Studio, 'Space K'
2024年の次回の個展で、私は、展示の1つに、パネルばりを考えていました。
以前、額装だけでなく、パネルばりの作品を展示したことがありましたが、額装の会社に注文しました。
その代金が思ったよりもずっと高くてびっくりしました。
後に、特注のサイズでしたし手間がかかるので、その代金は妥当なものでした。
ですが、自分でパネル張りはできるのではないかと思い始めたのです。
タマビの友人、キヨちゃん (岡田希代子さん) は、裝裱 / 表装 (ヒョウソウ) を学んでいることを知り、彼女に教えてもらえるか聞き、承諾を得ました。
キヨちゃんは、承諾してくださり、ありがとうございました。

この日は、夫Rとともに、'スペース Ｋ' へ場所の確認と挨拶に行きました。
彼女は、人と人を結ぶ役が自分の天職だと思っていて、結ぶ場の1つとして 'スペースＫ'を考えていると聞きました。
彼女はいろいろなことを同時進行で進めていますが、その土台には、確固たる信念があるのを感じます。

Studio・ 'Space K'
For my next exhibition in 2024, I am thinking of using paneling, rather than framing, for some of my exhibits.
I had previously exhibited works that were not only framed but also paneled, but I ordered them from a framing company.
I was surprised that the cost was much higher than I had expected.
Later, I noticed that the cost was reasonable, since they were custom sizes it would be a lot of work.
However, I began to think that maybe I could do the panelling myself.
When I was a student in Tama Art University : Tamabi, I would stretch to paper with gumstick tape for drawing practice pieces, but I had never panelized my main works (paintings, prints, etc.) after graduating.
I found out that Kiyo chan (Kiyoko Okada), a friend from Tamabi, is studying mounting: Hyosou : 裝裱 / 表装, so I asked her if she could teach me, and she agreed.
Hyosou "is a Chinese specialized framing method for paintings and calligraphy on rice papers.
Materials include colored papers, fabrics, threads, wooden sticks, and glue, among others". (from Wki)

I decided to make the panels in the studio, 'Space Ｋ' that she runs in Asakusa-bashi, Tokyo.

On this day, I and my husband R would visit Kiyo chan in the studio to check out the location.
I heard that she believes her calling is to connect people, and that she sees Space K as one of the places where she can do this.
She is working on many different things at the same time, but I get the sense that her foundation is a firm belief.

スタジオに入ると、すぐに、キヨちゃんの作品が目に入りました。
その作品は、2019年10月に開催された彼女の個展の作品でした。
個展については下記。
彼女は、屏風制作のほかに、興味があれば、さまざまなことに参加し、制作しています。
彼女のフットワークの軽さとバイタリティは、私達の年代の年を感じさせません。
彼女は、心身ともに、良い意味で若いのです。

Young
As soon as we entered the studio, I saw Kiyo Chan's work.
The piece was from her exhibition held in October 2019.
About the Exhibition below,
In addition to creating folding screens, she participates in and creates a variety of projects if she finds them interesting.
According to Wiki about Folding Screen : 屏風 (Byoubu) in Japanese,
"A folding screen, also known as pingfeng is a type of free-standing furniture consisting of several frames or panels, which are often connected by hinges or by other means.
They have practical and decorative uses, and can be made in a variety of designs with different kinds of materials. "
Her agility and vitality make her seem younger than our age.
She is young in body and mind, in a good sense.
B. ドテラ / dōTERRA
キヨちゃんは、'ドテラ / dōTERRA' のエッセンシャルオイルの販売をしています。
私の印象としては、販売というよりも、ドテラの活動をしているという表現のほうが合っているように思います。
それは、商品による利益としての販売よりも、彼女の思想による行動だと私がとらえているからだと思います。
私は香り製品は好きなのですが、Rの香りの好みが極端に狭いのでドテラの会員にはなっていません。
また私は、基本的に何かの団体に所属することを避けてもいます。
ですが、彼女の活動は応援しています。

dōTERRA
Kiyo Chan sells dōTERRA essential oils.
My impression is that it would be more appropriate to say that she is engaged in doTERRA activities rather than selling products.
I think this is because I see her actions as being driven by her philosophy, rather than selling products to make a profit.
I like scented products, but R's scent preferences are extremely narrow, so I am not a member of dōTERRA.
I also basically avoid joining any organizations.
However, I support her activities.
C. ネットワーク / Network
私達が、'スペースＫ'を訪ねた時、タマビの友人、
堀内君 (堀内 肇 / ホリウチハジメ氏) の作品が額装を終えて届いていました。
彼に作品依頼をしたのも、額装をデザインし、発注したのもキヨちゃんでした。
堀内君は、グラフィックデザイナーであり、書家 (グラフィカル書家) です。

Network
When we visited 'Space K', a work by Horiuchi Kun (Hajime Horiuchi) another friend from Tamabi had just been framed and arrived.
It was Kiyo Chan who asked him to create the work, designed the frame, and placed the order.
Horiuchi Kun is a graphic designer and calligrapher (Graphical Calligrapher).

キヨちゃんから、別のタマビの友人、Hくんの話を聞きました。
私は、Hくんと長い間あっていませんが、年賀状などの季節の便りを続けています。
彼はバイクが好きで、息子くんとツーリングにでかけることは知っていました。
キヨちゃんから、現在、彼はハンターになって、'人と自然環境との調和' の活動をしていることを聞きました。
そのことは、知らなかったので、驚いたとともに、私とは、馴染みのない、正式なハンターになっていることにも驚きました。
そうそう、Hくんとの本職は、デザイナーです。
日本でCPのよるデザインやその他が広まるときに、コンピューターの教室の先生に、彼は技術を教える先生でした。
私が英国留学する際に、コンピューター関係に疎い私をとても助けてくれました。

Kiyo Chan told me about another Tamabi friend, H Kun.
I haven't seen H Kun for a long time, but we continue to exchange seasonal letters, such as New Year's cards.
I knew that he liked motorcycles and went on tours with his son(s).
Kiyo Chan told me that he has now become a hunter and is working to promote "harmony between people and the natural environment."
I was surprised because I had never heard of this, and I was also surprised to learn that he had become an official hunter, something I was not familiar with.
When I was studying abroad in the UK, he helped me a lot as I was not familiar with computer-related matters.

キヨちゃんからは、他の友人の近況も聞きます。
彼女は、フットワークが良いので多くの人の状況を知っているのでしょう。
そして多くの人を助けているのです。
助けられている一人が私です。
キヨちゃん、本当にどうもありがとうございます！
I also hear from Kiyo Chan about the latest developments of her other friends.
She's very good at "footwork", so she knows the situations of many people.
And she helps many peoples.
