1) "RIKI" のパン / Bread from "RIKI"

10月9日、神戸の友人Mさんから、"RIKI (リキ)"のパンが届きました。

店名は、"パン焼きどころRIKI"で、神戸元町にあります。

"RIKI"は、Mさんほか、複数の友人達からのおすすめのパン屋さんです。

私と夫Rは、2017年12月に神戸へ旅行し、私達は神戸でパン屋巡りをしました。

このパン屋さんには、12月14.15日の2日間行きました。

Rが非常に気に入ったのと、14日の午後に行った時は、ほぼ売れ切れ状態でしたので、翌朝、開店時間すぐに、再び訪ねました(下記)。

運よく、私達の宿泊していたホテルからRIKIは近かったのです。

今回、Mさんも開店時間に行って、購入してくれ、全てを冷凍し、送ってくれました。感動！

Bread from "RIKI"

On October 9th, M san, one of my friends in Kobe sent us "RIKI" bread.

The name is "Yakidokoro RIKI; Bakery Riki" and it is in Motomachi, Kobe.

"RIKI" is a bakery recommended by M san and some other friends.

I and my husband R traveled to Kobe in December 2017 and we went on a bakery tour in Kobe.

We went to this bakery on two days, 14th and 15th of December.

R likes their bread very much, and when we visited there on the afternoon of the 14th, it was almost sold out, so we visited again the next morning, shortly after the opening time (below).

Fortunately, the bakery was close to our hotel in Kobe.

M san also went to the Bakery at the opening time, bought them, froze everything, and sent them to us. Impressed!

         "Encyclopedia of Moomins"

モランのカード
"モラン" と言われて、なんのことかわかる人が
どれほどいるでしょう？
"モラン" は、ムーミン・シリーズの登場人物の一人です。
荷物の中でこれを見た時、私はすぐにわかりました。
なので、Mさんは、このポストカードを私に選び、
メッセージを書いてくれたのでしょう。

How many people know what it means to be called 

"Mårran / Groke"?

"Groke" is one of the characters in the Moomins series.
When I found this in the parcel, I knew it immediately.
So M san chose this postcard for me and wrote her message.

Mさんと私は、大阪府立国際児童文学館 (オオサカコクサイジドウブンガクカン) 主催の "ムーミン・ゼミ" で知り合いました。

ゼミ終了後、私はそのグループを抜けましたが、いく人かのメンバーは活動を続け、　

『ムーミン童話の百科事典 』(1996/ 講談社 / 下の画像) 

を出版しました。

Mさんは、この本の編集の中心人物の一人でした。

彼女は、お礼のメッセージを本の見返しに添えて、プレゼントしてくれました。

私には嬉しい驚きでした。

それは、ずっ〜と以前のこと、私が英国留学を決心する前でした。

It is a  book that feels the love for Moomins of the people

"Encyclopedia of Moomins"

M san and I met in the "Moomins Seminar", sponsored by 

International Institute for Children's Literature, Osaka Prefecture.

After the seminar, I left the group, but some members continued their activities and

they published "Encyclopedia of Moomins", above.

M san was one of the central figures in the editing of this book.

She gave me the book with a thank-you message on the inside.

It was a pleasant surprise for me.

That was a long time ago, before I decided to study in Britain.

B. モランのこと / About Groke

違う言語でも、'ムーミン' は比較的発音が近い言葉が選ばれてるのに対し、モランはかなり違います。

例 : スウェーデン語の名前 Mårran、フィンランド語の名前 Mörkö、

ノルウェー語の名前Hufsa、英語の名前 Groke

日本語はスウェーデン語と似ています。

モランの最大の特徴は、彼女が触れるものはすべてが凍ってしまうことですが、ディズニーの『アナと雪の女王』(2013)のエルサも同様でした。

二人の根本的な悲しみは似ているのかもしれません。

"Mårran / Groke" Entry in the Book

About Groke
Even in different languages, 'Moomin' characters names are chosen for words that are relatively similar in pronunciation, comparing Groke, they are quite different.

For examples, Swedish name Mårran, Finnish name Mörkö, 

Norwegian name Hufsa.

Groke's greatest feature is that everything she touches freezes, as did Elsa in "Disney's Frozen" (2013).

The underlying sorrows of the two may be similar.

私と夫Rは、二階堂の三日月カフェの後に、二階堂の友人の家に寄ってみました。

三日月カフェについては下記。

留守でした。

実は昨晩、この友人カップルS&Yは、鎌倉山の私達の家をちょこっと訪ねてくれていました。

連絡をしてみると、彼らは、'オクトバーフェスト 鎌倉' の会場、市役所の駐車場にいました。

私達もそこへ向かい、彼らと合流し、一緒に飲みました。

結局、私達は、'オクトバーフェスト 鎌倉' 開催の両日、そこでビールを飲んだのでした。

I and my husband R stopped by a friend's house in Nikaido after Crescent Cafe in Nikaido, Kamakura.

About the Cafe, below.

❹ 2019年10月6日 三日月カフェ - 鎌倉 / Crescent Cafe in Kamaku...

They were away.

In fact, last night, this friend couple S&Y made a short visit to our house in Kamakurayama.

When I contacted them, they were at the 'Oktoberfest in Kamakura' venue : the car  park of Kamakura City Government.

We also went there, met them and drank with them.

After all, we drank beer there on both days of the 'Oktoberfest in Kamakura'.

2) 駅前カフェ / Cafe in front of Station 

カップルS&Yと鎌倉駅前のカフェへ連れて行っていただきました。

このカフェ: "ダンデライオン・チョコレート"は、2017年にオープンされましたが、私達はまだ利用したことがありませんでした。

チェーン店で、日本にも海外にもお店があります。

ガラスと木の素材が印象的なカフェです。

Unfortunately, the Kamakura shop closed in May 2020.

The couple S&Y took us  a cafe in front of Kamakura station.

This cafe : "Dandelion Chocolate" was opened in 2017, but we hadn't used it.

It is a chain shop, and there are shops both in Japan and overseas.

The cafe has impressive glass and wood materials.

It's fitted with glass, so you'll feel bright
and refreshing during the day.

私はカフェ・オレ
チョコレート系を注文すべきでしょうけれど、
甘いもの、苦手なので.....。
左上の白の四角い物は、無料のお菓子、
マショマロだったと思います。
これはR用です。
マショマロは丸いイメージですがここは四角、
お店のオリジナリティを強調しているのかな？

My cup of  Cafe au lait.
I should order chocolate, but I'm not good at sweets .....
I think the white square on the upper left
was a free candy, Marshmallow.
This was for R.
The marshmallow has a round image,
but this is a square that emphasizes the originality of the shop?

Rはココアと紅茶
(ココアはチョコレートドリンクと呼ぶのかもしれません)

R had cups of cocoa and tea.
(Cocoa may be called a chocolate drink)

❹ 2019年10月6日 三日月カフェ - 鎌倉 / Crescent Cafe in Kamakura, 5th of October, 2019

私と夫Rは、食事を求めて、二階堂の"三日月カフェ"へ向かいました。

I and my husband R went to the "Crescent Cafe" in Nikaido, Kamakura for our meal.

庚申塔

鎌倉宮バス停から覚園寺 (カクオンジ) へ向かう途中に

庚申塔 (コウシントウ) があります。

(私には道祖神との違いはよくわかりませんが、

ここは庚申塔だと聞きました)

そこは、天園ハイキングコースへ入っていく分かれ道。

その道を登ってゆくと"三日月カフェ"はあります。

鎌倉に多くあるカフェにありがちな不定期営業のカフェです(笑)。

私は電話で確認をして向かいました。

 Kōshinto

There is Kōshinto on the way from the Kamakuragū bus stop to Kakuonji Temple.

(I don't really understand the difference from Dōsojin, but I heard that this is Kōshinto)

There is a fork in the Tenen Hiking Trail.

If you go up the path, you will find "Crescent Cafe".

It's an irregularly open cafe ;  

that is often found in many cafes in Kamakura (Laugh).

I confirmed by phone and we headed there.

Kōshinto is a stone pagoda built based on the Kōshin faith : Kōshin-shinkō.

According to Wiki about  Kōshin-shinkō.

"Kōshin (庚申) or Kōshin-shinkō (庚申信仰) is a folk faith in Japan with Taoist origins, influenced by Shinto, Buddhism and other local beliefs."

天園ハイキングコース
台風の影響で、天園 (テンエン) ハイキングコースは
通行止めでした。

Tenen Hiking Course
Due to the typhoon, the Tenen Hiking Course was closed.

こちらはオープン！/ This was Open!

実は二階堂に住んでいた頃、ご近所さんカフェでした。

Tオーナー・カップルは、私の個展(東京・鎌倉)にもいらしてくださって、作品もお買い上げいただきました。

ありがとうございました。

Actually, when we lived in Nikaido, Kamakura it was a neighborhood cafe.

The T owner couple also visited my exhibitions in Tokyo 

and Kamakura and purchased some works.

Thank you very much.

山の中の庭 / Garden in Mountain

二階堂に住み始めた頃、英国から帰りたてで、庭に何もありませんでした。

それをTさんに話したら、この庭からチェリーミントを分けてくださいました。

そのチェリーミントは、引越し後の鎌倉山の庭で、元気に咲いています。

チェリーミントを見るたびに、彼女の親切を感じます。

ありがとうございました。

When we first started living in Nikaido, I had just returned from Britain and there was nothing in our garden.

When I told T san about it, she gave me the cherry mint from their garden.

Nowadays the same cherry mint is in full bloom in our garden, Kamakurayama, after we moved.

Every time I see cherry mint, I feel her kindness.

Thank you very much.

ブルーセージ
私は、ブルーセージと覚えたのですが、後になって、
"サルビア・ファリナサア"または"ブルー・サルビア"
であるとわかりました。
実はこれもTさんからいただきました。
二階堂の庭では一番元気に咲いていたのに、
鎌倉山では咲いてくれませんでした。

Blue Sage
I remembered it as blue sage, but later I found it to be
"Salvia Farinacea" or "Blue Salvia".
Actually, this was also given by T san.
It bloomed most vigorously in the Nikaido garden,
but it didn't bloom in Kamakurayama.

木々で景色が見えません...
I can't see the scenery because of the trees ...

わ〜〜イ！食事！しかも和食！嬉しい〜！
ランチ時間を外れていたのに、ありがとうございます！
Rにも彼の嗜好に合わせて作ってくださいました。
感謝！感謝！感謝！
私もRもご飯のおかわりをしてしまいました。

手作り和菓子 / Homemade Japanese Sweets

コーヒーと栗羊羹
Coffee and Chestnut Yokan
Yokan is an azuki jelly made of red bean paste, agar and sugar.

カフェ・オレと栗の茶巾絞り
Cafe au lait and Chestnut Chakin Shibori ;
chestnut [bean] paste shaped with a cloth.

満足、満足。

英国から帰ってきて住んだ場所が、二階堂でした。

二階堂を出てしまった今も、複数の二階堂の人たちとお付き合いを続けています。

久しぶりにこのカフェに行けて、Tカップルにもお会いできて嬉しかったです。

また行きたい...いつになるでしょう？？？

Satisfaction, satisfaction.

When I came back from Britain the place I lived was Nikaido, Kamakura.

Even now that we have left Nikaido, we continue to associate with several Nikaido people.

I was happy to be able to go to the  Cafe for the first time in a long time and to meet the T couple.

I (we) want to go again ... when will it be? ?? ??

❸ 2019年10月6日 カフェ・ラスト・ワルツ - 鎌倉 / Cafe Last Waltz in Kamakura, 5th of October, 2019

カフェ・ラスト・ワルツ
 旧華頂宮邸の後、初めてのカフェ、"ラスト・ワルツ"
に行きました。
カフェらしくなく、一般の家の趣です。
いや、どうみても一般住宅です。

Cafe Last Waltz
After "Kyu-Kachōnomiya-tei": Former Residence of Marquis Kachōnomiya, 
 I and my husband R went to the first cafe, "Last Waltz".
It's not like a cafe, it's like a normal house.
No. Rather, it is indeed a general house.

'OPEN'と書いてあっても、入るのが憚られます。
でも入りました！

Even though they say 'OPEN', we were hesitating.
However, we entered!

ドアを開けると、女性が笑顔で迎えてくださったので、ホッとしました。

この女性がオーナー兼スタッフです。

カフェは自宅と兼用になっています。

When we opened the door, a lady welcomed us with her smile, so I was relieved.

This lady is the owner and staff.

The cafe is also used as her home.

屋内 / Inside

灰皿が置いてあったので、
タバコを吸わない私達はちょっとビビる...
ですが、他に誰もいませんでしたし、
タバコの臭いもしませんでした。
タバコの臭いが充満している場合は、きっと店を出たと思います。

There were ashtrays, we don't smoke and we're a little scared ...
But there was no one else and it didn't smell of cigarettes.
If the smell of cigarettes had been strong,
we probably go out of the cafe.

天井 
吹き抜けなので、2階の天井が見えます。
カフェ部分の1階には窓がないので、
こういった工夫が必要です。

 Celling
Because it is double height, you can see the ceiling on the first floor.
There is no window on the ground  floor of the cafe,
so this kind of device is necessary.

猫の人形に囲まれて
壁面のほとんどが棚になっており、
その中に猫の人形が飾ってあります。
スタッフのご主人の作品です。
ここは、彼女とご主人の趣味のカフェなのだと
理解しました。
鎌倉には、そんな感じのカフェが多いです。

Surrounded by Cat Figures
Most of the walls are shelves, and cat figures are displayed in them.
They are the works by her husband.
I understood that this cafe is for her
and her husband's hobbies.
There are many cafes like that in Kamakura.

なんとなく、昭和を感じる猫達でした。

Somehow, I felt these were Showa cats.

とても不思議な空間が作られていました。

どこにもない、ここだけの世界、空間。

私は、それが好きなのか、苦手なのか、よくわかりませんでした。

キツネに騙されて、違う世界へ連れてこられたような気持ちになって、ちょっと危うい気持ちになりました。

けれどもスタッフの女性の物腰は柔らかく、親切で、その不安さは和らぎました。

Rは音楽の趣味が女性とあったらしく楽しそうに話していました。

コーヒーポットやカップ＆ソーサーは素敵なデザインで、1つ１つの物を大切に選んでいることが感じられました。

実は私達はカフェ・ランチ的な食事がしたかったのですが、ここは飲み物と和菓子のみのサービスでした。

お腹が空いていましたが、面白い空間だったので、コーヒーと和菓子をいただきました。

和菓子は女性の手作り。

甘いものが苦手な私が食べて美味しく感じました。

Rは2個も注文しました。

Cat Making Easter Eggs

A very mysterious space was created.

A world and space that is only here is not found anywhere else.

I wasn't sure if I liked it or not.

I felt a little unsure because I felt like I was taken to a different world by being deceived by a fox.

According to Wiki about Japanese Fox,

"The fox appears in the folklore of many cultures, but especially European and East Asian, as a figure of cunning, trickery, or a familiar animal possessed of magic powers."

However, the lady was soft and kind, and my anxiety was alleviated.

R talked happily with her, their music seemed to overlap.

The coffee pots and cups and saucers have a lovely design, and I felt that each item was carefully selected.

Actually, we wanted to have a meal like a cafe-lunch, but here was a service of only drinks and Japanese sweets.

We were hungry, but it was an interesting space, so we had coffee and Japanese sweets.

Japanese sweets are handmade by her.

I'm not good at sweets, though I ate it and felt it was good.

R ordered second; Anpan!

初めてみるポットでした。
This was the first time I saw this pot.

右下はアンパンです。

The lower right is Anpan.
Anpan is a Japanese sweet roll most commonly filled
with red bean paste.

お土産をいただいてしまいました。
常連客の方のポストカードと手作りの乾燥梅干しです。
ありがとうございました。

ここのカフェは、ユニークだと感じます。

たまにその雰囲気を味わう、もしくは、この近くの報国寺や浄明寺などの観光地を訪れた時に寄ってみるには良いと思います。

さてさて、私達は自分たちのお腹をみたすカフェを探さなくてはありませんが、もうランチタイムは過ぎてしまっていました。

結局、以前よく行った二階堂の三日月カフェに電話をして、OKをもらい、訪ねることになりました。

I feel that the cafe here is unique.

I think it's a good idea to enjoy the atmosphere once in a while, or stop by when you come to sightseeing spots such as Hōkoku-ji Temple (Bamboo Temple) and Jōmyō-ji Temple nearby.

Well, we had to find a cafe that fills our stomachs, but lunch time had already passed.

In the end, I called the Crescent Cafe in Nikaido, Kamakura which we used to go to often, and got their OK, and decided to visit.
