1) ユトレヒト散策 / Walk in Utrecht
フライトについては下記。
2017年、ユトレヒトはユネスコ文学都市 / UNESCO City of Literatureに選ばれました。
ユネスコは世界遺産だけでなく、色々なこと[記憶遺産 (世界の記憶) とか]をしているのですね〜。

ユネスコ主催の '指定もの'は、まずは申請をしないと始まらないので、新しいユネスコの活動を知らないと指定はしてもらえません。
なので言語の壁がある国は出遅れがちになるのではないでしょうか？
また、西洋の方々に認めていただくなくても、その国ですでに大切にされていたり、自負している場合はユネスコからの指定は必要ないのかもしれません。
ユトレヒトに話を戻します。
ユトレヒトには、
中央美術館 / Centraal Museum、
があり、これらにも行きましたが、それは後日のことで、のちのブログに書きます。
あっ！もしかしたら、ユトレヒトで最も有名な観光は、ドム教会（Domkerk / Dom van Utrecht）と大聖堂の塔（ドム塔 / Domtoren）ですが、私達は外からの見学のみでした。
(塔は修理中でしたが内部からの見学は可能でした）
これは私達の体力の無さと限られた中での優先順位からのことでした。

このセクションでは、オランダ到着日、宿泊所から近いレストランで食事をしたことを主に書きます。

ユトレヒト州 (薄いピンク部分)の州都です。

Walk in Utrecht
On 5th of August, 2019, I and my husband,R arrived from Britain to Utrecht city, and
strolled around Utrecht.
About flight, below.

UNESCO does various things (Memory of the World Register) as well as World Heritage Site.
UNESCO manages 'designated things' will not start until you apply for them, so you will not be able to be designated without knowing the new UNESCO activities.
So I think countries with language barriers tend to be late.
Also, even if you don't need to be recognized by Westerners, you may not need to be designated by UNESCO if your country is already cherished or proud of the country.
Back to Utrecht.

Ah! Perhaps the most famous sights in Utrecht are St.Martin's Cathedral (Dom van Utrecht) and the Dom Tower but we only looked at them from outside.
(The tower was under repair, but it was possible to see from inside.)
This was due to our lack of strength and other priorities in our limited time.
In this section, I shall mainly describe that we had our dinner at a restaurant close to our accommodation on the day we arrived in the Netherlands.
About the accommodation, below.
2) 旧運河 / Oudegracht
A.要塞都市 / Fortified City
旧運河 (アウデ運河) / Oudegracht は、ユトレヒト市の真ん中を流れています。
そこに到着後、旧運河沿いにカフェやレストランがひらけているのが、ユトレヒトの代表的な景色なのかしら？と思いました。
建物も魅力的です。
日本人の私からすると、絵本の世界です。
でも実際は、ユトレヒトは要塞都市であったので、私のイメージする絵本の世界とは違う起源なのです。
Fortified City
The Oudegracht, or "old canal", runs through the centre of Utrecht city.
After I got there I thought the typical views of Utrecht would be where cafes and restaurant open along the old canal.
The buildings are also attractive.
From my Japanese perspective, it's a picture book world.
In fact, Utrecht was a fortified city, so it has a different origin from the picture book world that I envision.

そこに到着後、旧運河沿いにカフェやレストランがひらけているのが、ユトレヒトの代表的な景色なのかしら？と思いました。

運河に沿って2層の道路があり、
独特な地下城壁構造(wharf-basement structures )が
続いています。
旧市街を囲む中世の堀はほとんど無傷です。 ユトレヒトは長い間、要塞都市であったので、
中世の中心部とその城壁の外側の建設は、
19世紀まで制限されていました。

that create a two-level street along the canals.
The medieval moat surrounding the old town is almost intact.
For a long time Utrecht was as a fortified city,

B.お腹がすいたよ〜！/ I'm hungry~!
カフェ(パブ) : "Cafe 't Neutje" で、ビールを飲んだ時からすでに空腹を感じていました。
"Cafe 't Neutje" については下記。
夕食のあとで、スーパーマーケットで食材を購入したかったので、なるべく早く食事の場所を見つけなければと思っていましたし、何よりも、空腹感が私を狂わせる寸前に達していました(笑)。
パンケーキのお店を探して、運河沿いを歩いていました。
外食は、食に問題があるRと彼の嗜好、気分によって殆どが決まります。
この時は、パンケーキのお店が見つからず、"Den Dreck" (デン・ドラーク): ★の店を先に見つけ、彼が納得したので、そこに決めました。

I'm hungry~!
While I had beer in "Cafe 't Neutje", my sense of hunger grew.
I would like to buy ingredients in a supermarket after our dinner, so I thought I had to find a place to eat as quickly as possible, and most of all, my hunger was on the verge of driving me crazy (Laugh).
We were walking along the canal looking for a particular pancake restaurant (cafe).
Eating out is mostly determined by R who has a problem with food and depends on his taste and mood.
At that time, I couldn't find the pancake restaurant, but I found the "Den Dreck": ★ and he accepted it, so we decided on there.

あとで知りましたが、運河が主に運搬に使用されていた時代に、
倉庫として使用されていた屋内部分が このレストランの特徴の1つでした。 ワイン蔵を思わせる内装で、タイムスリップした気分にさせる 雰囲気なのだそうです→★。 ここにもジュピラー / Jupiler (★ ; オランダ語またはフランス語) の 看板があります。
I knew later, the restaurant was characterized by an interior part that was used as a warehouse when the canal was mainly used for transportation.
The interior is reminiscent of a wine cellar,
and the atmosphere is like a time slip→★.

このノーム (大地の妖精) のグラスは友人M宅で "プラウマンズ・ランチ" / "Ploughman's Lunch"をいただいた時に見ました。
高校生の時に買った"ノーム"の画集を思い出しました。
あの本は今、どこにあるのでしょう？

I saw this gnome glass at friend M's house

I remembered the "Gnome" art book I bought when I was in high school.

私のお料理
濃い味だったことは覚えていますが、どんな味だったかを覚えていません。

Rのお料理
Rはねぎ、玉ねぎ、にんにくなどが食べられません。 彼が外食で食べることができるのは、多くの場合、 ステーキか、フィッシュ&チップス。 今回はステーキでしたが、彼はこのソースはなしで食べました。

R cannot eat reek, onions, garlic, etc.
Outside he can often eat steaks or fish and chips.

探していたパンケーキのレストランも、後日見つけました。
ですが、結局運河沿いで食事をしたのは、これが最後になりました。

There are many cafes and restaurants along the canal, on both lower and upper levels.
On a later day, I found the pancake restaurant I had been looking for.
However, this was the last time we ate along the canal.
