1) 初日 / First Day
私と夫Rは、軽井沢の友人RIさんを訪ねて、軽井沢に行きました。
落ち着いた古い感じが優しく漂う、良いホテルに思えました。
もしかしたら近代的なホテルを望まれる方には、このホテルの雰囲気が合わないかもしれません。
老舗ホテルですが、そんなには格式ばらず、私達はリラックスできました。
ジョン・レノン (1940 - 1980) が好んで泊まったホテルでしたので、英国人のRは、それも含めて喜んでいました。
軽井沢初日、IRさんの車でいくつか案内してもらい、万平ホテルへも送っていただきました。

チェックインし、案内された部屋に機械音がしていたので、部屋を移してもらいました。(価格が安かったのでそのせいかもしれません？）
ランドリーの音が響いてきたようでした。
そういう点は建物の古さの欠点かもしれません。
Rの耳が非常に敏感なので、私達は部屋を移りましたが健常の耳の状態でしたら、あまり気にならないように思います。
チェックイン後、しばらくして、ホテルからタクシーで、RIさんのマンションを訪問しました。
近代的でお洒落な落ち着いた建物です。
部屋は、吹き抜けのリヴィングがあり開放的です。
まったりできて、彼女が軽井沢と東京を行き来する気持ちがわかるわ〜と思いました。
夕食は、そのマンションから徒歩で5分もかからないお寿司屋さんへ行きました。
マンション近くには他にもいくつかレストランがありました。
お寿司屋さんは、大きなお店で、きっとシーズンにはたくさんのお客さんがいらっしゃるのであろうと思いました。
和食のお店では、Rの食の問題は比較的簡単に解決できます。
美味しく3人で食事をし、その店でRIさんとは別れ、万平ホテル へ戻りました。

First Day
I and my husband R visited RI friend in Karuizawa.
One of my childhood friends held a wedding reception at
the Mampei Hotel : ★, and I had a good impression of staying at that time, so I wanted to let R experience it as well.
Coincidentally, the hotel that RI's friend introduced to us was the Mampei Hotel.
It seemed a good hotel that has an atmosphere which gently mixes a calm and old feeling.
If you want to stay a modern hotel, the atmosphere of this hotel may not suit you.
Though it is a long-established hotel, it was not so formal and we were able to relax.
The British R was pleased with that as well as knowing that it was the hotel John Lennon (1940 - 1980) liked and stayed in.
On the first day of Karuizawa, we were guided by RI's car and she gave us a lift to the Mampei Hotel.

We checked in and there was a mechanical noise in our room, so we asked and moved to a different room.
(Maybe that's because the price was cheap?)
The sound of the laundry seemed to echo.
Such a point may be a drawback due to the age of the building.
R's ears are very sensitive that we moved from room to room, but if you have healthy ears, you probably don't care too much.
Shortly after check-in, we took a taxi from the hotel to visit RI's flat.
It is a modern, stylish and calm building.
The room is open with a living-room atrium.
I thought I could relax and understand her feelings of going back and forth between Karuizawa and Tokyo.
For dinner, we went to a sushi restaurant that was less than 5 minutes walk from the flat.
There are several other restaurants near the flat.
The sushi restaurant is a big place, and I thought that there would be a lot of customers during the season.
At Japanese restaurants, R's food problems are relatively easy to solve.
We had a delicious meal with three people, say good-bye to RI at the restaurant, and returned to the Mampei Hotel by taxi.

| 建物も庭も品が良いです。 ホテルというよりもお屋敷の感じがします。 Both the building and the garden are classy. It feels more like a manor house than a hotel.  |

| 中庭 レストランのライトのリフレクションが写っています。 Courtyard My photographs have the reflection of the restaurant lights.   朝食に洋食を選択するとここで食べます。 中庭を見ながら食事ができるので、 ほとんどの宿泊客は洋食を選ぶようです。 Rは2日間、ここで朝食を食べ、私は2日間和食を食べたので 別々の場所で朝食をとったのです。 If you choose Western food for breakfast, you will eat it here. Most guests seem to choose Western food because they can eat while looking at the courtyard. R had breakfast here for two days and I had Japanese food for two days so we had breakfast in different places.  ここも同じレストランです。 アンティークな豪華さがあります。 Here is the same restaurant. There is antique luxury. |
前回のブログにも書いたように写真保管中に多くの写真を紛失し、最初の朝食も撮影しましたがここに載せられません。
連泊で和食を選択した場合は、お魚の種類を変えてくれます。
私の場合は、Rとの生活で通常の食事が洋食傾向にあるため、純和食の機会が極端に少ないのです。
なので、純和食の朝食は私にとってはとても貴重です。

The first Japanese breakfast was very delicious, so I chose Japanese breakfast on the second day as well.
As I wrote in my previous blog, I lost a lot of photographs while storing them and photographed the first breakfast, but I can't show it here.
If you choose Japanese breakfast for consecutive nights, the type of fish will change.
In my case, I tend to eat Western food in my daily life with R, so there are extremely few opportunities for pure Japanese meal.
So a pure Japanese breakfast is very valuable to me.
Taste of Japanese breakfast here was to my favourite taste trend.

| 秘密めいた場所に(？）バーがあります。 私が部屋で寝た後にRは一人でバーに行き、 ポスターにあるカクテルを飲みました。 美味しかった？... Yes. Bar There is a Bar in a secret place (?). After I slept in the room, R went to the bar alone and drank the cocktail on the poster. Was it delicious?...Yes... he said. |
3) ミニ博物館 / Mini Museum
歴史があるホテルなので、ミニ博物館があります。
私には、とても面白かったです。
1764年に万平ホテルの前身の旅籠「亀屋」が開業しました。
1894年、'亀谷ホテル'と改名し、この年を現在のホテルの創業年としています。
1896年、'萬平ホテル'に改名。
1902年、現在のホテルの場所に洋風建築 (客室は22室)の建物を建てました。
As it is a historic hotel, it has a mini museum.
It was very interesting for me.
In 1764, the predecessor of the Mampei Hotel, "Kameya" opened.
In 1894, the name was changed to 'Kameya Hotel', and this year is the founding year of the current hotel.
In 1896, renamed to 'Mampei Hotel'.
In 1902, he built a Western-style building (22 guest rooms) at the current location of the hotel.
