❶2017年6月3日 二階堂 - 鍋島緞通展示会 / Nabeshima Dantstu Exhibition in Nikaido, 3rd of June, 2017

友人、Yちゃんの大学時代の友人、吉島 夕莉子 (ヨシジマ ユリコ / ★)さんが家業をついで、鍋島緞通 (ナベシマダンツウ) を作っており、その展示会が鎌倉二階堂で開かれるというのを彼女でメールで知りました。

夕莉子さんは、五代目になります。

“日本三大緞通”のひとつが佐賀県の「鍋島緞通」で、他の二つは

大阪府の「堺緞通 (サカイ ダンツウ/ ★)」、
兵庫県の「赤穂緞通 (アコウ ダンツウ/ ★ / ★)」
です。

少し、リサーチしてみましたら、一家族で途切れることなく伝統技術が継がれてきたのは、鍋島緞通のみのようでした。

そして吉島家で制作される緞通のみが「鍋島緞通」と呼ばれるものだそうですが、法律的な規制はないそうで、鍋島緞通の名を語った商品が出回っているそうです。

鍋島緞通は、私には、ちょっと手がでない価格ですが、なぜその価格なのかというのも納得する次第。

素材が木綿であるというのを知り、びっくりしました。

ウールだと思っていました。

My friend, Y Chan, e-mailed me some information about her university friend, Yuriko Yoshijima succeeded to her family business which is Nabeshima-Dantsu (Dantsu is thick hand -made carpet) and that their "Exhibition and Spot Sale Fair" would be in Nikaido, Kamakura.

Yuriko San is the 5th generation.

One of  the three Great Dantsu in Japan is  Nabeshima-Dantsu in Saga Prefecture and the others are Sakai-Dantsu in Osaka Prefecture and Ako-Dantsu in Hyōgo Prefecture.

I researched a little, it is only Nabeshima-Dantsu that have passed down traditional techniques within a family group without a break.

And also I heard that it can only be called "Nabeshima-Dantsu" if made by the Yoshijima Family, although the naming does not have any legal control so some pretend products might use the name.

I cannot reach the prices of 'Nabeshima-Dantsu', although I understand why the prices are not cheap.

The material is cotton and I was surprised, because I thought it was wool.

二階堂は以前住んでいた地域で、会場は、

私が何度か通ったことがある道沿いにあります。

「ここ、何かしら？」

と好奇心を起こさせる家でしたが、

GADNA House という名前さも知りませんでした。

この日まで、公開かれているところを、見たこともありませんでした。

The exhibition was held on a road along which I had walked some times

 when I had lived in Nikaido.

The house made me curious

"What is the house for?"

However, I did not even know the name, 'GADNA House',

and I had never seen when they were open to the public until that day. 

キャ〜素敵〜！と思いつつ先へ進みます。

プロの手を感じる庭、空間です。

While I thought "WoW! It was fantastic!"

I walked ahead.
I feel a professional hand in their garden and space.

開放感がある空間に、素敵にディスプレイ
道から見他時には、ここが何かのスタジオか '離れ' に思えました。
こんな風になっているのね〜と好奇心を満足させました。

別棟の2階にも展示されていました。
伝統柄だけでなく、新しい柄も制作されていました。
色も好きな柄がいくつかありましたが
それらをここでお見せできないのが残念です。
以前、柄をコピーされたことを非常に気にしていらして、
写真撮影はできませんでした。
私も含め、多くの作り手は、その経験があるのでしょうが、
その後の対応は、人それぞれです。
ここで鍋島緞通をお見せできなくともこちらで

Lovely Display in Open Space
When I had seen here from road, I thought here was a studio for something
or a detached room.
Now I know here is like this and my curiosity was satisfied.

There was another display of Nabeshima-Dantsu
on the first floor in another annex.
There were not only traditional patterns but also new patterns.
Some of them were my favourite colours and patterns,
however, I could not show you here, because they had experienced that 
somebody copied their work and they have been mindful since then,
so they do not allow photographs.
I think, including me, many makers or creators have this experience,
subsequently we cope with the problems each, each person is different.
Though I could not see Nabeshima-Dantsu here,

It suits here.

別棟の1階では、中国茶会のパフォーマンスが
 森一華 (モリ ヒトハナ)さんによって行われていました。

以前、私は一華さんの中国茶会に参加したこともありました。

そのときは招山ギャラリー・由比ヶ浜のある、

洋画家 朝井閑右衛門 (1901 ~ 1983) の母屋で開催されていました。

2015年の個展を招山ギャラリー・由比ヶ浜でした際には、

一華さんはいらしてくださり、作品もお買い上げしてくださいました。

ありがとうございました。

ここで偶然にもお会いでき嬉しく思います。

一華さん、相変わらずお美しい方だな〜と思いました。

The performance of Chinese Tea Ceremony was managed 

by Hitohana Mori on the ground floor of another annex.

Previously I have joined her Chinese Ceremony.

At that time, it was next to Shouzan Gallery, Yuigahama,

in a painter, Kan-uemon Asai(1901 ~ 1983)'s house.

She visited my Exhibition in Shouzan Gallery, Yuigahama, 2015

and bought my works, thank you.

I was pleased I could see her here by chance.

I thought she is as beautiful as ever.

美しいものを見て、癒しの庭を歩いて、良い気分でその場を離れました。

向かうは、二階堂に住む、友人Sさんの家です！

I looked at  beautiful things, walked in the healing garden and I left there with a good feeling. 

My next stop was at my friend, S San's house in Nikaido.
