中世の街ゲントのイメージに新しさを加えた印象です。

My impression is that added newness to the image of medieval city Ghent.
家族連れもパソコンを使用している一人の人もいて、
地元の人に愛されているカフェであると感じました。 There were family companions and a person with a computer
so I felt the cafe is loved by locals.

何かが特別秀でている印象はありませんが、すべてのことに少しづつ配慮され、
リラックスできる雰囲気もあり、トータルして、良いカフェになっていると感じました。

There was no impression that something is specially excellent, but everything was done carefully, little by little, there was atmosphere to relax, and I felt in total it was a good cafe.

2) マスタード / Mustard
"Vierenteyn-Verlent" は、"グルーテンマルクト" / Groentenmarkt 通りに面しています。
見つけやすい場所にありますが、私達は、お店の前を一度通り過ぎてしまい、その周辺を探しさまよいました。
人気店で、店内は混み合っていました。
けれどもお客の目あては、"マスタード"と決まっているので、店内滞在時間は短く、回転率は良いように見えました。

"Vierenteyn-Verlent"
is on 'Groentenmarkt' street.
The
location is easy to find, although we passed the shop once, so
wandered around the area.
It
is a popular shop and the inside was crowded.
However,
since the visitor 's purpose is "mustard", the staying time
in the shop was short and the rotation rate seemed to be good.

アントワープのアパートメントに帰宅後、味見をしました。(R はマスタードが嫌いです）
ストレートな？ピュアな辛さでした。
常温で6ヶ月持つと言われましたが、英国に住む友人にも日本の友人にも
「冷蔵庫保存でなるべく早く食べてね」
と言って渡しました。
After
returning to the apartment in Antwerp, I did taste. (R hates

They
said that the mustard can be preserved at ambient temperature for 6
months, however, I told friends in Britain and Japan,
"Please
eat as soon as possible and keep in refrigerator"

このお菓子は、三角錐 (サンカクスイ)形 のフルーツシロップ入りのキャンディです。

オランダ語では、人間の鼻に似ているため、ネウス（鼻）、ゲントネウス / Gentse neus（ゲントの鼻）、またはネズケ（小さな鼻）としても知られています。
フランス語では、キュベルドンは、"シャペー・ド・カレー/ chapeau-de-curé" と "シャペー・ド・プレット / chapeau-de-prêtre とも呼ばれ、意味は '司祭の帽子' です。

このお菓子が生まれた話は、下記の二つがあります(★ / ★)。
一つは、ブリュージュに住む司祭によって作られたという話で、'司祭の帽子' と呼ばれる理由に繋がります。
もう一つは、ゲントの薬剤師が偶然に発見した技法によって、キャンディーが作られたという話です。
元は、ラズベリーシロップで紫色でしたが、最近ではいろいろな味と色が売られていますし、スーパーマーケットや屋台でも売られているそうです。
ゲントで一番早く、キュルドンを売り、当時と同じレシピで作られていると言われているお店、"テンマーマン / Temmerman" にRと一緒に私は行きました。
このお店もなかなか見つけられず、"フランドル伯の城" の前にある、インフォメーション・センターで聞いて、ようやく見つけました。

A cupberdon is a popular local delicacy in Ghent or Bruges.
This sweets are trigonal shaped candies with conical fruit syrup.
In
Dutch it is also known as a "neus / nose", "Gentse neus / Ghent
nose", or "neuzeke / little nose" for its likeness to a human nose.
In
French,
cuberdons are also called "chapeau-de-curé" and "chapeau-de-prêtre" which means 'priest's hat'.
One is a story that it was made by a priest living in Bruges, leading to a reason called 'priest hat'.
Another one is that the candy was made by the technique that Ghent pharmacist discovered by chance.
Originally
purple with raseberry syrup, recently various tastes and colours are
sold.
I went to a shop, "Temmerman" with R, which is said to have sold the first cuberdons in Ghent and to be made with the same recipe as at that time.

私は少量を買いたかったのですが、写真の袋の状態でしか売っていませんでした。
多少買うことに躊躇しましたが、ここまで来たのに買わないのは非常に残念と思い、
購入。
あとで、友人達には小分けしてあげました。
上の記載で、私は元はラズベリーを使用したと書きましたが、一説によると、このお店は元来はエルダーベリーを使用したとあります。
エルダベリーの方がお薬っぽい印象ですね(★) 。
このお店のキュベルトンは三角錐でなく、リアルな人の顔で怖い！
Cuberdon in this shop is not a triangular pyramid, it is scary with the face of a real person! 
味は思ったよりも自然な味で甘くありませんでした。
けれでも、今の日本人の味覚ではかなり甘く感じられるように思います。
The
taste was a natural taste and not as sweet as I had thought.
However,
I think that it is pretty sweet by the tastes of Japanese today.

wanted to buy a small amount, but they only sold it in the size of bag, as in my photographs.
I
hesitated to buy, however, I became very sorry if I didn't buy it even I came here, so I purchased.
Later,
I divided them for my friends.
In
the above description, I wrote that they originally used
raspberries, although according to one theory this shop
originally used Elderberry (★).
Elderberry gives more of a medicine impression.

We
drank the beer we bought at the Railway Station.
On
this day, we did not go any pub cafe, but had a toast in the train.

One day trip for Ghent was fun.
However, we could not take a lot of time at cafes or a restaurant, so we could not take a rest time, so I got tired a bit ~!
