英国の友人夫妻、Mi&Ro宅を訪ねました。
Miは、日本人の女性で、2015年に英国人Ro と日本で結婚式をあげました (下記)。
この日は、"プラウマンズ・ランチ" / "Ploughman's Lunch" を用意してくれていました。
2) アイルランド旅行で / In Ireland Trip
その時、元々は、駅馬車の仕事をしている人や農民がとる昼食で、火を必要としない冷たい食事 (cold meal) と聞きました。
初めて食べた時は、ワンプレート料理 (一皿に全てが盛り付けてある) でした。
私は、"プラウマン・ランチ" が好きになって、アイルランド旅行中に、パブやカフェ・レストランのメニューに "Ploughman's lunch" を見つけると必ず注文しました。
「プラウマンズ・ランチ！」
私は、すっかり忘れていた "プラウマンズ・ランチ" を思い出し、これを用意してくれたMiにより一層感謝をしました。

I visited a friend's couple of Mi & Ro in Britain.
Mi is a Japanese lady who had a wedding in Japan with the British Ro in 2015 (below).
友人の結婚式 / Friend's Wedding Ceremony, 26th of April,...
They live in Britain, and we meet every time I visit Britain, either I am invited or I invite them.
「Ploughman's Lunch!」
I remembered about a "Ploughman's Lunch!" which I had long forgotten and thanked Mi for preparing it.

私が、"プラウマンズ・ランチ" を知ったのは、まだ英国留学中にアイルランドを旅した時でした。
その時、元々は、駅馬車の仕事をしている人や農民がとる昼食で、火を必要としない冷たい食事 (cold meal) と聞きました。
初めて食べた時は、ワンプレート料理 (一皿に全てが盛り付けてある) でした。
私は、"プラウマン・ランチ" が好きになって、アイルランド旅行中に、パブやカフェ・レストランのメニューに "Ploughman's lunch" を見つけると必ず注文しました。
英国の日常生活に戻ってからは、外食する機会が殆どなく、日本へ本帰国して、すっかり "プラウマン・ランチ" を忘れていました。
なので、英国のパブやカフェのメニューに "Ploughman's lunch"があるのか知りませんし、忘れていたので、外食の機会があったとしてもメニューの中を探しもしませんでした。

I first knew about "Ploughman's Lunch" when I was a student in Britain and traveling to Ireland.
At that time, I heard that originally it was a cold meal for people working on stagecoaches, and farmers.
When I first ate one, it was a one-plate dish.
I liked "Ploughman's Lunch" and always ordered when I found "Ploughman's Lunch" in the menu of pubs, cafes and restaurants while in Ireland.
After returning to my daily life in Britain, I rarely had a chance to eat out then returned to Japan and forgot about the "Ploughman's Lunch".
So I didn't know if there was a "Ploughman's Lunch" in the menus of British pubs and cafes, and I completely forgot about them, so I didn't look for it in a menu even when I had a chance to eat out.
2) 前菜 / Starter
午後に、私が一人で彼らの家に行き、Miと女性だけでおしゃべりの時間を持ちました。
Miが前菜も飲み物も用意し、歓迎してくれました。
セントラル・ロンドンまで通勤している忙しい日々の中で、時間を作ってくれて、お料理もしてくれて、本当にどうもありがとう！！！
この日の写真に殆ど焦点がなくて、、Mi&Roに、素敵に用意していただいたお料理に、申し訳なく思います。

Thank you very much for making time and cooking in the busy days of commuting to Central London.
There is almost nothing in focus of the photographs on this day, so I'm sorry to Mi & Ro after they had prepared so beautifully.

| Miから飲み物の説明や旅の思い出のグラスの話などを聞き、 その他お互いのプライベートな話をし、楽しい時間を過ごしました。 (写真はビール) I heard explanations about drinks,
and about the memories of glasses they had bought on their trip from Mi,
and we had chatting, private stories and had a good time.

3) 豪華版 / Gorgeous Version
RoもRも仕事が終わり、合流！
プラウマンズ ・ランチのイメージは質素なのですが、この日にプラウマンズ ・ランチは豪華版で、プラウマンズ ・ランチには思えませんでした。
確かに、内容的には、プラウマンズ ・ランチではあったのですが....。
素敵なセッティングも豪華さの演出に一役買っていたのは間違いありません。

Both Ro and R finished their work and joined us!
The image of Ploughman's Lunch is simple, though on this day Ploughman's Lunch was a deluxe version and I couldn't think of it as a Ploughman's Lunch.
However, certainly, in terms of contents, it was Ploughman's Lunch....
There is no doubt that the wonderful setting also played a role in the luxury.

をつけて食べます。
新しい食べ方や食品(瓶詰めなど)を知りました。 Roといつもよりも、おしゃべりができて楽しかったです。 彼も私も"タンタン" が好きだと知って、それも嬉しい！ DVD『タンタン冒険 : ユニコーン号の秘密』 [2011/監督: スティーヴン・スピルバーグ (1946 ~) / 原作: エルジェ (1907 -1983)] も貸してもらいました。 面白かったです〜〜！ Gorgeous Version of Ploughman's Lunch
I and R eat cheese as it is. At best it's with honey.
But they eat cheese with different flavours of pickles, Piccalilli and mustard.
They showed me new foods and ways of eating.
I was able to chat with Ro and enjoyed it.
I found out he and I both like "Tintin", and that's great!
He also lent us the DVD : "The Adventures of Tintin : The Secret of the Unicorn"
[2011 / Director : Steven Spielberg (1946-) / Original : Hergé (1907 -1983)].
It was really good!
