1) '松島・一の坊' / 'Matsushima・ Ichinobou'
英国に住んでいる友人Miが松島で、英国人Roと結婚式をあげるので、
Rと二人で出かけました。
二人とも、松島に行くのは初めてです。
「いつか行こうね」
とRに話しました。
こんなに早く実現するとは思ってもみませんでした。
Roの家族や友人たちは、英国からやって来ました。
結婚式の会場が温泉旅館 ' 松島 ・一の坊' なので、ここに泊まることにしました。
私は温泉が好きですが、Rは苦手なので、なお一層、泊まる確率が減ります。
なので、ここで式をあげることを決めてくれたカップルに私はとても感謝をしています。

'Matsushima・ Ichinobou'
My friend Mi lives in Britain and had a wedding ceremony in Matsushima, Japan with an Englishman, Ro, so I visited Matsushima with R.
It was the first time we visited this area.
When we visited Amanohahsidate, which is one of 'Three Views of Japan', I told R,
'We will go to the other two 'Three Views of Japan' : Matsushima and Miyajima (Itsukushima) one day.
I did not think we could visit Matsushima so soon.
Ro's family and friends visited there from Britain.
The wedding ceremony was held in a hot spring hotel 'Matsuhima Ichinobou', so we decided to stay in the hotel.
For us, the hotel is a luxury hot spring hotel, so we could only stay there for somebody's wedding or other special occasion.
I love hot springs although R cannot use it, reducing the chance of staying in such a hotel.
Therefore I really appreciate their decision to choose here for their wedding.

2) 結婚式 / Wedding Ceremony
A. 和風 / Japanese Style
結婚式は和風です。
花嫁のMiは、白無垢 (シロムク) がとてもよく似合っていました。
そういえば、角隠しも綿帽子も彼女はつけていませんでした。
髪型が文金高島田ではなかったからでしょうね。
Roも紋付袴が様になっていて、違和感がなく、馴染んでいました。

The wedding ceremony was Japanese Style.
Mi dressed in a very becoming all-white kimono.
Oh Yes! She did not wear Tunokakushi or Wataboushi, because I guess her hair style was not Bunkintakashimada (See above).
Ro looked at home in his Montsukihakama ; formal wear consisting of a family-crested kimono over hakama, like trousers and I felt he looked very natural.

言葉の壁はあるものの、笑顔で挨拶し、ほっとできる人数でした。
Families and Close Friends
They have a language barrier, however,
they had greetings with smiles, and there was a relaxed atmosphere.

B. 披露宴 / Wedding Reception
Roは、披露宴の挨拶も英語と日本語の両方でしていました。
Miは披露宴には、真っ赤な着物を着ました。
式の前と後で、紅白の衣装を着分けていたのが印象的でした。
文化と言葉の違いはあるけれど、理解しあおうというお互いの家族の歩み寄り(努力)が暖かな気持ちとして感じられた、とても良い披露宴でした。

Wedding Reception
Ro greeted us all in Japanese and English in their wedding reception.
Mi wore a red kimono for the reception.
After the ceremony, she changed from white to red, the symbolism of the colours impressed me.
In Japan, the colour combination of red and white is for congratulations.
Even though the two families have different cultures and languages, they tried to understand each other and I felt warm closeness between the families.
It was a very good reception.

| あわび あわびは高級食材ですが、 英国人ゲストは苦手だったようです。 食文化の違いですね。 私は、Rの分まで食べました！ラッキー！(笑) Awabi : Haliotis Awabi is a high quality dish, however, most British guests did not enjoy them. Food cultures are different, aren't they? I had Rs' too! Lucky me! (laugh) |
