夫Rがフルーツサラダを作ります。

いつもありがとう！

今日は、いちごにハート型のビスケットが添えられていました。

結婚記念日が近いので、そんなデザインになったのかしら？と思います。

それとも、いちごだけでちょっと寂しかったので、'おまけ'　としてのビスケットだったのでしょうか？

ちなみにこのビスケットは、友人Kさんからのプレゼントでした。

ありがとうございました。

Fruit Salad

My husband R makes a fruit salad.

Thank you as always!

Today, he served strawberries with heart-shaped biscuits.

I wonder if he chose that design because our wedding anniversary is coming up?

Or maybe the strawberries alone were a little lonely, so the biscuits were added as a 'bonus'?

By the way, these biscuits were a gift from our friend K.

食器のテーストがばらばらで笑ってしまいますが私としては、
それぞれの食器に思い出があります。
紅茶もRが淹れてくれます。
ありがとう！

The tastes of the dishes are all so different it's amusing,

 but for me, each one has its own memories.

This is yuzu ice cream that I made.
R doesn't like ice cream, but this is his favourite.

明日から、私達は、'結婚10周年記念・アートの旅' に出かけます。

ありがとうございました。

エルベランのお菓子は、久しぶり！

美味しいです。

今回、気がついたのは、ラッピングの美しさと上質な紙を使用していることでした。

エルベランのカタログの表紙は、夙川の桜の季節の絵で、私にとっては懐かしいさがあります。

贈り物
包装紙もリボンも綺麗です。
女の子の後ろ側は、ミニ便箋です。

Sweets of 'ELBERUN'

I received some 'Elveran' sweets from a friend in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture.

Thank you very much.

It's been a while since I've had ELBERUN sweets!

They're delicious.

What I noticed this time was the beauty of the wrapping and the use of high-quality paper.

The cover of the ELBERUN leaflet features a picture of cherry blossom season in Shukugawa, which brings back memories for me.

商品を大切に扱っていることが感じ取れます。
小粒なビスケット、美味しくて食べ出したら止まりません。

The sweets are packed in a plastic case to

 prevent them from breaking.

I can tell they take good care of their products.

These small biscuits are so delicious that I can't stop eating them.

2) 満月 / Full Moon

コロナ禍の際は、よく空も夜空も見上げていました。

月の写真もよく撮影しましたし、そのために、ニコンのカメラも使用していました。

I-phoneのカメラを使用するようになってから、ニコンのカメラの使用頻度が、がっくりと落ちました。

ニコンのカメラのバッテリーが長く持たず、使いにくかったというのも理由の1つでした。

ですが、先日、ニコンのカメラを修理したので、この晩は、満月を見て、ニコンのカメラを使用しました。

Full Moon

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I often looked up at the sky and the night sky.

I also took a lot of photographs of the moon, and used my Nikon camera to do so.

Since I started using my iPhone camera, I've found that I use my Nikon camera much less often.

But this night, I saw the full moon and used my Nikon camera for the first time in a long time.

One of the reasons was that the battery of my Nikon camera didn't last long and it was difficult to use.

However, I had my Nikon camera repaired a few days ago, so this evening I used my Nikon camera to view the full moon.

最近ニコンのカメラを使用しなくなったのは、私がI-phoneのカメラをつかいはじめたからでした。

ですが、それだけでなく、ニコンのカメラのチャージをしても、すぐに撮影できなくなってしまていたからでした。

重いカメラを持っていでても、あまり役にたたないので、ますます、i-phoneの使用頻度が増えていったのです。

'新しく買い直したばかりなのにすぐに問題が起きて' と不満を抱えつつ、長らく放置していました。

年をこして、気持ちがあらたになり、このままではいけないとニコンを修理することにしました。

以前修理していただいた、お店: "銀座ニコンサロン" が閉店になっていたことを知りました。

ニコンの修理は、"新宿ニコンサロン" へ行ってもてもらうことにしました。

ここは、予約制でしたので、ネットで予約をしました。

夫Rと一緒に行きました。

そこは、新宿駅近くの高層ビル地上28階にあり、とても眺めが良かったです。

私の持っているカメラは、ニコンではあるものの、ニコンのなかでは、赤ちゃんの存在で、ニコンが好きな方、ニコンにこだわっている方からは、蔑みの目？がむけられそうなものです。

どれでも、ズームがi-phoneよりはとてもよく撮影後の違いは明らかなので、私は 'ニコンの赤ちゃん' (NIKON COOLPIX B600) を使用しています。

蛇足ながら...いくらズームが素晴らしいといっても、私のカメラは、'赤ちゃん' ですし、レンズにズーム機能素材を加えてもいませんので、パパラッチのような撮影はできません。

The reason I stopped using my Nikon camera recently was because 

I started using the camera on my iPhone.

But it was also because even if I charged my Nikon camera, I couldn't take pictures right away.

Carrying around a heavy camera wasn't very useful, so I started using my iPhone more and more.

I was dissatisfied with the fact that I had only just bought a new Nikon, but problems were occurring immediately, so I left it alone for a long time.

As the year passed, I had a new feeling and decided that I couldn't continue like this and had my Nikon repaired.

I found out that the shop where I had my earlier Nikon repaired before, "Ginza Nikon Salon," had closed.

I decided to go to "Shinjuku Nikon Salon" to have my Nikon repaired.

This place required reservations, so I made a reservation online.

I went with my husband R.

It was on the 28th floor of a high-rise building near Shinjuku Station, and had a great view.

The camera I have is a Nikon, but among Nikons, it's a baby, so I'm sure it will be looked down upon by Nikon lovers and those who are particular about Nikon.

In any case, the zoom is much better than an iPhone and the difference after photographing is obvious, so I use my 'Baby Nikon' (NIKON COOLPIX B600) .

As an aside... no matter how great the zoom is, my camera is a 'Baby' and I don't have any zoom function added to the lens, so I can't take paparazzi-grade photographs.

修理前のニコンでも、何枚かは撮影はできました。

問題は、バッテリーが短期間で切れることでした。

28階からの景色はニコンのカメラで撮影しました。

I was able to take a few photographs with the Nikon before it was repaired.

The problem was that the battery would die after a short time.

The views from the 28th floor were taken with the Nikon camera.

受付をし、カメラを預けてその場で修理を待ちました。
チャージする接続部分を取り替えました。
私のカメラの問題は解決し、新しいケーブルも買いました。

waited for the repair to be done.

They replaced the charging connection part.

My camera problem was solved and I also bought a new cable.

2) 新宿の空 / Shinjyuku Sky 

ビルの外に出て、空を見上げて撮影しました。

新宿で、空を見るために、空を見上げる行為を初めてしました。

まだニコンのカメラはチャージをしていず、使用できなかったので、ちょっと皮肉なことに、i-phoneで撮影しました。

飛行機
最近、東京で、飛行機がずいぶん低く飛ぶ姿を見かけます。
東京上空の規制がかわったからでしょうか？
羽田空港が国際線も乗り入れるようになったからでしょうか？

Aeroplane

Recently, I've been seeing aeroplanes flying very low in Tokyo.

Could it be because regulations over Tokyo have changed?

Is it because Haneda Airport is now accepting international flights?

Shinjyuku Sky 

We went outside the building, looked up at the sky, and I took photographs.

It was the first time I had ever looked up to see the sky in Shinjuku.

My Nikon camera hadn't been charged yet so I couldn't use it, so, somewhat ironically, I took the photographs with my iPhone.

横浜市大倉山のA歯科院に鎌倉から行っています。

私が英国留学前から信頼しているA先生を夫Rも信頼しています。

長い間、私は歯に大きな問題はなく、クリーニングに年に2~3回行っています。

Rもクリーニングに行きますが、彼は歯の治療も受けています。

院内で撮影するほことは、ほとんどありません。

ですが、今日はスリッパが殺菌されて出てくる機械が珍しく思い、

撮影しました。

赤いボタンを押すと下から殺菌済みのスリッパが出て来ます。
返すときは、上に載せると自動的に中へ落ちます。

When you press the red button,
sterilized slippers will come out from below.
When you return them, just place them on top and
they will automatically fall inside.

ここからスリッパが出て来ます。

From this place, new slippers will appear.

I go to Dental Clinic A in Okurayama, Yokohama from Kamakura.

My husband R also trusts Dentist A, who I have trusted since before 

I studied abroad in the UK.

For a long time, I have not had any major problems with my teeth and have gone for cleanings two to three times a year.

R also goes for cleanings, but he also receives dental treatment.

I rarely take photographs inside the clinic.

However, today I thought it was unusual to see a machine that sterilized slippers before coming out, so I took pictures of it.

新年会 / New Year Party

我が家(私と夫 R)は、毎年12月にはクリスマス・パーティを開いています。

年によっては、複数回開きます。

パーティといっても、おしゃべりしながら飲食するだけで、特別な余興はありません。

料理もクリスマスだからといって、豪華なものでなく、家庭料理です。

特別なのは、ローストチキンをつくることくらいです。

昨年のクリスマス・パーティに招きたかった2つのカップルがそれぞれの理由で、彼らの都合がつきませんでした。

本日は、その2カップルを招いて、新年会を開きました。

彼らは初めて会いました。

新年会なので、今日はローストチキンは作りませんでした。

本日の献立
'献立' をプリントして、料理を作ります。
ゲストを思い浮かべながら、献立を考え、
必要な食材をそれぞれの料理に振り分けます。
できた料理を出し忘れてしまうことも過去に何回かあったので、
それを防ぐためにもプリントは有益です。
私はついつい料理を作りすぎてしまうので、
プリントを見つつ修正もします。
若い時は、こんなことしなくても、できていたことなのに、
今は 'プリント'　なしでは、自分の頭を整理できません。
プリントしても、実際の料理を変更することは多々あります。

Today's Menu

I print out the menu and prepare the food.

I plan the menu while thinking about my guests, 

allocating the necessary ingredients to each dish.

There have been a few times in the past when I forgot to serve

 the finished dishes, so the printout is useful in preventing this.

I tend to make too much food, 

so I look at the printout and make corrections as I go.

When I was younger, I could do it without doing this, 

but now I can't organize my thoughts without the printout.

Even if I print it out, I often end up making 

changes to the actual dish.

New Year Party

Depending on the year, we hold a couple of times.

Although it's called a party, we just eat and drink while chatting, and there are no special entertainments.

The food isn't anything fancy just because it's Christmas, it's just home-cooked cooking.

The only special thing is that I make roast chicken.

Two couples that we wanted to invite to our Christmas party last year were unable to make it for various reasons.

Today we invited those two couples and held a New Year's party.

It was first time they had met each other.

Because it's a New Year's party, I didn't make roast chicken today.

I forgot to take photos on the day, so they ate most of the food before I could take any.

多くの場合、パーティの様子や料理を自分では撮影しません。

ゲストの方が撮影したり、Rが撮影したりした場合は、

写真があります。

私のブログでは、基本、顔出し写真は控えています。

In most cases, I don't take photographs of 

the party or the food myself.

There are photographs if the guests took photographs

 or if R took them.

As a general rule, I refrain from including photographs

 that show faces on my blog.

4人のゲストは、お忙しい中、時間を作って我が家へいらしていただきました。

ありがとうございました。

おかげで、私達は楽しい時をすごすことができました。

ゲストの方も、楽しそうに見えました...よかった！ほっ！

また、お目にかかれる日を楽しみにしています。

私と夫Rは、代官山の美容院、'ラピス / Lapis' へ向かいました。

私達は、'ラピス' へ行くのに、鎌倉駅から恵比寿へJRを使用します。

恵比寿アトレビル内にある、パン屋・ "ル・グルニエ・ア・パン" は、パン好きのRのお気に入りです。

恵比寿に来たときには、ほとんどの場合、このパン屋さんへ寄ります。

今日は、Lapisへ行く前に寄り、カスクート・サンドイッチを買いました。

Rさんのランチ用とラピスのWさんとスタッフへの差し入れとしていくつか購入しました。

今まで気にしたこともなかったのですが、今回は、カスクートの語源が気になりました。

というのも、Rがサンドイッチという時(英語)は、カスクートをさすことが多いのです。

私は、サンドイッチといえば、食パンのサンドイッチを思うので、いつも、サンドイッチの姿が、頭の中で、一度食パンからバゲットへ変換されます。

後になって、カスクートの語源は、フランス語で、'(硬い)パンの皮（croûte）を割る（casser）'

という意味があるそうです。

それを知った後で、Wikiで検索をし、下記のこともわかり、おもしろいな〜と思いました。

"元は歯のない老人用のパンの皮を挽く道具を指す語として使用されていたが、19世紀末以来、ヨーロッパのフランス語では、労働者が休憩中にとる簡単な食事を指す語である。

そこから軽食やサンドイッチを指す語となっている。

ケベックフランス語では、 casse-crouteという語は軽食を提供するレストランを指す。

そこから英語のsnack-bar(カウンターで直接提供する形式で簡単な料理を迅速に提供し、客が食べたり持ち帰ったり出来る) の同義語としてもこの語は用いられている"

カスクート・サンドイッチ
'Cascoute Sandwiches' or 'Baguette Sandwiches'

"Le Grenier à Pain"

My husband R and I went to Lapis, a beauty salon in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

We took the JR train from Kamakura Station to Ebisu to get to Lapis.

The bakery "Le Grenier à Pain" in the Ebisu Atre Building is R's favourite, as he loves bread.

When we come to Ebisu, we almost always stop by this bakery.

Today, before going to Lapis, we stopped by and bought some baguette sandwiches.

We bought some for R's lunch and some as gifts for W San and the staff at Lapis.

I had never paid attention to it before, but this time I was curious about the origin of the word 'cascoute'.

When R says sandwich (in English), he usually means baguette sandwiches.

When I think of sandwiches, I think of sandwiches made with sliced bread, so in my mind, the image of a sandwich always changes from bread to baguette.

Later, I found out that the origin of the word 'cascoute' is French 'casse- croûte' and means' to break (casser) the (hard) crust of bread (croûte).'

After knowing that, I searched Japanese Wiki and found the following, which I thought was interesting (translated by me) :

"Originally, it was used to refer to a tool used to grind crusts for old people who had no teeth, but since the end of the 19th century, in European French, it has been used to refer to a simple meal that workers had during their break.

From there, it has come to refer to snacks and sandwiches.

In Quebec French, the word casse-croute refers to a restaurant that serves snacks.

From there, the word is also used as a synonym for the English word snack-bar (a place where simple dishes are served quickly at the counter so that customers can eat or take away)."

'ラピス' で写真を撮ることはあまりありません。

ほかのお客さんがいらっしゃる場合もあるし、撮影する対象があまりない場合もあります。

ラピスでは、お茶やコーヒーを待ち時間にサービスしてくれて、いつもカップがかわいいです。

今日はカップを撮影する機会に恵まれました。

Cute Cups

I don't often take photographs in Lapis.

Sometimes there are other customers there, and sometimes there isn't much to photograph.

At Lapis, they serve tea and coffee while you are waiting, and the cups are always cute.

Today I had the opportunity to photograph the cups.
