ユトレヒトの "セントラル博物館 / Centraal Museum" へ行った私の目的は、ミッフィー (うさこちゃん) / Miffy の創作者、ディック・ブルーナ / Dick Bruna (1927 - 2017) の再現されたアトリエを見ることと、
ヘリット・トーマス・リートフェルト/ Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888 - 1964) の椅子を見ることでした。

あとは、目的もなく気ままに博物館を見てわまりました。
館内の撮影は許されていたので、気になった作品を撮影しました。
私はこのアーティストを初めて知りました。
この展覧会では、ストックホールダーが、アーティスト兼 学芸員の両方を務めています。
のちにわかったのですが、彼女の展覧会は私が思っていたよりも大規模でした。
彼女の作品とわかっていずに、かなり多くの作品を撮影していました。
私は彼女のセンスが結構好きなのだと気がつきました。
また、彼女は、博物館所蔵とのコラボレーションをのぞみ、彼女自身が所蔵品の中から作品を選択していました。
その上、選択したオブジェなどの一部を彼女がレイアウトし直して、彼女の新しい作品としてしあげてもいました。

彼女の制作の仕方は、デイル・チフリ / Dale Chihuly (1941 ~) の仕事ぶりを思い起こしました。
私はデイル・チフリが大好きです。
そういえば、チフリの色もかなりカラフルで、ストックホールダー の作品も鮮やかな色彩です。
無難な色彩でまとめるよりも、強い色同士を組み合わせて、なおかつ調和を生み出す流儀に惹かれます。
そのアーティストの新作への意気込みが、熱い思いが、伝わってきて、刺激になります。
無難な色彩でまとめた好きな作品もあるので、その流儀だけが好きというわけでもない、優柔不断な私です(苦笑)。
ですが、ジェシカ ・ストックホールダー も博物館の所蔵品からは、渋目の色合いの絵画を選んでいました。

When I visited the "Centraal Museum" in Utrecht, my purpose was to visit the Studio of Dick Bruna (1927-2017) who create Miffy and
look at the chairs of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888 - 1964) (1888-1964).

As for other things, I freely browsed the museum without any purpose.
I was allowed to photograph in the museum, so I photographed the works that I was interested in.
The exhibition including the installation of Jessica Stockholder (1959 ~) was impressive.
It was first time I knew of this artist.
Stockholder worked as both artist and curator for her exhibition.
I found out later that her exhibition was bigger than I thought.
The Exhibition's title was "Jessica Stockholder, Stuff Matters" : ★

Though I didn't know they were her works, I photographed quite a lot.
So I realized that I like her taste.
And also she wanted to collaborate with the Museum collection, and she chose the works from their collection.
In addition, she re-laid out some of the selected objects, etc. to make into her new works.

That kind of production reminds me of works of Dale Chihuly (1941 ~).
I love Dale Chihuly .
Now that the colours of Chihuly are also quite colorful, and the works of Stockholder are also vivid.
Rather than putting together in safe colours, I am attracted to the combination of strong colours and the creation of harmony.
The artist's enthusiasms for the new work conveys their passions, which are inspiring for me.
I have some favourite works that they put together in safe colours which shows I do not have to like only the strong combinations, so I'm indecisive (Wry smile).
However, Jessica Stockholder also chose paintings in astringent shades from the museum collection.
According to their website : ★
"We are showing special loan pieces, new sculptures and an installation that Stockholder created specifically for this exhibition.
We also invited Stockholder to incorporate pieces from our huge museum collection.
As Stockholder explains:
「I have selected items from the collection that resonate with my own work.
In a certain sense I treated the collection as one of my materials, and have investigated how the meaning of each work changes depending on the context.」 "

"他の場所から特別に貸し出してもらった作品、新作彫刻、そしてストックホールダーが本展のために特別に制作したインスタレーションを展示しています。
また、ストックホールダーは、膨大な博物館コレクションからアイテムを選び、本展に組み込みました。
ストックホールダーは、
「私は自分の作品に共鳴するコレクションからアイテムを選択しました。
ある意味では、コレクションを自分の材料の1つとして扱い、状況ごとに各作品の意味がどのように変化するかを探求しました。」"

この作品に惹かれましたが、これが彼女の作品だとは気がつきませんでした。
彼女が博物館のアイテムを使用したか、
そのアイディアを使用したかの判断がつきませんが、
コラボレーション作品の1つです。
I was fascinated by this work, but I didn't realize it was her work.
It's unclear if she used the museum item or the idea,
but it's one of collaborative pieces.

彼女の作品には、私の好きな美があります。
彼女のセンスが好きです。
プラハの屋外で見た、青い椅子のオブジェを思い出しました。
でもそのオブジェはあまり好きではありませんでした。
似たような作品でもアーティストのセンスや思考の違いで、
見る方も好き嫌いが出ます。
Her work has my favorite beauty.
I like her taste
I remembered the blue chair object I looked at outside in Prague.
Even with similar works, people might like or dislike
because of the artists's different senses and thoughts.
