Nファミリーは、一日センターロンドン観光をしましたが、私とRは彼らと食事を
するために出かけました。
私とRは、半日お休みをさせていただきました。
待ち合わせ場所は フォトナム アンド メイソン。

N Family
had a sightseeing day in central London all day, although I and R went there for the dinner with them.
I
and R had half a rest day.
The meeting place was Fortnum & Mason.

フォトナム アンド メイソン
待ち合わせ場所の条件を考えた時、思ったことは、
わかりやすく、お互い待っていても飽きずに安全、
なおかつ、食事する場所に都合が良いところでした。
そこがフォトナム アンド メイソン: F&Mでした。

When I thought about our meeting place,
it should be easy to find and while we wait for each other it is safe and not boring,
as well as it should be close to a place for dinner.
Then I decided on Fortnum & Mason.

F&M はディスプレイが有名
日本で同じようなディスプレイをすると垢抜けない印象ですが、
F＆Mのウィンドーには合っていると感じます。
Display of F&M is Famous
If these displays were in Japan, they might be considered unpolished,
however, I feel the displays suit F&M. |

珍しい紅茶をお土産にと思ってリストで、この二つを選びはしたものの、
高すぎて、買えませんでした。
どちらかは忘れましたが100g、２万円！
写真だけ撮りました。
I thought of unusual tea as souvenirs and selected these two from the list、
however, there are extremely expensive, so I cannot buy.
Although I forgot which tea, one is more than £100 per 100g.
I have got only photographs.

ドールハウスのよう
F&Mにはドールハウスのような、模型のようなディスプレイがいくつかあります。
F&Mのブランド カラーは 'Eau de Nil / ナイルの水'と呼ばれる
ピーコックグリーンに似ている色です。

実はF&Mの中の違うレストランに行きたかったのですが、そこが改装中でここに予約しました。

Actually
I wanted to go a different restaurant in F&M, however, that restaurant was still being refurbished, so we booked here.

美しく手際よく開けてくださいました。さすが〜〜！

ガスパッチョ、冷たいスープ
ガスパッチョを見たのは、10年以上前に友人に作ってもらって以来。
美味しかったのでレシピをもらいましたが、作っていませんでした。

ファミリーのYさんのなので、私は食べていません。
Gazpacho, Cold Soup
I hadn't seen Gazpacho since a friend made some over 10 years ago.
Hers was delicious so she gave me the recipe, although I have never cooked it.
However, this was for Y san of N family, so I did not eat. |

サンデー ロースト ビーフ
英語圏では、日曜日のディナーはローストブーフが伝統の一つです。
パブではランチにも出されていると思います。
British Sunday Roast Beef
ヨークシャー・プディングがローストビーフの伝統的な付け合わせです。
Yorkshire pudding is a traditional side dish for the roast beef. |

私の魚料理、鯛
レモンがガーゼに包まれています。
私は肉料理も魚料理も食べてしまいました。
でもデザートはなし。

ゆっくり楽しく食事をしていたら、F&Mで私たちが最後のお客になっていました。
レストランを出るまで、I階付近の店員の方々待っているのを知りませんでした。
わ〜、すみません！
そんなことを全く感じさせずに食事をさせてくださった配慮は素晴らしい！
We had our dinner slowly and enjoyed and then
we were the last customers to leave F&M.
We did not know that the staff of the ground floor were waiting for us
until we left the restaurant.
Wow, really sorry!
Their consideration was wonderful that they did not make us feel uncomfortable
while we finished our dinner. |
2)トラファルガー広場 / Trafalgar Square
既にナショナルギャラリーは、閉まっている事は知っていましたが、とにかく観光スポットなので...。

のワールドプレミアの会場 : ★にもなったので、
ハリーポッターが大好きなMちゃんとYちゃんには一石二鳥？
(ただ、現地にいた時には、誰もそのことを知らなかったのではないかと思うので、それがちょっと残念かな？)

鳥といえば、以前、たくさんいることで有名だった鳩(主にドバト)の姿は見られません。
のちに知りましたが、病原菌の元になること、排泄物に莫大な清掃費がかかることから、餌やりの禁止(罰金50ポンド)と鷹匠の導入(★)で激減しました。
鳩が苦手だった私には嬉しいことです。

Nファミリーにとっては最後の観光でした。
またぜひ英国へいらしてくださいね。

Here was the last sightseeing for N family.
Please come to Britain, again!

I knew the National Gallery was already closed, anyway the Square is a tourist spot...
And also I heard that the Square was the World Premier (★) of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2" [2011, Director : David Yates, (1963 -) ] : ★ / ★.
So it was killing two birds with one stone for M Chan and Y Chan who love Harry Potter.
Speaking about birds, it was well known that the Square was full of 'Feral Pigeons' before, this time I didn't see them.
Later I found out that they carry disease and huge money was needed for cleaning their waste, so it was decided to ban feeding and impose a penalty of 50 pounds for feeding and introduce a falconer into the Square and then the pigeon numbers decreased.
I am glad, I am weak about pigeons.

第4の台座 / The Fourth Plinth
トラファルガー広場で最も楽しみなのがこれです。
2005年から、ほぼ毎年コンテスト(The
Fourth Plinth Commission)
が行われます。
私が行くたびに違う作品が展示されています。
ここで選ばれる作品群は、ビミョーにキッチュなものが含まれているように
私には感じられます。
観光地のトラファルガーにあっているな〜と思います。

今年は、ハンス・ハーケ / Hans Haacke (1936 -)氏の作品。
The Fourth Plinth
I am looking forward to seeing this in the Square.
Almost every year they have had a competition :
The Fourth Plinth Commission, since 2005.
Every time I visited here it has had different works.
I feel these works have subtly kitsch taste.
I think they suit the Square which is a tourist spot.

馬の贈り物 / Gift Horse
来年は？
2016年はDavid Shrigley (1968 -)氏の "Really Good"。
ブロンズの彫刻作品で、サムズア ップ(親指たて)の形状で
高さ10mになるそうです。
来年は英国へ行く予定ではないので、私は見られないでしょう。
What is next year?
In 2016, a new work : "Really Good" made of bronze,
by David Shrigley (1968 -), will come here.
The work is a thumbs -up gesture of a human hand and
will be 10m high.
I do not plan to visit Britain next year, so I will not be able to see it. |
