そのついでにと言っては、母に失礼ですが、同日に、実家の母を鎌倉に連れて帰ってきました。
先生にはお会いしませんでしたが、会場のカフェの店主さんが先生に電話をして、私達が話せるように計らってくださいました。感謝！
母を桐生へ送った際にも、会場を再び訪ねました。
その時は姉と母も一緒です。
その日は、リコ先生はお忙しいかったのですが (法事でした）、時間を作っていただいて、合うことができ、いくつかの作品の説明を直接聞くこともできました。
ありがとうございました。
また先生のお嬢さんは、私の高校の同級生のMちゃんで、彼女とも会えておしゃべりできて嬉しかったです。
彼女は今、アクセサリーを作っているそうです。

I went to my former teacher, Riko Arai's exhibition in my home town.
Given that I was there, though it might be rude for my mother, anyway, I brought her from the town to my house in Kamakura on the same day.
I had seen Riko Sensei's works in the Okawa Museum of Art or an art group, 'Shunyo-kai''s exhibitions, although after Britain, it was first time I visited her solo exhibition.
I did not see Riko Sensei, although the owner of the exhibition place, a cafe, phoned Riko Sensei and he let us have conversation by phone. Thank you!
When I went back to Kiryu with my mother and my sister from Kamakura, I visited the exhibition again with them.
At that time, Rico Sensei made time for me (or us?) in her busy day, I could see her and hear explanations about her works from Sensei.
Thank you very much!
Moreover, Sensei's daughter, M Chan, was a friend in my high-school, I could see her as well and we chatted, so I was pleased.
Nowadays, she makes accessories.

リコ先生は、リトグラフの作家、でも私は先生から石膏デッサンだけを教わりました。
白木の工房に石膏像が並び、数人の生徒が描く木炭の音だけが響き、時折先生が生徒に指導する物静かな声がする... 今でもその空間を覚えています。
いつも騒々しい私が、この時ばかりは静かでした。
リコ先生は、私達にゆっくり描く時間を与え、私達は3ヶ月で一枚仕上げてゆきました。
私は対象をじっくり眺め、観察できました。
穏やかな時間の中で制作する心の落ち着きを経験しました。

それだけ、印象深い時期だったのだと思います。
Riko Sensei is a lithograph artist, although I just learned plaster figure drawing.
The studio was built of plain wood, there was lined with plaster figures, the only sounds were made as a few students drew with charcoals, sometimes Sensei's sedate voice gave us advice.
Even now I remember that space.
I am usually noisy, although there I was quiet.
Riko Sensei gave us enough time and we generally took three months for each drawing.
I could take my time at looking and observing.
I had experience that my heart calmed down for creating or making in peaceful time.

さくらみち
昨年12月にもリコ先生の個展がありました。 先生が私にだしてくださったDMは先生へ戻ってしまったので、 私はその個展を知りませんでした。
今回のDMは届きました。
12月にいらしたお客様の、この'さくらみち'をぜひまた見たいという
強い希望があり、今回の個展開催になりました。
道のカーヴが、未来を思わせます。
でもそう思ったあとに、来た道？とも思い、過去を思わせます。

Riko's
Exhibition was held last December, too.
She
sent me her DM, although it was returned to her,
so
I did not know about it.
I
did get her DM this time.
A
visitor in December desired looking at this work again,
so
her exhibition was held again in May.
The curve of the avenue might remind us our future.
However,
after I had the idea, I thought
it
might be that I came from the avenue, the past.
作品に添えて
'さくらみち'
は、一瞬の人生を思わせる風景なのでしょう。

writing shows us a phrase by a Buddhist priest of
the highest order (1927 -)
I think the view of 'Sakura-michi' reminds us of our momentary life. |

| 古城 リコ先生のご主人は、世界的に有名な、 テキスタイル・プランナーの新井 淳一 (1932 - / ★ / ★) 氏です。 2011年に、英国王立芸術大学院 / ロイヤル・カレッジ・オヴ・アート (RCA） で名誉博士号を授与されました。 その際、先生も英国を一緒に訪れ、この作品の風景に出会ったのです。 新井 淳一氏の展覧会 (2013) については下記 ❸2013年春 - 新井淳一展 ／Spring in 2013 - Junichi Arai Ex... Old Castle Riko Sensei's husband is a world-renowned textile planner, Junichi Arai (1932 - / ★ /★). He received an Honorary Doctorate from “The Royal Collage of Arts” , 2011.
At that time, she went to Britain with him, and she saw this view.
