1) 日本郵船歴史博物館 / NYK Maritime Museum 
東京に用事があり、Rと外出。

その帰りに、横浜にある、"日本郵船歴史博物館" に立ち寄りました。

名前も建物の外見も、公的な博物館のようですが、日本郵船の企業博物館です。

ウィキペディアによると、
"日本は長い歴史を持つ企業が多いこともあり世界的にみても特に企業博物館が多く開設されている国である"
そうです。

氷川丸 : ★ も、1930年に日本郵船が造船しました。

ご存知の通り、現在、氷川丸は、山下公園前に停泊し、博物館船として公開されています。

"日本郵船株式会社（にっぽんゆうせん、Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha）は、1885年（明治18年）9月29日に創立された船会社である。

三菱財閥（三菱グループ）の中核企業であり、三菱重工とともに三菱グループの源流企業である。

1893年（明治26年）12月15日に株式会社となった。

日本の3大海運会社の一つであり、戦後の株式特定銘柄12社（平和不動産、東レ、旭化成工業、日本石油、住友電気工業、日本電気、パナソニック、三菱重工業、
トヨタ自動車、三井物産、東京海上日動火災保険、日本郵船）の一つでもある。

英称の「NIPPON YUSEN KAISHA」から「NYK LINE」という副称がある。"

NYK Maritime Museum 

I visited Tokyo on an errand with R.

On the way back, we stopped at the NYK Maritime Museum (Nippon Yūsen Rekishi Hakubutsukan) in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Both the name and the appearance of the building seem to be a public museum, but it is a corporate museum of Nippon Yusen.

According to Wikipedia in Japanese about 'Corporate Museum'.

"There are many companies with a long history in Japan and there are a lot of corporate museums, compared to the rest of the world."

Hikawa Maru : ★ was built by Nippon Yusen in 1930.

According to Wikipedia about Hikawa Maru,

"Hikawa Maru (氷川丸) is a Japanese ocean liner that Yokohama Dock Company built for Nippon Yūsen Kabushiki Kaisha ("NYK Line").

She was launched on 30 September 1929 and made her maiden voyage from Kobe to 

Seattle on 13 May 1930.

 She is permanently berthed as a museum ship at Yamashita Park, Naka-ku, Yokohama."

According to Wikipedia in Japanese, I translate summery, 

“Nippon Yusen is a shipping company established in 1885.

It is a core company of Mitsubishi Financial Combine (Mitsubishi Group), and together with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is a pioneer company of the Mitsubishi Group.

It became a corporation in 1893.

One of Japan's three major shipping companies and is one of 12 stock specific stocks (Heiwa Real Estate, Toray Industries , Asahi Kasei, JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy, Sumitomo Electric Industries, NEC, Panasonic, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toyota Motor, Mitsui & Co., Tokio Marine Nichido Fire Insurance, Nippon Yusen).

From the English name "NIPPON YUSEN KAISHA" there is a subname called "NYK LINE". "

2) 建物 / Building

横浜郵船ビル

竣工 :1963 / ギリシャ・コリント式のビル

"コリント式の柱が用いられている代表的建造物としては、ローマのパンテオン"

Built in 1963 / Greek Corinthian Building

According to Japanese Wikipedia about Corinthian (I translate it),

"The Pantheon in Rome is a typical structure where
Corinthian columns are used." 

建物は、2003年に博物館とするため大規模な改修を行い、1階部分を竣工時通りにするために天井や照明などを変えました。

そのことが評価され、第15回BELCA賞ベストリフォーム部門で受賞をしました。

("BELCA 賞は、長期にわたって適切な維持保全を実施したり、優れた改修を実施した既存の建築物のうち、特に優秀なものを選び、その関係者を表彰することにより、わが国におけるビルのロングライフ化に寄与することを目的とする表彰制度です" ; サイトより)

また、経済産業省の近代化産業遺産にも認定されています。

建物の撮影は許可されていますが、展示は撮影禁止です。

Beautiful Ceiling 

Photographing of buildings is permitted but not of exhibits.

In 2003, they made extensive renovations to make it into the museum, and changed the ceilings and lightings to return the ground floor as it was built.

That was recognized and won the 15th BELCA Award Best Renovation Category.

(The BELCA Award is for the existing buildings which are long-standing buildings that have been properly maintained over the long term in Japan by selecting the outstanding buildings from among the buildings that have been properly renovated and maintained over the long term.)

It is also recognized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Heritage of Industrial Modernization".

3) 展覧会 / Exhibitions

"図案家たちの足跡"展が開催されていました。
The "Footprints of Zuan-ka : Designers " exhibition was held.

当時はデザイナー、グラフィックデザイナー、プランナーと言う言葉が一般化されていなかったのだと思います。

"図案家" と言う言葉が印象的です。

私が唯一勤めた会社での部署は、"意匠課"(イショウカ)であったことを思いだしました。

I think that  the words “designer, graphic designer, and planner” were not generalized at that time.

The word,  "Zuan-ka" is impressive. 

It reminded me that in the one company I worked for, my department was called Ishou-ka : "Design" in Japanese.

常設展(★)も特別展もとても面白く見ました。
また行きたいです。

I looked at the permanent exhibition (★) and the special exhibition 
which were both very interesting.
I would like to visit here again.

自動販売機のみです。
ちょっと残念です...。

It is only a vending machine.
It is a little disappointing...

4) 夜の船 / Night Ship

夜の港は、美しくロマンチックですよね？

The port at night is beautiful and romantic, isn't it?

とてもとてもひさしぶりに、友人 AちゃんとTちゃんに会いました。

一時は1週間に一度くらい会っていたのに、私が英国留学し、鎌倉に住まいはじめてから、年に1度くらいの頻度になってしまいました。

二人がランチが美味しいレストランと思っている、神田フレンチ シャルマン: Chamante"でディナーを食べました。

二人もディナーは、初めて。

予約してくれてどうもありがとうございました！

Long time no see my friends, A chan and T chan.

At one time, I met one or both once a week, however, after I studied in Britain, then lived in Kamakura, it has been about once a year.

We ate dinner at “Kanda French, Chamante”, where they both think the lunch is delicious.

This was their first dinner.

Thank you very much for making the reservation!

3人で一緒に飲めて嬉しい！
It is good to drink together with three people!

お店はどんどん混んで行きます。
The restaurant is becoming more and more crowded.

酒飲みが好きそうな料理を注文しました。

量などもわからないので、ウエイトレスさんと相談しつつ決めました。

気さくで明るく、立場もきちんと理解しているスタッフさんでした。

スタッフさんは女性がほとんどです。

We ordered dishes often liked by drinkers.

As we did not know their quantities, we decided while consulting with our waitress.

She was friendly and bright, who understood her position properly.

The staff are mostly women.

美味しいのですが、塩気がかなりきついです。

お酒はすすみます！

まあ、最近、塩気が穏やかなところが増えているので、味にパンチが欲しい人には良いのかもしれません。

または、このレストランは、作るシェフによって、かなり味に幅があるのかもしれません。

They were delicious, however, they are very salty.

We would drink alcohol very easily!

Well, recently, there are more places where saltiness is mild, so it may be good for those who want a punch for the taste.

Or, this restaurant may have a wide range of flavours depending on the chef making it.

お酒のせいか、私の腕のせいか？ほとんどの写真に焦点がなく、ごめんなさい。

Is it because of alcohol or my lack of skill? Sorry for the lack of focus on most photos.

Even though it is the same dessert, it looks like this if I change the photo settings.

石黒隆宗 (1971 - )さんは鎌倉在住のアーティストで、私と同じリトグラフ工房で

作品を制作しています。

石黒さんは、自宅にエッチング工房をもっているので、版画はリトグラフ作品だけではありませんし、殆どの作品は様々な手法が駆使されています。

彼は個展、グループ展を各地で精力的に開催されている印象があります。

今回は銀座で個展が開催されました。

Takamune Ishiguro (1971-) is an artist based in Kamakura, who produces works in the same lithograph studio as me.

He has an etching studio at home, so his prints are not only lithograph works, and most works use various techniques.

I have the impression that he has held solo exhibitions and group exhibitions energetically in various places.

This time, there was his solo exhibition in Ginza, Tokyo.

　会場が大きく二つに別れています。

When I saw the posters I thought maybe it was a Two-person exhibition?,
in fact, there were two solo exhibitions,
the venue is divided into two parts.

私は彼のセンスと作品が好きです。

彼は "Art Students League of New York" で学んでいます。

You can see Ishiguro's works through the gallery door!

I like his sense and works.

He studied at the "Art Students League of New York".

鮮やかなオレンジと黄色の作品が彼の作品としては珍しく感じます。
I feel bright orange and yellow works are unusual for his work.

実はRの方が私よりも先に鎌倉で石黒さんと知り合っており、石黒さんの展覧会も私よりも数多く、足を運んでいると思います。

In fact, R has known him earlier then me in Kamakura, and that he visits Ishiguro's exhibitions more than me.

大きな作品はスペースの奥にあります。
Large works are at the back of the space.

私はパネル張りにされている作品群が好きです。

立体的なところに惹かれるのかもしれません。

I like the works that are panelled.

I may be attracted to three-dimensional structure.

Three works of delicate impression

ちょっと悲しい感じがして、そこに惹かれるものがあります。
There is some sadness, which I am attracted to.

彼の気持ちが塗り込められている感じがします。
I feel that his feelings are being painted.

このスタイルの作品は初めて見ました。
I saw this style of work for the first time.

素敵な個展でした。

訪ねてよかったです。

次回も楽しみにしています。

It was a lovely exhibition.

I am glad I visited it.

I am looking forward seeing his next exhibition.

2) 建部 弥希 展 / Miki Takebe Exhibition

画家、建部弥希(タケベミキ)さんを初めて知りました。
明るい色調がぱっと目に入ってきます。

This was the first time I knew of a painter, Takebe Miki.

At a glance bright colours come into my eyes.

残念ながら、石黒さんには会えませんでしたが、建部さんにはお会いできました。

Unfortunately, I did not see Ishiguro, but I did meet Takebe.

彼女の心象風景なのかな〜？と思いつつ見ました。

もや〜っと心に浮かぶ風景を懸命に形にしようとしていらっしゃる真摯な姿勢を感じます。

 While I looked them I wondered if they are her imagined landscapes?.

I feel her sincere attitude that is trying to represent the indistinct landscape.

彼女の明るい色は、スパイス的な働きがあると感じます。
I feel her bright colours have a spice-like effect.

モネ (クロード・モネ /1840 -1926) がお好きなのな？と思い、建部さんに聞きましたら

「よく聞かれます」

とおしゃっていました。

彼女の負の感情を感じました。

そうですね、画家に、そのスタイルの気配がある他の画家の名前をあげるのは、あまり良い質問でありません。

すみません。

初めてのアーティストさんとお話をするのは難しいな〜と感じていましたが、ほんと、難しい....。

I wondered if this artist likes Claude Monet (1840-1926)? and I asked her, 

she said that "I am often asked that".

I felt her negative emotions in response.

Well, it's not a good question to ask an artist the names of other painters who are similar to their style. 

I'm sorry.

I felt it was difficult to talk to an artist for the first time, indeed... it is really difficult ....
