カーディフに住む、Rの友人Sに会いに行ったからです。
Sは、インド人で、Rは彼女の家族とも長年の付き合いで、私も彼女の家族に暖かく迎えられています。
彼女に会うときは、彼女の家か、彼女の家族の家に泊まります。
ですが、今回は彼女と、カーディフにある、セント・ファガンズ歴史ミュージアム / St Fagans National Museum of History ：★で、会っただけでした。

私達のバースの宿泊所の "Contemporary Newly Built Cottage" から、セント・ファガンズ歴史ミュージアムは、日帰りできる距離にありました。
カーディフは、ウェールズの首都。
4つの国の独立心は、かなり強くあるように感じます。
国の区分は、日本で言う所の、東国 (トウゴク/アズマノクニ) ; 関東、機内 (キナイ/ キダイ/ウチノクニ）; 関西、奥羽 (オウウ) ; 東北 などに近いと思います。
対抗意識や独立心の面からとすると、大阪、京都、神戸の方々のそれに似ていると私は感じます。( そんなもんじゃない！というほど、4つの国の独立心はもっと強いとは思います）

私は、イギリスを日本語なら、'英国'、英語なら 'Britain' と表記します。
けれども、'4つの国' を考慮すると、
「英国は、"United Kingdom : UK" なんだな〜」
と再認識します。

Exception
We travelled to the Cotswolds, but as an exception, we went to Cardiff , which is not included in the Cotswolds.
We went to see R's friend S, who lives in Cardiff.
S is an Indian, R is a long time friend of her family and I have been warmly welcomed by her family.
When we see her, we stay in her house or in her family's house.
However, this time we just met her at St Fagans National Museum of History ：★ in Cardiff.

From our Bath accommodation "Contemporary Newly Built Cottage" , St Fagans History of Museum was a day trip away.
Cardiff is the capital of Wales.
Since 1922, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland : UK is made up of four countries :
England,
Scotland,
Wales and
Northern Ireland.

Wales and
Northern Ireland.
I feel that the independence of the four countries is quite strong.
I usually refer to 'Britain' for the 'UK '.
However, considering the "four countries", I recognized again that Britain is actually known as the "United Kingdom : UK".

イングランドの風景
バースからカーディフへ向かう途中、車から撮影しました。
緑の丘、木々、遮るもののない空.......
日本の国土の方が英国よりも大きいのです。
にもかかわらず、英国の方が大きいと勘違いしてしまいがちなのは、
こういう広々とした景色が日本ではあまり見られないからだと思います。

Green hills, trees, unobstructed sky ...
The land of Japan is larger than Britains'.
Nevertheless, it is easy to misunderstand that Britain is bigger than Japan.
I think this kind of spacious view is rarely seen in Japan.

Sとは、セント・ファガンズ歴史ミュージアムで待ち合わせをしました。
私達が先に現地に到着しました。
"セント・ファガンズ" があまりに立派になっていてびっくり！！！
実は15年前くらいに、私達は、ここにきたことがあります。
私はまだ学生で、バースに住んでいました。
Sを訪ねた際に彼女が "セント・ファガンズ" を勧めてくれて一緒に行きました。
その時は、博物館の駐車場がなく(あったかもしれませんが私達にはわからなかった)、車をどこに駐車するか戸惑いましたし、立派な近代的な建物：レセプション・ビルディングもありませんでした。
以前は、ウェールズの古い建物が移設された屋外展示の博物館という印象でした。
それだけでも、私には魅力的で、今回も、またあそこへ行きたいな〜と思い、Sとそこで会うことにしたのです。
2011年から、'3,000万ポンドの再開発プロジェクト' がスタートし、レセプション・ビルディングが建てられたり、カフェ、レストランなどの施設の充実がはかられたり、子供達の遊び場が作られました。
その他、アミューズメント要素のある施設が設置されました。
'3,000万ポンドの再開発プロジェクト' は、2018年10月に終了し、2019年に '年間最優秀アート・ファンド・ミュージアム / Art Fund Museum of the Year' に選ばれました。

入場料は無料ですが、駐車場代は一日5ポンドです。

£30 million Redevelopment
We arrived there first.
I was surprised that "St. Fagans" has changed magnificently so much! ! !
Actually, we visited here about 15 years ago.
I was still a student and lived in Bath.
When we visited S, she recommended "St. Fagans" and went with her.
At that time there was no car park at the museum (maybe we just didn't know their car park), we were confused about where to park our car and there wasn't even a good modern building: a reception building.
Previously, it was my impression that it was a museum of outdoor exhibits where old Welsh buildings were relocated.
That alone was attractive to me, and I wanted to go there again this time, so we decided to meet S there.
In 2011, the '£ 30 million redevelopment project' started, a reception building was built, facilities such as cafes and restaurants have been enhanced, and creating a playground for children.
In addition, a facility with amusement elements was set up.
The '30 million pound redevelopment project 'was completed in October 2018 and the Museum was named as the Art Fund Museum of the Year' in 2019.

B. 城の庭へ / To Castle Garden
最初にこの博物館を訪れた時には、城の庭 / Castle Garden の方面には行きませんでした。
もしかしたら、城の前を通ったのかもしれませんが、私には全く、城や庭の記憶がありません。
Sの到着まで、'城の庭' で待つことにし、レセプションの建物から向かいました。
道のりに起伏があり、セントファガンズ城へは、石の階段を登って行きます。
Sの体調が悪いと聞いていたので、結局、私達は、階段下の池の辺りでSに会いました。

途中で案内板で、城の庭の位置を確認しました。 迷いそうなくらい、広いです。 Information Board On the way, we confirmed the position of the castle garden with the information board. It's so wide that we were nearly lost. |
To Castle Garden
When I first visited this museum, we didn't go towards the Castle Garden.
Maybe we passed in front of the castle, but I had no memory of the castle or garden.
I decided to wait in 'Castle Garden' until the arrival of S and headed out of the reception building.
There are undulations along the way and you'll climb stone steps to St Fagans Castle.
We heard that S was sick, so in the end we met S near the pond at the foot of the steps.

川？と思いましたが、池でした。 わ〜！綺麗！と撮影。 林の中を歩いてきたので、ここで、パッと視界が開けました。 Pond View River? I thought, but it was a pond. Wow! Beautiful! and Photographed. We walked through the grove, and here, my field of view opened up.  |

セント・ファガンズ城は英国指定建造物1級に指定されている建物で、
この博物館はもともと歴史的建造物の博物館なので、
英国指定建造物は16ありますが、1級指定はセント・ファガンズ城のみです。
St Fagans Castle : ★
St Fagans Castle is a Grade I listed building and
one of the finest Elizabethan manor (1558 - 1603) houses in Wales.
The Museum is originally a museum of historic buildings,
so there are 16 listed building, but only St Fagans Castle is Grade I.

庭からの城
1946年に、城は第3代目プリマス伯爵 / Earl of Plymouth から
18エーカー(東京ドーム約1.5個)の土地と一緒に
国立野外博物館のサイト(セント・ファガンズの前身)として
国立ウェールズ博物館に寄贈されました。
私達は、カフェのみ利用し、城内の見学はしませんでした。
Castle from Garden In 1946 the Castle, together with 18 acres of land, was donated
by the third Earl of Plymouth to the National Museum of Wales as a site
for a national open-air museum.
We only used the cafe and did not visit the castle. |

庭の荒々しい感じがウェールズらしさを感じます。
The wild feeling of the garden makes it feel like Wales.

D. カフェ / Cafe
博物館には、いくつかカフェがあります。
お城のカフェは、使用人ホール / Servant's Hallがあった場所のようでした。
簡単な飲み物がサービスされています。
The museum has several cafes.
The castle cafe seemed to be the place which was the Servant's Hall.
Simple drinks are served.

池のほとりで、Sと会い、古い建物を見に行きました。
On the bank of the pond, we met S and went to see the old buildings.

| 壁に半変形の窓？があるのを見つけました。 番号が降ってあります。 なんのための番号なのか、わかりません。 I found a semi-deformed window? on the walI. It has numbers. I don't know what the numbers are for.  窓の向こうは、果樹園のようでした。 The other side of the window was like an orchard. |

ストーン・サークル
窓の近くには、ストーン・サークルがあります。
もともとここにあったものなのか、新たに作られたものなのか、
または復元されたものなのか、移築(移動?) されたものなか、わかりません。
どうしてここにあるのかもわかりません。 ストーン・サークルはウェールズの文化として 考慮されているのかもしれません。 私は、ストーン・サークルが好きで、色々な場所の
ストーン・サークルを見に行きました。
最近は、ストーン・サークルを見に行く旅をしていないな〜...
Stone Circle
Near the window is a stone circle.
I don't know if it was originally here, newly made, restored or moved here.
And also I don't know why the stone circle is here. I guess the Stone Circle is considered part of the Welsh culture.
I like 'Stone Circles' and we have seen them in various places.
I realized that recently I haven't travelled to see Stone Circles.
