1) 氷の国 /  Land of Ice

オラファー・エリアソン (1967 -) は、デンマーク生まれの

アイスランド共和国のアーティストです。

オラファー・エリアソンは、写真、彫刻、ドローイング、デザイン、建築、

大規模なインスタレーションなど、

1990年代初頭からさまざまな表現活動に携わってきました。

Olafur Eliasson (1967 -) is a Danish–Icelandic artist.

Olafur Eliasson has worked in a wide range of expression activities

since the early 1990s, including photography, sculpture, drawing, design,
 architecture, and large-scale installations.

'エリアソンは子供のころから定期的にアイスランド(共和国)を訪れました。

彼はアイスランドを、登山、ウォーキング、水泳、さらにはラフティングなど、身体的に関わる必要がある場所だと説明しています。'

と、テートのサイトで書かれています。

それを知ると、彼の '氷河や氷のシリーズ' ができてくることに納得が行きます。

ところで、オラファー・エリアソン展 のセクションの中で、私は彼を'アイスランド共和国のアーティスト'と説明しているのですが、彼のことを 'デンマーク人'と表記している説明も、他にあります。

アイスランド共和国とデンマークの関係が、私にはよくわかりません。

おそらく、かなり密接した関係なのだと思います。

現在、ベルリンに彼の仕事場があり、そこを拠点としています。

オラファー・エリアソンが扱う要素が、氷、水、光、リフレクション(反射・反映)など、私の好きな要素と重なります。

また、水など、同じ素材でも、条件、環境によって変化をしてゆくありように興味があるのも重なります。

なので、彼のインスタレーションは、私にとって、非常に、面白く、共感もでき、感動もより大きいです。

日本で開催する彼の展覧会 : ★がとてもとても楽しみです。

Land of Ice

Tate explains about Olafur Eliasson,

''Eliasson visited Iceland regularly in his childhood .

He has described Iceland as a place he needs to engage with physically – by climbing, walking, swimming or even water rafting. ''

Knowing that, I'm convinced that his "Glacial or Ice Series" were coming.

I'm not sure about the relationship between Iceland and Denmark.

Probably a pretty close relationship.

He currently has his studio and works in Berlin.

The elements that Olafur Eliasson works with overlap with my favorite elements such as ice, water, light, and reflection.

In addition, even if the same material, such as water, is used, it is interesting that it can change depending on the conditions and environment.

So, his installations are very interesting, sympathetic, and moving to me.

I'm really looking forward to his exhibition : ★ in Japan in 2020.

2) 氷河 / Glacial

'エリアソンは作品でしばしば氷河を使用します。

時々、氷河は気候の緊急事態に対する行動の必要性が意図されています。

温暖な気候により、グリーンランドの氷床 (ヒョウショウ) では
毎年約2,000〜3,000億トンの氷河が失われ、

その割合は劇的に増加すると予想されています。

 2018年にテートモダンの前で展示された"Ice Watch" : ★ は、

グリーンランド沖の水から

釣り上げられた氷の塊のインスタレーションです。

それは、北極の氷が溶けるという現実の直接的で具体的な体験を提供しました。'

According to Tate Website, about "Glacial currents"

" In Glacial currents 2018, chunks of glacial ice were placed on top of washes of coloured pigment. 

This created swells and fades of colour as they melted onto the paper beneath."
