延命橋
延命橋は滑川 (ナメリガワ) に架かっています。

Enmei Bridge
Enmei Bridge spans Nameri River.

延命橋は、神奈川県道311号鎌倉葉山線上にあります。

Enmei Bridge is located on the Kamakura Hayama Route 
of Kanagawa Prefectural Road 311.

橋から上流を見る
JR横須賀線の鉄道橋が見えます。
滑川には、時々サギがいます。

Looking Upstream From Bridge

You can see the railway bridge on the JR Yokosuka Line.

There are sometimes herons in Nameri River.

延命寺

延命寺 (エンメイジ) は何度も見ていたはずなのに、このお寺が
'延命寺' という名であることに気がついたのは今日でした。

Enmei-ji Temple

I have seen Enmei-ji Temple many times,
but it was today that I realized that
this temple was named 'Enmei-ji Temple'.

下記は、鎌倉市のサイト、延命寺についての引用。

"専蓮社昌誉能公上人（せんれんじゃしょうよ のうこうしょうにん）を開山として、鎌倉時代の執権北条時頼の夫人が建てたと伝えられています。

ここにまつられている地蔵像「身代わり地蔵」は、双六（すごろく）の勝負で旗色の悪かった夫人を救ったといわれています。

本堂裏手墓地に「古狸塚」という碑があります。

江戸時代の終わりごろ、この寺に住みついた狸がよく人に慣れており、酒好きな和尚のために酒を買いに行ったりして可愛がられていたといいます。

狸が死ぬと葬って碑をたて供養したと伝えられており、狸の墓というのは珍しいものです。

境内自由。鎌倉三十三観音第11番・鎌倉二十四地蔵第23番"

According to Kamakura City website, about Enmei-ji Temple, only in Japanese

"It is said that it was built by the wife of Hōjō Tokiyori, who was the fifth shikken (regent) of the Kamakura shogunate,  with the founder of a temple by a priest Senrenjashoyo-nokou.

The statue of Migawari Jizo enshrined here is said to have helped the wife who was not lucky in the game of Sugoroku which is one of Japanese board game.

Migawari Jizo : this Jizo takes the place of a person in danger, thereby protecting him.

There is a monument called "Kori-zuka : Old Raccoon Dog Mount " in the graveyard behind the main hall.

It is said that at the end of the Edo period, the raccoon dog lived in the temple, was familiar with people and would go to buy sake for a priest, who loved the raccoon dog.

And when the raccoon dog died, it was buried and a monument was erected for memorial service.

The raccoon dog's tomb is rare.

Free to enter the precincts."

新しい工房、TSUZUKU : 革工房を知りました。
ですが、まだ入店していません。
若い感覚を感じます。

New Studio

A new studio, TSUZUKU : I found out about the leather studio.

However, I haven't entered there yet.

I feel their young sense.

定期的
私がリトグラフ工房へ歩いて行く時に毎回見るヘリコプター
私の定期的な工房通いとヘリコプターの定期的な仕事(おそらくパトロール）
が同じ時間帯なのかもしれません。

Regular
 I see a helicopter every time I walk to the lithograph studio.
Maybe my going to regular studio and
helicopters regular work (probably patrol) are at the same time.

逆川沿の紅葉
色づいてゆくのが楽しみです。

Maple Tree along Sakasagawa River
I'm looking forward to the colours.

昔の街道の雰囲気があります。
It has the atmosphere of an old road.

2) リトグラフ工房 /  Lithograph Studio

今日は、新しい版を2つ作り、前回作った版を利用して、1版目を刷りました。

Today, I made two new plates and used the one I made last time to print the first layer.

1版め
5枚の違う紙に同じ版を刷りました。
(1枚撮影し忘れました)
版画紙、ファビリアーノ(イタリア製)、和紙などです。
今回は、初めて和紙をしています。
1枚撮影し忘れました。

1st Print Layer

I printed the same plate on 5 different sheets of paper.

(I forgot to photograph one)

Print paper, Fabriano (made in Italy), Washi (Japanese paper), etc.

This time, I am printing on Washi for the first time.

乾燥させます。
Let them dry.

丁寧に1つ１つの行程を済ませてゆきたいと思っています。

I would like to carefully complete each process.

2021年10月14日 柿の木を切った日 / The Day When the Persimmon Tree Was Cut, 14th of October 2021

写真はガラス越しに撮影しています。

Photographs were taken through the glass window.

リスのしっぽ
朝、リスが活発に動き回っています。
リスのしっぽが鉢から上がっています。
リスが栗や椿の実を鉢に埋めているのです。
'貯食行動'と呼ばれています。

Squirrel Tail

Squirrels are actively moving around in the morning.

The tail of the squirrel is rising from the pot.

The squirrel is burying chestnuts and camellia fruits in a pot.

It is called 'Hoarding'.

庭では、鉢だけでなく、栗の木の根元に栗をイガごと集めています。

In our garden, sweet chestnuts are collected not only in pots but also at the base of  the chestnut tree.

最後の柿
落ちた柿を食べています。
今日、柿の木を切るので、もうリス達は柿の恩恵を
得ることはできなくなります。
これが最後ですと、味わって食べてね。

Last Persimmon : Kaki

A  squirrel is eating a fallen persimmon : Kaki.

Today, the persimmon tree would be cut, 

so squirrels can no longer benefit from the persimmon tree.

This is the last, please taste and eat.

2) 切った後 / After Cutting

病気の柿/ Sick Persimmon
(10月5日/ 5th of October)

庭の柿の状態が思わしくありませんでした。

柿だけの問題でなく、落ち葉から他へ病気がうつります。

夫Rがほぼ毎日落ち葉を片付けています。

2年前から土壌から治療を始め、今年は少しは回復し、

3、4つ柿の実が色づきました。

ですが、彼の努力の甲斐もなく病気が他に移る傾向がありました。

2年間、柿に費やした時間との労力が報われませんでした。

以前からRは柿の木を切りたがっていたのですが、

なんとか病気がなおならないかと私が切ることを

躊躇 (タメラ)っていました。

結局、切ることにしました。

病気の柿/ Sick Persimmon
(10月5日/ 5th of October)

The condition of the persimmon in our garden had not been good.

It's not just a problem with persimmons, 

but diseases can be move from fallen leaves to others.

My husband R had collected the fallen leaves almost every day.

We started treatment from the soil two years ago and this year,

 it had recovered a little, and three or four persimmon fruits 

had changed colour.

However, his efforts were not worth the effort and

 the illness tended to move elsewhere.

R had always wanted to cut the persimmon tree, 

but I hesitated to cut it.

 After all I decided to cut it.

木を切ることは "猫の手" のTさんにお願いしました。

Tさんはロープを器用に使いつつ、他の木や電線にダメージが

及ばないように、一人で木を切ってくれました。

彼は、元気な木が復活する僅かな望みを残して

小さな芽を1つ残しました。

来年も土壌の治療は続けるつもりです。

I asked T San of "Cat's Hand" to cut the tree.

T San used a rope dexterously and cut the tree by himself 

so as not to damage other trees and cables.

He left a small sprout with little hope that 

a healthy tree would be resurrected.

I will continue to treat the soil next year.

Tさんは、切り口に、お茶目に栗を1つ置いて

仕事を終えました。

お疲れ様でした。

T San finished his work with a playful chestnut on the cut.

Thank you for your good work.

お供え？
木を切って庭が明るくなりました。
ですが、素直に喜べない気持ちがあります。
Tさんもきっと似たような気持ちがあったのでしょう。
栗1つで気持ちがふっと和らぎます。
不思議...
栗は木に対してのお供えなのかもしれません。

Offering?

Tree was cut and the garden became brighter.

However, I have a feeling that I cannot be honestly pleased.

T San must have had a similar feeling.

A single chestnut will soften my (our) feelings.

Wonder...

The Chestnut may be offering to tree.

3) 夕方の空 / Evening Sky

A. チヌーク / Chinook

CH-47 チヌーク
午後5時頃、CH-47 チヌークを見ました。
時々、鎌倉の空にチヌークを見ます。
通常のヘリコプターを見る回数よりは少ないです。
チヌークを見ると剣呑な気持ちがざわざわとします。
どうか、ただの輸送の仕事であって欲しいと願いもします。
'チヌーク'の元の意味は、北米のロッキー山脈の東側に
吹きおろしてくるフェーン風です。

群馬県のからっ風 (赤城颪 / アカギオロシ) に

似ているように感じます。

CH-47 Chinook

I saw a CH-47 Chinook around 5 pm.

From time to time, I see Chinooks over Kamakura.

It's less than the number of times I see a normal helicopter.

When I see Chinook, I feel an unsafe sensation.

I also hope that they do just a transportation job.

The original meaning of 'Chinook' is the foehn wind that 

blows down to the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains 

in North America.

I feel it is like Karakkaze (Akagi-oroshi) in Gunma Prefecture, Japan

 : downdraft blown down from the top of mountains in winter.

夕暮れの空は、方角によって同じ時間でも違う様相です。

撮影中にお〜っ！感動する景色でした。
During photographing, Wow! It was a moving view.

光は七里ヶ浜住宅街から。

 Look at Sagami Bay
The lights are from the Shichirigahama residential area.

2021年10月13日 庭に猿現る / Monkey Appears in Our Garden, 13th of October, 2021

庭に猿 / Monkey in Our Garden

3日前に、'鎌倉市防災・安全メール'で、猿が出没する可能性があるため、猿と出会った時の対処方法が送られてきました。

その後、毎日、どこそこに現れたというメールも送られて来ました。

一応、夫Rにも伝えていました。

10月13日、午後3時半ころ、我が家の庭に猿があらわれ、庭の栗を食べていました。

Monkey in Our Garden

Three days ago, I received 'Kamakura City Disaster Prevention ・ Safety Email' that told us what to do when we see a monkey because there is a possibility that a monkey will appear in Kamakura.

After that, every day, I received the email saying where a monkey had appeared.

Anyway, I did tell my husband R about it.

On 13th of October, around 3:30 pm, a monkey appeared in our garden and was eating our sweet chestnuts.

猿がいたはず....ですが、姿を撮影できませんでした。
鳥やリスを撮影するときは、彼らを警戒させないように
窓越しで撮影することが多いです。
にもかかわらず、私は窓を開けて猿を撮影しようとしました。
窓を開ける前には幸せそうに栗を食べていたのに、
開けたあとはすぐに逃げられてしまいました。
自分が動物園の猿や観光地の猿の人馴れした態度を
その猿に期待していたと気が付きました。
浅はかな思い込みでした。

There must have been a monkey ... but I couldn't photograph it.

When photographing birds and squirrels, 

I often photograph through windows so as not to alert them.

Nevertheless, I opened the window and 

tried to photograph the monkey.

Before opening the window, the monkey was 

happy to eat chestnuts, but soon after opening it escaped.

I realized that I was expecting the monkey to be familiar with 

the monkeys in the zoo and the monkeys in the tourist spots.

It was my thoughtless preconception.

1) キセキレイ / Grey Wagtail

 庭のキセキレイ
 キセキレイ (黄鶺鴒) の姿を初めて撮影しました。
撮影だけでなく、その存在を知ったのも初めてでした。
通常は水辺に生息しているようです。
今日は山に迷い込んだのでしょうか？

Grey Wagtail in Our Garden

  For the first time, I photographed Grey Wagtail (Motacilla Cinerea).

It was the first time for me, not only photographing, 

but also knowing of its existence.
It usually seems to live near water.
This would seem to be astray in a mountain today?

キセキレイとハクセキレイ(通常のセキレイ) の間くらいな姿です。

お腹の部分に色(薄いオレンジと黄色)があるので、

キセキレイと判断しました。

The figure looks between a Grey Wagtail and

 a White Wagtail (normal wagtail).

There are colours (light orange and yellow) on the abdomen, 

so I judged it to be a Grey Wagtail.

2) 料理3種 / 3 Kinds of Cooking

一度に大量に料理をし、容器に分け入れます。

家事の省略？

これも個展準備の1つなのかもしれません。

Cook a large amount at a time and divide into containers.

This may also be part of my preparations for the exhibition.

ヨーグルトポムポム
トップは皮付きの紅玉と縦スライスのバナナです。

Yogurt Pompom
The top is Jonathan apple with skin and a vertically sliced banana.

ヨーグルトポムポムは冷たくても美味しいけれど
温かい時の味は焼きたてのみです。
甘いものが苦手な私も通常は、
ヨーグルトポムポムはの焼き立ては食べます。

Yogurt pompom is lovely even when it is cold, 

but only when it is warm does it taste freshly baked.

I don't like sweets, but I do usually eat 

freshly baked yogurt pompom.

Stewed Pork Fillet with Tomato and Vegetables

これでしばらくはお料理をしなくても済むはずです！

These should save me from cooking for a while!

2021年10月11日 窯の試運転 / Kiln Test Run, 11th of October, 2021

窯の試運転
窯の試運転を開始しました。

Kiln Test Run
The test run of the kiln has started.

2台の窯
同じ窯が2台あります。
古い窯は低い温度 (約800度) しか維持ができません。
まずは新しい方の窯を試運転しました。

2 Kilns

There are two identical kilns.

The old kiln can only reach low temperatures (about 800 degrees).

First of all, I made a test run of the new kiln.

少しづつ
毎日、少しづつ制作を進めています。

Little by Little
I am working little by little on creating every day.

今までの個展準備では、音楽を聞いていました。

今回は、初めて音楽なしです。

その代わりに、木々を抜ける風の音、鳥の声、雨音、江ノ電の踏切の警報音などなどを聞いています。

時々、階下にいる夫Rのレコードでの音楽は聞いています。

素焼き前
素焼き前の作品は徐々に乾かしてゆきます。

Before Biscuit Firing
The work before biscuit firing is gradually dried.

I used to listen to music when preparing for my exhibition.

This time, for the first time, there is no music.

Instead, I hear the sound of the wind passing through the trees, the bird songs, the sound of rain, the warning sound of the Enoden railroad crossing, and so on.

From time to time, I listen to music on my husband R's record deck downstairs.
