes."

It was my first time purchasing an entire New Year's Meal : Osechi-ryōri.

My mother would be staying with me over the New Year holidays, which would increase my workload, so I purchased these to reduce my own burden.

I also had some JAL mileage points saved up, so this purchase fulfilled my purpose of using them.

自分が作ったり、盛り付けたりするおせち料理とは
明らかに違い、嬉しい驚きを感じます。
各箱には、硬い透明なプラスティックの蓋がついています。

So Luxurious!
It is clearly different from the New Year's Meal
 I make and arrange myself, and I am pleasantly surprised.
Each box has a hard clear plastic lid.

母が一緒でなければ、決して注文しなかった、丸ごとのおせち料理です。

これを経験できること、母に感謝です。

お母さん、ありがとう！

This was a whole New Year's Meal, something I would never have ordered if my mother hadn't been there.

I'm grateful to my mother for giving me this experience.

 家族の来訪 / Family Visits

今日、私と夫Rは、三人のゲストを迎えました。

母、姉、甥です。

昨日、姉Yが母を迎えにゆき、本日、甥Sの運転で鎌倉までやってきました。

YとSは、本日帰りますが、母は、2022年12月29日 から2023年1月3日まで、我が家に滞在します。

Nファミリーから頂いたケーキをお福分しました。

We shared the cake we received from the N family.

Family Visits

Today, my husband R and I welcomed three guests.

My mother, my older sister Y, and my nephew S.

Yesterday, Y visited our mother, and today S drove them to Kamakura.

Y and S are returning home today, but my mother will be staying with us from 29th of December, 2022 to 3rd of January, 2023.

料理も私の作品と呼べるでしょうか？

母とSは、炭酸のりんごジュースで乾杯しました。

Toasting
 R, Y and I toasted with champagne, 
and my mother and S toasted with sparkling apple juice.

家族一同集まることは、なかなかありません。

一同ではないにしても、何人かが集まって、食事ができるということは、幸せなことだと思います。

It's rare that we can all get together as a family.

I think it's a happy thing that even if we can't all be together, some of us can get together and have a meal.

12月24日、クリスマス・イヴに、鎌倉の友人カップルH & TJをお招きしました。

以前よりも、お会いする機会がなくなってしまったので、この日、たくさんお話をしました。

我が家に犬をいれられないので、お二人は愛犬のKohakuくんを自宅に置いていらっしゃいました。

気がかりだったと思います。ご協力、ありがとうございました。

クリスマスイヴの朝
12月24日7時前

Morning of Christmas Eve
Before 7:00 on 24th of December

 Invite H & TJ

On 24th of December, Christmas Eve, we invited our friends from Kamakura, H & TJ.

We don't get to see each other as often as we used to, so we had a lot to talk about that day.

Since we are not allowed to bring dogs into our house, the couple left their beloved dog Kohaku at home.

I'm sure they were worried about him. 

Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you, Kohaku, for staying at home.

乾杯と前菜
乾き物の前菜は、大皿にのせました。
H & TJは、くせのあるチーズが好きなのですが、
夫Rがその手のチーズは苦手です。
一番クセがあるチーズとして、スモーキーカマンベールチーズを
お出しました。

Toasts and Starter 
The dried appetizers were served on a large platter.

H & TJ like strong-flavored cheeses, 

but my husband R doesn't like that kind of cheese.

I served smoky camembert as the cheese with the strongest flavour.

サラダ3種 ; にんじんサラダ, ツナとアボガドサラダは、ポテトサラダは、別々の小鉢で出しました。

Three kinds of salad ; carrot salad, tuna and avocado salad, and potato salad were served in separate small bowls.

恒例のローストチキン
毎年、レシピが違います。

Regular Roast Chicken
Every year the recipe is different.

ロールキャベツのグラタン
ロールキャベツを野菜ソースで煮込んで、グラタンにしました。

Cabbage Roll Gratin
I stewed cabbage rolls in a vegetable sauce and made a gratin.

H & TJ、お忙しい中、いらしていただき、ありがとうございました。

楽しい晩でした。

近いうちに、鎌倉から引っ越しをされると聞きました。

寂しくなりますね。

引っ越し後も、お会いできますように！

Thank you H & TJ for taking time out of your busy schedules to come.

It was a fun evening.

We heard you'll be moving from Kamakura soon.

1日中、二人ですごすクリスマスです。

新しい料理もせず、ゆるりと過ごします。

It's Christmas and we spend the whole day together.

We don't cook any new dishes and just relax.

とってもオーソドックスなクリスマスの景色が
立体になっています。
おしゃれだったり、可愛かったりするカードも素敵ですが、
こうゆう雰囲気のものもたまにはいいですね。
R、ありがとう！
私はカードを用意していませんが、お料理を作っているので、
それでよしとさせてください。

Christmas Card From R

It's a three-dimensional representation of a very traditional Christmas scene.

Stylish and cute cards are great, but it's nice to have something 

with this kind of atmosphere once in a while.

"虹" を運ぶオーメント
リヴィング・ルームのクリスマス・ツリーには、

スワロフスキーの '雪の結晶' のオーナメントを使用しています。

私は、このガラス製のオーナメントのコレクションを

長くしています。

現在、その数は20を超えています。

時々そのオーナメントが反射して屋内に虹色の光を作ります。

Ornament Carrying a "Rainbow"

The Christmas tree in the living room is hung 

with Swarovski 'Snowflake' ornaments.

I have a long collection of these glass ornaments.

I currently have over 20 of them.

Sometimes they refract light and 

create rainbows of colours in the room.

小さな喜び

私達はその光をさまざまな場所で見つけ、

喜びます。

Small Joys

We find that light in many different places and rejoice.

クリスマス・ツリーの影
モンステラと影が重なって面白いな〜と思い、撮影しました。
この写真の上部にも、虹色の光が見られます。

Christmas Tree Shadow
I thought it was interesting how the shadow of the tree overlapped
 with the Monstera, so I photographed.
You can also see the lights of rainbow colours
at the top of this photograph.

を思い起こします。

This reminds me of "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
[1993 / Tim Burton  (1958 ~)].

フルーツサラダは彼が担当し、多くの場合、
タイトルやテーマがあります。
これは何かな？
答え：クリスマスオーナメント。

He is responsible for the fruit salads and
they often have a title or theme.
What does this have ?
Answer : Christmas ornament.

B. クリスマスの光を楽しむ 

     Enjoying the Christmas Lights

夜になると、クリスマス・ライトが映え、グラスや窓ガラスへの

リフレクション効果も上がります。

At night, the Christmas lights shine brightly and the reflective effect on glass and windows is even greater.

大きなイベントはないけれど、二人で静かに過ごした良いクリスマスでした。

幸せを感じる日でした。

Although there weren't any big events, it was a good, quiet Christmas just the two of us.

It was a day that made us feel happy.
