私と夫Rが東京から戻って来た時には、鎌倉山は日暮どきでした。

夕焼け空が美しかったです。

私の写真では、その美しさが表現でないのが、残念です。

Sunset in Kamakurayama

It was dusk in Kamakurayama when my husband R and I returned from Tokyo.

The sunset sky was beautiful.

It's a shame that my photographs don't capture its beauty.

山脇ミチルさんの個展に私と夫Rは、行きました。

彼女は、昨年12月に同じテーマで、個展を開催していて、これは2回目(Vol.2) になります。

今回の会場は、東神田でした。

私は、彼女をMichiruちゃんと読んでいます。

Michiruちゃんは、ジュエリー・写真を制作しています。

彼女のブランドは、"EARTHEO" (アテオ)といいます。

"美しい地球と　すべての存在と多様性の繋がりOneness(ワンネス)" がEARTHEOのコンセプトです。

I and my husband R visited Yamawaki Michiru's exhibition.

She held an exhibition on the same theme in December last year, 

and this was her second (Vol. 2).

This time the venue was Higashi-kanda.

I call her Michiru.

Michiru creates jewelry and photography.

Her brand is called "EARTHEO".

EARTHEO's concept is "The connection between the beautiful Earth and all beings and diversity - oneness."

展示に使用されている食器棚？やボックスが
アンティークの雰囲気をもっていて、
Michiruちゃんのジュエリーに似合っていました。

 The cupboard(?) and boxes used in the exhibition had 
an antique feel to them, and matched Michiru's jewelry perfectly.

ライカのカメラが展示してありました。

カメラは、ギャラリーのオーナーの桑原氏のコレクションです。

There were Leica cameras on display.

The cameras are from the collection of the gallery owner, Mr. Kuwahara.

日頃、私はジュエリーを身につけないし、実は興味もあまりないので、ジュエリーを見る機会があまりありません。

Michiruちゃんの個展で、ジュエリーを注意深く見る機会を持つことができます。

I don't usually wear jewelry, and I'm not particularly interested in it, so I don't have many opportunities to look at jewelry.

Michiru's exhibition gives me the opportunity to look at jewelry carefully.

お皿や石が海に浮かぶ島々に見えます。
指輪が島に住む生き物にも見えてきます。

The plates and stones look like islands floating in the sea.

The ring also looks like a creature that lives on the island.

おもしろい展示
水槽の中に展示されているような錯覚がおきます。
一部に、古い鏡を使用し、リフレクション効果を利用しています。
素敵なアイディアです。

 Interesting Exhibit
It gives the illusion of being exhibited in a fish tank.

 An old mirror used in a part of the box to create a reflective effect.

That's a lovely idea.

個展会場に入ってすぐに、ここにある白い壁が作る空間が
好きだと感じました。

As soon as I entered the exhibition venue, I felt that 

I liked the space created by the white walls.

雲がドラゴンのように見えます。
ですが、彼女は、'2頭の獅子たち'(下の詩？）ととらえたようです。

The clouds look like a dragon.
However, she seems to have understood it as 'Two Lions' (the poem below?).

12月の個展の際、Michiruちゃんから屋久島(ヤクシマ)で撮影した話を聞きました。

そのときの作品がこの会場にも展示されていました。

When I was in her exhibition in December, Michiru told me about her photographs she took onYakushima Island.

According to Wiki about Yakushima Island, 
Yakushima (屋久島) is one of the Ōsumi Islands 
in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.

The photographs she took at that time were also on display in this venue.

相模湾の夕方の風景？
前回の個展では見なかった作品だと思います。

富山の薬売りが家庭に渡していた箱？

Household Medicine Box 

A box given to households by a medicine seller from Toyama Prefecture?

Itinerant medicine merchant from Toyama.

彼女は、ジュエリー・写真を制作の他に
自然派ワイン(ナチュラルワイン/ ビオ・ワイン：★) の普及もしています。
(正確には、ナチュラルワインとビオワインは違うそうですが、
未だ定義が統一されていないそうです)
ここでも、ワインとスナック(上)が提供されていました。
Rは紅茶を、私は赤ワインを一杯飲みました。
このスナックは、Michiruちゃんからいただいてしまいました。
ありがとうございました。

Besides creating jewelry and photography, she also promotes 
natural wine/ organic wine.
(To be precise, natural wine and organic wine are different, 
but the definitions have not yet been clarified.)
Here too, wine and snacks (above) were offered.

R had a cup of tea and I had a glass of red wine.

Michiru gave me these snacks.

2023年1月9日 成人の日 / Coming of Age Day, 9th of January 2023

成人の日 / Coming of Age Day

本日、嬉しい思いがけない訪問がありました。

懇意にしているN家のYちゃんが、ご両親と一緒に我が家を訪ねてくれました。

彼女は、華やかな振袖姿でした。

今日は、彼女の成人式でした！

おめでとうございます！

私たちが彼女に会ったときは、彼女が小学校に入学したばかりで、

まだ、幼稚園生の雰囲気が残っていました。

それが、今日は、あきらかに、"女性" でした。

50年前の日本なら、お嫁さんになっていたことでしょう。

Yちゃんは、終始、にこやかな表情で、とても幸せそうに見えました。

ご両親も、嬉しそうでした。

私たちも、とても暖かな気持ちに包まれました。

ああ、これは、お福分け！

ありがとうございました！

Coming of Age Day

Today, we (I and my husband R) had a delightful and unexpected visit.

Y Chan from the N family, who we are close friends with, visited us with her parents.

She was wearing a gorgeous furisode kimono.

According to Wiki about furisode, 

"A furisode (振袖, lit. 'swinging sleeves') is a style of kimono distinguishable by its long sleeves,

Furisode are the most formal style of kimono worn by young unmarried women in Japan.

~~

It is common for women to wear a furisode on their 'coming of age day'."

Today was her Coming of Age ceremony!

Congratulations!

When we first met her, she had just started elementary school and still had the air of a nursery school child.

But today, she was clearly a "woman."

In Japan 50 years ago, she would have become a bride.

Y Chan had a smile on her face the whole time and looked very happy.

Her parents also seemed happy.

We were also filled with a warm feeling.

Ah, for us, this is a blessing!

 Nanakusa-gayu : Seven Herbs Porridge

七草 / Seven Herbs

本来なら、1月7日に '七草粥' (ナナクサガユ)の朝に食べるべきですが、私と夫Rは、8日の晩に食べました。

Rは、七草粥が嫌いですが、日本の風習 (イベント？) を受容し、少しだけ食べます。

彼には、'薬のお粥 '; 胃を休める食事と説明しています。

私は、七草粥が好きだというわけではなく、お正月におせち料理やお雑煮を食べるように、行事食として食べています。

すべての行事食を実践するつもりはありませんが、七草粥は、私の許容範囲であり、お祭りごとの楽しみとして扱うことができます。

塩だけのシンプルな味付けにするべきなのかもしれませんが、Rに少しでも受け入れられるように、だし汁、醤油なども入れます。

時には、卵も入れることもあります。

最近は、七草粥の食材がセットされていて、なおかつ、
パッケージに説明もついています。

Explanation of Nanakusa-gayu : Seven Herbs Porridge
Recently, the ingredients for Nanakusa-gayu are sold in a set,
and the package also includes an explanation.

七草 / Seven Herbs

セリ：water dropwort

ナズナ：shepherd’s purse

ゴギョウ：cudweed

ハコベラ：chickweed

ホトケノザ：henbit

スズナ：turnip

スズシロ：daikon radish

Nanakusa-gayu : Seven Herbs Porridge

It is supposed to be eaten 'Nanakusagayu' (rice porridge with seven herbs) on the morning, 7th of January, but my husband R and I ate it on the evening of the 8th.

R doesn't like nanakusa-gayu, but he accepts the Japanese custom (event?) and eats a little bit of it.

I explain to him that it's 'Medicinal Porridge' ; a stomach-soothing meal.

It's not that I like nanakusa-gayu, but I eat it as a festival food, like eating Osechi-ryōri  and ozōni on New Year's Day.

I don't intend to practice all festival foods, but Nanakusa-gayu is within my tolerance and can be treated as a festival food.

It may be that it should be seasoned simply with salt, but I add dashi stock, soy sauce, etc. to make it more acceptable to R.

Sometimes I also add eggs.

梨園を営んでいるT家から、ル・レクチエが届きました。

ありがとうございました。

T家とは、私の英国留学前からのお付き合いです。

私がまだイラストレイターだったときに、農協が出版する雑誌

『家の光』で仕事をさせていただいていました。

その関係で知った '農家体験ツアー' で、新潟県加茂市周辺の農家へゆき、私と友人の二人を受け入れてくださった農家がT家でした。

その後、ご家族で、那須塩原市で開催した私の個展にいらしてくださいました。

東京での個展開催時には、いつも奥様のNさんのお友達に紹介してくださり、そのご友人方も会場へいらしてくださいます。

私と夫Rが二階堂に住んでいた時には、T家で周辺の奥様会の旅行で、鎌倉旅行の途中で我が家へいらしてくださいました (この時Rは英国にいました。

気持ちのこもった交際が続いていると感じています。

長きに渡り、ありがとうございます。

'Le Lectier' Arrives

I received  'Le Lectier' from the T family, who run a pear orchard.

Thank you very much.

I have known the T family since before I studied abroad in the UK.

When I was still an illustrator, I worked for the magazine "Ie no Hikari" published by Central Union of Agricultural Cooperatives.

I found out about a "Farm Experience Tour" through this connection, and I and my friend went to a farm in the area of ​​Kamo City, Niigata Prefecture, and the farmer who welcomed us was the T family.

After that, they came to my exhibition in Nasu Shiobara City with their family.

When I have my exhibitions in Tokyo, they always introduce it to friends of Mrs. N, who has visited the venue.

When my husband R and I lived in Nikaido, Kamakura, N San visited me, (at that time R was in UK), with her local wives' group who had their trip in Kamakura.

I feel that our relationship is still heartfelt.
