/
Views of Wales and Legends
ベッツィコエッド / Betws-y-Coed から シュルーズベリ / Shrewsburyへ向かいました。
途中、スランゴスレン / Llangollen の街を通過したので、2006年の旅を思い起こしていました。
スランゴスレンには、Castell
Dinas Branという城の遺跡があり、アーサー王伝説が伝えられ、アーサー王の聖杯があったとも言われています。
Castell
Dinas Branは丘の上にあります。
遺跡も面白い形で、眺めも良く、その場ではアーサー王の世界に浸ることができて、幸せでした。
などという思いを車の中で思い出していました。

Views of Wales and Legends
We
drove from Betws-y-Coed to Shrewsbury.
On
the way, we passed through Llangollen,
so I remembered our journey in 2006.
The
theme of that trip was "Following King
Arthur and the Great Wizard Merlin".
There
is the ruin of the castle called 'Castell
Dinas Bran' in Llangollen, it is said that there held the Holy
Grail of King Arthur in the legend of King Arthur.
Castell
Dinas Bran is on the top of the hill.
The
ruin was interesting in shape, the view was good, and I was happy
that I could soak in the world of King Arthur in that spot.
I
remembered this in the car.

運河
英国は運河が発達しています。
どの運河もテムズ川に繋がっていると聞きました。
Canal
In the UK there is a large canal network.
I
heard that every canal is connected to the River
Thames.

Pontcysyllte
Aqueduct
2006年の旅では、私達はこの橋を利用した、ボート・トリップ
( Llangollen Wharf ; Llangollen Canal )をしました。 
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
This bridge is a canal bridge over the River Dee.
In the trip of 2006, we had a boat trip Llangollen Wharf ; Llangollen Canal
which used this Aqueduct. |

| "The Armoury"
英国で最大かつ、世界で最古 (ギネスブック入り) の
"フラワーショー/ Shrewsbury Flower Show"も、シュルーズベリ の 'クオリー公園 / Quarry Park' で毎年8月半ばに開催されます。
街のいたるところにある花々がとても綺麗です。
"Shrewsbury Flower Show" is the largest in Britain
and the oldest in the world (Guinness World Records),
held in 'Quarry Park' in mid-August every year.
The flowers in every part of the city are very beautiful.

私達は、2015年7月にシュルーズベリ / Shrewsbury を訪れています。
(シュルーズベリ もしくはシュローズブリ)
そのときのテーマは、"カドフェルを追って"でした。
その時の旅行については下記。

We
visited Shrewsbury in
July, 2015.
The
theme of that trip was "Following Cadfael".
Cadfael is
a main character of the 'Brother
Cadfael Series' (1977 - 1994)
[by Edith
Mary Pargeter (1913-1995)] and Shrewsbury is the
location of the Stories.

美味しそう....でも
Rはいつものように、彼の食の問題をスタッフと相談、そして、この肉料理を出してもらいました。
ですが、彼の食べられない何かが入っていたようで(多分ポテトの中)、彼の満足は得られませんでした。
それを知ったスタッフは、
「事前に連絡があればRに合わせたものを用意できます」
と言っていました。
It
looks delicious....but...
As
usual, R consulted
with the staff about his food problems, and
the fish dish was served.
However, something
he could not eat was in (probably potatoes), and
he was not satisfied.
After
the staff knew about it, she said
"If
you tell us your visiting before, we could ready food for you".
私はラムシャンクを！
美味しかったです〜！でも...
ものすごいボリュームで、残念ながら、食べきれませんでした。
私でも食べきれないということは、きっと日本女性のほとんどは食べきれないでしょう。 I got Lamb Shank.
It
was delicious! However, it was a tremendous volume,
unfortunately I could not eat it all.
I
can not eat all which means that
most Japanese women will not be able to finish them. |
B. セヴァーン川 / River
Severn
シュルーズベリは、英国でもっとも長い川のセヴァーン川 / River
Severn に囲まれています。
"The
Armoury"の前から、セヴァーン川のクルーズツアーが出ています。
Shrewsbury is
surrounded by the River
Severn which
is the longest river in Britain.
A

川辺の花 / Riverside flowers
C. クオリー公園 / Quarry Park
クオリー / Quarry というのは採石場のことで、この公園はもともとは採石場であったので、この名前が付いています。
Though
I wrote about 'Quarry Park' in "A. Lunch", a big flower
show, "Shrewsbury Flower Show" is held every year.
Originally
the park was a quarry, hence the name.

| 公園は、通常の地面より掘り下げられた所にあるので、 敷地内に入らないとこんなに綺麗な世界があると気がつきません。 Since the park is set in a place excavated from the usual ground level, we do not notice there is such a beautiful world there unless we enter this world.  |

これでアイルランド旅行を終えます。
往路のチェスター / Chester 、復路のベッツィコエッド / Betws-y-Coed と シュルーズベリ / Shrewsbury は、英国ですが、アイルランド旅行過程なので、アイルランド旅行として扱いました。
留学した当時の初心を思い出した旅になりました。
This
concludes our Ireland Trip.
Though Chester on the outward journey, Betws-y-Coed and Shrewsbury on our return are in Britain, these places were part of the trip, so I treated all as an Irish trip.
This was a journey which reminded me of my original feelings, wishing to study in Britain.
