この旅行で１番行きたかったのは、ゴールウェイ州のアラン諸島 / Aran
Islandsで、もっともがっかりしたのも、アラン諸島。
行くことを決めた後に、
『街道を行く - 愛蘭土紀行 Ⅱ』[ 1993 / 作 : 司馬遼太郎 (1923 -1996) / 朝日新聞社 ]
を読み、ぜひアラン諸島へ行きたいと思いました。
この本には公式ページ : ★があり、マップ付きで司馬氏の取材旅行 (1987年) が表示されています。
このページを知ったのは、今の今で、旅行前に知っていたら、もっと司馬氏のあとを追ったかもしれません...そうしたらもっとガックリ度がましたのかも？
この本で、アイルランドを愛蘭土と表示するのを初めて知り、素晴らしい当て字だな〜と感心しました。[蘭 (ラン) の漢字は、'良い香りを含む (閉じこめる) 植物' を意味しているそうです]
当て字は司馬氏が考えたものではありませんが、この当て字を使用した司馬氏はさすがです。(司馬先生、ありがとうございます）
その本でアラン諸島はケルト文化が色濃く残っているという内容がありました。
司馬氏の主目的もアラン諸島訪問でした。
のちに『街道を行く - 愛蘭土紀行 I』
[ 新装版 : 2009/ 作 : 司馬遼太郎 (1923 -1996) / 朝日新聞社 ]を読みました。

この第一章が"ケルト人"なのです！
そうですよ〜！アイルランドといえば、ケルトなんですよ〜〜〜！
もともと、ケルトの世界が好きな私は、ゴールウェイ州へ行くなら、ぜひここに！
と思ったのです。
けれでも、司馬氏がアラン諸島を訪ねたのは、1987年で、30年も昔のことでした。
この時間差 (年代差？) を考慮すれば、大方は察しがついて良いものを、ちょっと前くらいにしか認識をしていなかったので、期待が大きすぎたのです。
アラン諸島は私には観光地化されすぎていました。
観光地化された便利さを享受しつつ、がっかりするのは、身勝手な話です....。
私がアラン諸島に滞在する計画をすれば、もっとケルトの世界を感じることができたのではないかと思います。
アラン諸島に対する私の思いが足りなかったのでしょう...。
本の情報が古くても(ガイドブックではないし)、『街道を行く - 愛蘭土紀行I, Ⅱ』は、
面白い本で、その後も数度、ところどころを読み返しています。
またアラン諸島を訪ねたことは後悔していませんし、訪ねてよかったと思います。

In this trip I most wanted to go the Aran Islands in County Galway, my most disappointing was the Aran Islands.

could not go to County Galway on
our Ireland trip in 2006 and I decided I would go there in
this Ireland trip, after then I read a book
"Kaidō-wo-Yuku - Ireland-Kiko / Going by Roads - Journey Ireland, I"
[1993 / by Ryōtarō Shiba (1923 - 1996) / Asahi Shimbun company ] ,
and I wanted to go there.

Just
now I found the page, if I had known it before our trip, I might have
followed the author's research trip more ... If so, maybe I would
have been a bit more depressed?
From
this book, I first knew of the Japanese characters, Kanji
: 愛蘭土 for
Ireland which are phonetic equivalents.
It
is the phonetic equivalent, although if I translate their
meanings,
愛(Ii) is love,
蘭 (lan) is orchid,
土(Do) is land in Japanese,
I could be impressed that it is a wonderful phonetic equivalent.

The
Kanji were not made by the author, Shiba, though the author used the
Kanji which was his own taste and I feel he is great.
The
book says that the Celtic culture remained strong in the Aran
Islands.
Shiba's
main purpose was also to visit the Aran Islands.

Ireland, Ⅱ" [new version in 2006 / by Ryōtarō Shiba / Asahi

first chapter of this book is "Celtic people"!
That's
right~! Speaking of Ireland, it is Celtic ~ ~ ~!
Basically,
I like the Celtic world, if I go to Galway, I must go there, that's
what I thought.
However,
Shiba visited the Aran Islands in 1987, it was 30 years ago.
If
I was considering this time difference, I should have guessed most
things, however, I felt his trip was only a short while ago, so my
expectations were too large.
The
Aran Islands was too touristic for me.
It
is a selfish story of my disappointment while enjoying the
convenience which came with touristic.
If
I plan to stay on the Aran Islands, I could feel the world of Celts
more.
I
think my passion for the Aran Islands was not enough ....
Even
if information is old in the books (anyway they are not guide-books), the two books are interesting,
and afterwards at different times I read some sections about the
places.
I
also do not regret having visited the rlan Islands, I was glad to
have visited.

エンヤの曲もずっと聴き続けています。
彼女の曲で、ゲール語だけでなく、私がアイルランドに興味をより持つようになりました。
彼女の曲を聞いて湧いてくるイメージが私のファンタジー世界にぴったりはまり、当初はそれは英国からくるものだと思いました。
けれども、かなり後になって、それがアイルランドからのものであると知りました。
アイルランドの言語を回復するための政策の一つですが、ゲール語話者は、減少し続けているようです。
司馬氏は『街道を行く - 愛蘭土紀行
2』の中で、アイルランドの若年層では、ゲール語があまり歓迎されていない様子を書いていたと記憶しています。
ちなみに私達が泊まった 'Abbeyville
B&B'のオーナーのバーナーデトゥ/ Bernadette
はゲール語が話せます。
またRは彼女の名前は、とてもアイルランド語(ゲール語)の響きが感じられると言っていました。

It was quite a long time ago that I knew of 'Gaelic' from Enya (1961 -) 's song.
I have listened to Enya's songs since then.
I became interested in Gaelic from her music but also I became more interested in Ireland.
The images coming from listening to her songs are perfect for my fantasy world and
I initially thought that my images came from Britain or England.
However, much later, I found out that my images are from Ireland.
Among Ireland, not only in the Aran Islands but also in County Galway, the perception that Celtic culture is still more than others seems to be general,
and R's friends thought that way.
In Galway County there is Gaeltacht which is the official language in Gaelic (Irish) .
It is one of the policies to restore the language of Ireland, but Gaelic speakers are still decreasing.
I remember that the author, Shiba wrote about Gaelic in "Kaidō-wo-Yuku : Ireland-Kiko / Going by Roads - Journey Ireland, 1" that Gaelic did not seem to be welcomed so much by the young generation of Ireland.
By the way, we stayed in 'Abbeyville B&B' and the owner, Bernadette speaks Gaelic.
Also R said to me her name sounds Irish (Gaelic) to him.

と飛行機 /
Ferry and Aeroplane
観光客がアラン諸島 に行くのはいくつかの方法があり、私は一般的な方法のフェリーを選びました。(フェリーで行く方法もいくつかあります）
そのフェリーは、イニシュモア / Inishmore 行きで、
'ロッサヴィール / Rossaveal / Ros an Mhíl '
から発着します。
飛行機で島へ渡る方法もあります。
司馬氏は飛行機を希望していましたが、天候に恵まれず、フェリーでした。
バーナ村 (Barna Village)からロッサヴィールへ向かうときや、イニシュモア島でも、青空を飛ぶ清々しい姿の小型機を見ました。

アラン諸島は3つの島からなり、西側から、
イニシュモア（英: Inishmore、愛: Inis
Mór）、
イニシュマーン（英: Inishmaan、愛: Inis Meáin）、 イニシィア（英: Inisheer、愛: Inis Oírr）です。
The
Aran Islands consists of three islands, from the west side,

There are several ways tourists can go to the Aran Islands, I chose a general ferry.
The ferry goes to Inishmore and departs from 'Rossaveal / Ros an Mhíl'.
There is also a way to cross to the island by aeroplane.
The author, Shiba wished go the island : Inishmore by aeroplane but the weather did not suit flying, so he used a ferry.
I saw small planes flying in the blue sky when we drove towards Rossaveal from
Barna Village and while we visited Inishmore.

なぜかわかりませんが、この日に撮影した写真は、赤みが強くて、
紫のフィルターを通しているようになりました。

Arriving just before the next sailing time,
anyway we managed to get on the ferry.
I do not know why, but the photographs taken on that day,
seem reddish and look as if they have passed through a purple filter.

The ferry wavered quite a bit and I felt I was on a light roller coaster,
I enjoyed it, however, when I turned to look at R beside me, he was pale!
