| 道路の桜 大きめの枝が折れていました。 きっと車がぶつかったのでしょう。 折れた跡が痛々しい... 事故にはならなかったようなのでよかったですが、 桜のことを思うと気の毒ではあります。 (4月3日) Cherry Tree on the Road A large branch was broken. I'm sure the car hit. The broken marks are painful ... I'm relieved somebody didn't have an accident, but I'm sorry to think of the cherry. (3rd of April)  折れた枝は道路脇に寝かされていました。 The broken branch was laid on the side of the road. |

| 4月6日 桜の花の量がだいぶ減って、葉桜に近づいています。 地面を散った花びらが覆っています。 6th of April The amount of cherry blossoms has decreased considerably, and it is approaching leaf cherry blossoms. The petals scattered on the ground cover it. |

| 4月16日 ウツギ (空木)は鉢植えだったものを地植えにしました。 庭で行方不明状態担っていましたが、春先から姿を表して 花を咲かせています。 嬉しい！ 16th of April Deutzia Crenata was a potted plant that has been planted in the ground. It was missing, in the garden, but has been appearing since early spring and is now blooming. Happy! |

| 4月15日 カラーは、元々は母の庭で咲いていました。 鎌倉で最初に住んだ二階堂の庭では大きく色濃く 立派な花も咲かせていました。 けれども鎌倉山の砂地には合わず、 ここでは生きているのが精一杯という感じです。 今はなかなか良い状態。 15th of April The Zantedeschia originally bloomed in my mother's garden. In the garden of Nikaido, where I first lived in Kamakura, large, dark and splendid flowers were in bloom. However, it feels it can only just survive here because it does not suit the sandy area of Kamakurayama. It's in pretty good condition right now. |

| 4月7日 ジャイアントホスタの芽がでていてびっくり！ あなたも春を感じてでてきたのですね。 太陽に向かって伸びる様子が感じられます。 7th of April I was surprised to see the Giant Hosta buds! You also feel spring and appear! I can feel you extending toward the sun.  4月15日 ずっと、'ジャイアントホスタ'とだけ覚えていましたが、 'ジャイアントホスタ'の中の'ダイアナリメンバード' と言う名であることを初めて知りました。 この名は、故ダイアナ妃にちなんで名付けられたのです。 そうだったのね〜〜！ ああ、でもこれは違うホスタ (キボウシ/ 擬宝珠) かもしれません。 ホスタの種類はたくさんあり私には見分けが難しいのですよ。 15th of April I always remembered only 'Giant Hosta', but for the first time I knew that it was named 'Diana Remembered' in 'Giant Hosta'. It is named after the late Diana Princess of Wales. I see.... Oh, but this may be a different Hosta. There are many types of Hosta and it is difficult for me to distinguish them. |

| 4月8日 / 8th of April 鎌倉駅西口の花屋さんでこれを買った時は こんなに長生きし、たくさんの花を毎年咲かせてくれるとは 思ってもみませんでした。 私は花木の世話が上手ではないので、 勝手に元気な子の存在は嬉しい。 肥料によって色がとても違うことを今年、知りました。  4月23日 / 23rd of April When I bought this at a flower shop, near the west exit of Kamakura Station, I never thought that it would live so long and make many flowers bloom every year. I'm not good at taking care of flowers and trees, so I'm glad that this is healthy itself. This year I found out that the colours are very different depending on the fertilizer. |

| 4月8日 クリスマスにピンクのポインセチアをいただきました。 Rがひとまわり大きな鉢に植え替えました。 8th of April We had pink Poinsettia as a Christmas present. R replanted it in a bigger pot.  4月23日 無事、育ってくれますよう〜に！ 23rd of April I hope you will grow up well! |

| 4月8日 RIさんからいただいた薔薇、ほぼ死滅状態から ここまで回復しました。 嬉しい....涙... 最後まで諦めないというのは大事なことだと教えてくれます。 そして、日本では、薔薇は、ずっとケアーが必要なんです。 8th of April The rose we received from RI has recovered from almost dead. I am glad!...tears! It tells us that it is important not to give up until the end. And in Japan, roses need care all the time.  4月23日 蕾を発見...すごい！ サポートのポールをアマゾンで購入しました。 23rd of April I found a bud..wonderful! I bought support poles from Amazon.  4月28日 今までにない大きな花をつけました。 感動！ 病気でベッドで寝てばかりいた子が 運動会で走っているのを見た時の感動に 似ているのかもしれません。 28th of April It has a big flower like never before. Impressed! It may be similar to the impression of seeing a child who had been ill in bed now running at an athletic meet. |

| 4月8日 もうダメかと思う状態からここまで回復し嬉しいかぎりです。 この花もRIさんからいただいたのでした。 割り箸でサポートしてます。 8th of April I'm glad that this orchid has recovered from what I thought was no good to this point. This flower was also given by RI. This is supported with disposable chopsticks.  4月23日 元からのサポートを見つけたので使いました。 23rd of April I found the original support and used it. |

主に、Rが庭の世話をしています。
春には、気分転換を図るために、庭仕事をするときにシャツ、ネクタイ、セーターの服装で、'ジェントルマン・ガーデナー' をめざしました。

Mainly R has taken care of the garden.
In the spring, he aimed to be a 'Gentleman Gardener' by wearing a shirt, tie, and sweater when he was working in the garden to change his mood.

| 4月26日 叔母に英国のカード (左) を送る前に撮影して 残そうと思いました。 右のグラス入りクレソンはたまたまテーブルにあり、 そのグラスがちょっと特別だったのでそれも一緒に撮影しました。 26th of April Before sending the British card (left) to my aunt, I decided to take a photograph as a memory.
