タマビ(多摩美術大学)の友人、キヨちゃん (岡田希代子さん) が、地元浅草で、個展をしました。
個展のDMは、大型の長方形で、屏風作品が使用されていました。
キヨちゃんがこういう作品を制作していることを全く知らなかったので、驚きもし、感銘も受けました。
ぜひ、見に行きたいと思いました。
浅草は魅力的な町ですし、観光地です。
外国人には、日本人よりもより一層人気がある場所です。
夫Rに浅草観光をさせてあげたいと思い、色々調べましたが、私達にはありがちな事ですが、家を出る時間が遅くなってしまい、ギャラリーを訪ねるだけになってしまいました。
まあ、個展へ行きたいと思っても、実現できないことも多いので、実際に彼女の
個展へは行くことができてラッキーでした。

Asakusa
Kiyo chan (Kiyoko Okada), a friend from Tama Art University, had an exhibition in her hometown of Asakusa, Tokyo.
An invitation card of her exhibition was a large rectangle, and her work, folding screen work was used.
I was surprised and impressed because I didn't know that Kiyo chan was making such work.
I definitely wanted to go and see.
It is a place that is even more popular with foreigners than Japanese.
I wanted to let my husband R go sightseeing in Asakusa, so I did a lot of research, but as is often the case with us, the time to leave the house was delayed and we just visited the gallery.
Well, even if I wanted to go to exhibitions, there were many things I couldn't do, so I was lucky to actually go to her exhibition.

ルーサイトギャラリー
下記、サイト: ★より "ルーサイトギャラリーは、2001年秋、昭和の流行歌手
『市丸（江戸小唄の市丸姐さん）』
の隅田川沿いの屋敷を改装し、骨董店としてオープンしました。
ルーサイトとは1930年代にアメリカで開発された無色透明の合成樹脂です。 無色透明であり、様々な色に染まります。 展示ごとに様々な色が出せるので、
ギャラリーにふさわしい名前だと思い名づけました。"

where the renowned geisha and singer ICHIMARU(1906 - 1997) once lived.
The house, built over seventy years ago, stands on the bank
on the Sumida River and overlooks downtown Tokyo.
Named after lucite, a transparent acrylic resin developed in the 1930’s,
lucite gallery is one of the most desirable gallery spaces in East Tokyo."

The difference in place and the sense of incongruity reminds me of Twinings flagship shop in London .

| 通常の家というよりも、お店の玄関の雰囲気があります。 最初から人を迎える設定だったのかもしれません。 It's more like a shop entrance than a normal house. It may have been designed to welcome people from the beginning.  鎌倉にある、お香のお店に似ているな〜と感じました。 そのお店はこんな玄関アプローチを元にして作られたのだと後から思いました。 I felt that it was similar to an incense shop in Kamakura. Later I thought that the shop was created based on this kind of entrance approach. |
ギャラリーに入るにも、カフェを利用するにも、靴を脱ぎます。
人工股関節の手術をしてから、外出時の靴の脱ぎ履きは、私はちょっと苦に感じます。
ですが、外出時に靴を脱いで入る場所は、基本、素敵な場所が多いので、期待が高まる "苦"です(笑)。
Take off our shoes to enter the gallery or use the cafe.
Taking off and putting on shoes when going out after surgery on my hips feels a bit painful to me.
However, often the places asking us take off our shoes are attractive so the painfulness encourages my expectations to become higher (Laugh).
3) 個展会場 / Exhibition Venue
会場では、キヨチャンに会う事ができ、よかった！
彼女が会場にいるのかを確認せず、行ってしまったので、会えるかちょっと不安でした。
そしてまた、共通の友人Jさんがお手伝いにきていていました。
ちょっと同窓会のような喜びがありました。
友人の個展会場ではよくありがちなことですし、私の個展会場でも、同級生は同級生です(笑)。
付け加えると、キヨチャンの個展会場で、彼女の息子くんに初めて会いました。
カメラマン(だと理解しましたが）で、彼女のDMの撮影は彼がしたようでした。
キヨちゃんの年賀状には、いつも素敵な写真が使用されていますが、そうか、あれは息子くんの写真だったのか〜とわかりました。
Exhibition Venue
It was nice to meet Kiyo chan at the venue!
I didn't check if she was in the venue, so I was a little worried if I could actually meet her.
As it happened, J san, our common friend, came to help her.
I had a little joy like an alumni association.
It's often the case in friend's exhibition venues, and even in my exhibition venues, my schoolmates are schoolmates (Laugh).
In addition, in Kiyo chan's exhibition, I met her son for the first time.
He is a photographer (I understand), it seems he did the photographs for her invitation card.
Kiyo chan's New Year's card always uses a nice photograph, now I knew that it was her son's photographs.

表装されている作品が彼女のものである場合と違う場合があります。
私にはその判断が的確にはできません。
なので、環境を含め展示作品含め彼女の個展全体を楽しみました。
Mounting ; Hyoso is one of her works.

I can't make that judgment accurately.
So I enjoyed her whole exhibition including the environment
and the exhibited works. |

A. 会場 / Venue 2階は、個展会場兼カフェです。
隅田川 (スミダガワ)の景色が楽しめます。
The first floor is also the exhibition venue and a cafe.
You can enjoy the views of the Sumida River.

大作がここに！
大作であり、彼女の一番のお気に入り作品です。 私もこれに最も心が惹かれますし、想像の世界が広がります。 Her Masterpiece is Here! It's a masterpiece and her favourite work. I am most attracted to this, and the world of imagination expands. 
とっても素敵な作品 : "環"
現代と平安時代が一緒になったようなイメージです。 かぐや姫が宇宙船に乗ってやってくるような感じがします。 円が光と惑星を連想させ、色使いが着物を思わせます。 Very Lovely Work "Kan" or "Wa" ; perhaps "Planetary Ring" This is an image in which the present age and the Heian period are combined. It feels like Princess Kaguya is coming aboard a spaceship. The circles are reminiscent of lights and planets, and the colour scheme is reminiscent of Kimono.  色々な材料が使用されています。 Various materials are used.

キヨちゃんの作品は、絵というよりも柄という表現があっているように思います。

I think Kiyo Chan's works are more like patterns than pictures.

I feel that the carpenter thought about various things and built this house. |

ここは隅田川沿にあるのだと気がつきました。
そういえば、DMにそんな事が書きてありました...。 I noticed that here is alongside the Sumida River. Now I remember the invitation card says a such a thing.... |

| 行き交う船が景色を変えます。 ちょっとテムズ川っぽいです。 The boats that come and go change the scenery. It's a bit like the Thames. |

"竜馬"というよりは、ハックルベリー？
"竜馬"は、坂本 龍馬 (1836 - 1867) に由来するのでしょうか？

イメージしてデザインしました。
浅草をリサーチしたときに、'ホタルナを知り、乗りたいと思いました。 乗れはしませんでしたが、見る事ができてラッキーでした。
'Hotaluna' : ★
When I researched Asakusa, I knew about 'Hotaluna' and wanted to ride it.
I didn't get on it, but I was lucky enough to see it.

向こう岸
向こう岸に、隅田川に架けられた昔の橋と思われる
絵 (コピーでしょうけれど）がありました。
On the other side, there was a picture (although it looks like a copy)
that seems to be an old bridge over the Sumida River.

5) キヨちゃんと和紙 / Kiyo Chan and Washi
キヨちゃんの作品、素晴らしかったです。
私には表装の知識もそのセンスも持ち合わせていませんが、彼女の作品に対する真摯な気持ちが伝わってきて、好感がもてました。
作品に合わせて、 発表の場に "ルーサイトギャラリー / lucite gallery" を選んだことも、作品を大切に思っているからだと感じます。
私は、次回の個展に和紙を使用してみようかと思っていて探していましたが、その知識がなく、ネットで売られていても選ぶ事ができずにいました。
彼女はたくさん、和紙を使用していたので、アドバイスを求めました。
学生時代からの友人なのに、今回初めてそのことを知りました。
今、彼女はその店で働いてます。
是非とも、彼女の店を訪ねて、彼女のアドバイスで和紙を選びたいと思い、お願いしました。
快くキヨちゃんはお願いを受けてくれました。
ありがとうございます！
次回、キヨちゃんに会うことも、キヨちゃんの新作を見ることも楽しみにしています。
和紙の店については、のちのセクションに載せたいと思います。
Kiyo Chan and Washi
Kiyo-chan's work was wonderful.
I don't have any knowledge or sense of 'Mounting', but I was impressed by her sincere feelings towards her work.
I feel that she selected "lucite gallery" as the venue for her presentation because she cherishes her work.
I was looking for Washi : Japanese paper for my next exhibition, but I didn't have that knowledge and couldn't choose even though it is sold online.
She used a lot of Washi, so I asked her for advice.
I found out that her parents' house is a long-established Japanese paper shop (wholesale house) : "Tanaka Washi Shop" that has been around since the Edo period.
We have been friends since we were students, though this time I knew about her
background for the first time.

She works there now.
By all means, I wanted to visit her shop and choose Washi based on her advice, so
I asked for a visit and advice.

I am looking forward to seeing Kiyo-chan next time and seeing Kiyo-chan's new work.
