1) 特別展示 / SPECIAL EXHIBITION
今回の金沢旅行のきっかけでもあり、最大の目的が、
オラファー・エリアソン (1967 ~) の展覧会を見ることででした。
2019年に英国へ行った際に、テート・モダンで開催されていた
"Olafur Eliasson in real Life"
(2019年7月11日 ~ 2020年1月5日)
(2019年7月11日 ~ 2020年1月5日)
を見ました。
2019年の展覧会は下記。
東京での展覧会に、ぜひ行きたいと思いましたが、コロナ禍になってしまい、行くことができませんでした。
金沢21世紀美術館で、'オラファー・エリアソン展' があることを知り、すっかり、東京現代美術館で開催された展覧会が巡回したものであると思い混んでしまいました。
実際は、"特別展示"と表記され、1つの部屋に1点の作品が展示されているだけでした。
そのことをその場で経験するまで、知りませんでした。
知ったあとは、なんとも、気が抜けるというか、心が崩れ落ちるようでした。
自分の勘違い (思い込み) を笑ってもしまいました。
21美には、他にもたくさんの作品があり、刺激も受けましたし、楽しめました。

SPECIAL EXHIBITION
The main purpose of my trip to Kanazawa was to see an exhibition of Olafur Eliasson (1967-) as well as it was the trigger for this trip.
When I went to Britain, Tate Modern held
11th of July, 2019 ~ 5th of January, 2020
and I visited there.
The Exhibition in 2019, below.
At that exhibition, I found that
Olafur Eliasson ・ "Olafur Eliasson: Sometimes the river is the bridge"
(9th of June - 27th of September, 2020)
I really wanted to go to the exhibition in Tokyo, but I couldn't go because of the coronavirus pandemic.
When I knew that there was an 'Olafur Eliasson Exhibition' in the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa : 21 bi,
I was completely confused as to what the exhibition held in the Art Museum was touring.
In fact, it was described as the "SPECIAL EXHIBITION" but only one work was displayed in one room.
I didn't know that until I experienced it on the spot.
After I found out, I felt like I was losing my mind, or rather, my heart was collapsing.
I even laughed at my own misconceptions.
21bi has many other works, and I was inspired and enjoyed them.

| 見るだけでなく、体験もする、 ここ最近の現代アートの定番です。 It is a staple of contemporary art these days that we can not only see but also experience.  万華鏡の中に入ったように感じました。 I felt like I was inside a kaleidoscope. |
2) オラファー・エリアソン / Olafur Eliasson
エリアソンは、写真、彫刻、ドローイング、デザイン、建築、大規模なインスタレーションなど、1990年代初頭からさまざまな表現活動に携わってきました。
エリアソンは1990年代半ばから万華鏡を作り続けています。
私は、"特別展示" の作品から万華鏡を彷彿させられましたが、この作品が彼にとって、'万華鏡の作品' にあたるのかはわかりません。

Olafur Eliasson
Olafur Eliasson (1967 -) is a Danish–Icelandic artist.
Olafur Eliasson has worked in a wide range of expression activities since the early 1990s, including photography, sculpture, drawing, design, architecture, and large-scale installations.
By the way, I describe him as an 'Icelandic artist', but other descriptions describe him as 'Danish'.
I was reminded of a kaleidoscope from the work of "SPECIAL EXHIBITION", but I don't know if this work corresponds to his 'Kaleidoscope work'.
3) "ウェーザー・プロジェクト"
"The Weather Project"
エリアソンを有名にしたのは、テート・モダン (ロンドン) のタービン・ホールで発表した"The weather project / ウェーザー・プロジェクト: ★ " (下の画像)です。
下記、Wikiより。
"エリアソンはタービンホールの壁の上方に半円形のオレンジ色の照明でできた巨大な沈まない太陽を掲げ、更に加湿器を設置して砂糖と水を混ぜ合わせた霧を発生させた。
タービンホールの天井には一面に鏡が張られ、半円形の照明は天井に反射して円形に輝き、鑑賞者たちは強力なオレンジ色の光の中、天井に小さな黒い影のような自分達を見ることが出来た。"
私は、英国留学の初期に、ウェーザー・プロジェクトを見て大きな衝撃を受けました。
私がこの作品を見たときは、多くの人が床に寝そべって見ていました。
この作品に感動し、それ以来、私は、この作家の作品に惹きつけられているように思います。

"The Weather Project"
"The Weather Project : ★/ ★" in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern, London, above, made him very popular.
According to Wiki about the work,
"Olafur used humidifiers to create a fine mist in the air via a mixture of sugar and water, as well as a semicircular disc (reflected by the ceiling mirror to appear circular) made up of hundreds of monochromatic lamps which radiated yellow light.
The ceiling of the hall was covered with a huge mirror, in which visitors could see themselves as tiny black shadows against a mass of orange light symbolizing the sun.
Many visitors responded to this exhibition by lying on their backs and waving their hands and legs. "
In the early years of studying in Britain, I received a great shock.
When I saw this work, many people were lying on the floor watching it.
I was moved by this work, and since then, I think I've been drawn to this artist's work.
4) 野外作品 / Outside Work
21美の野外に、"カラー・アクティヴィティ・ハウス"というオラファー・エリアソンの作品 (下の画像) があります。
21美の野外作品のほとんど (すべてかも？) が体験型です。
"カラー・アクティヴィティ・ハウス"も同様です。
自分が作品の中に入って、外をみることも面白い体験ですが、外から鑑賞者の流れを見るのもおもしろいな〜と今回思いました。

"カラー・アクティヴィティ・ハウス", 2010: ★ "Colour activity house", 2010: ★  この作品は、ほとんどの美術館の訪問者が 一度は体験するのではないかと思います。 I wonder if most museum visitors experience this work at least once. |
Outside Work
In the open air of 21bi, there is the work by Olafur Eliasson called "Colour activity house", above and below.
Most (maybe all?) of 21bi's outdoor works are experiential.
The same is true for the "Colour activity house".
It's an interesting experience to step inside the work and look outside, but this time I thought it would be interesting to see the flow of viewers from the outside.

"Colour activity house" reminded me of the
"Your Double-Lighthouse Projection", below.

東京都現代美術館でのオラファー・エリアソン展が巡回展であると勘違いしたせいで、金沢旅行を決行できました。
結果オーライ！
素敵な経験が21美でも、金沢でもできました。
金沢旅行については、複数のセクションに分けて、ブログに載せる予定です。
I was able to make a trip to Kanazawa because I misunderstood that the Olafur Eliasson exhibition in the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo was a touring exhibition.
Result alright!
I had a wonderful experience at both 21bi and Kanazawa.
I plan to divide my trip to Kanazawa into several sections and post them on my blog.
