鎌倉の樹カフェ / Itsuki Cafe in Kamakura |
前日、友人Mが自宅に泊まりました。
2004年に、英国で語学学校の試験をMの隣で受けました。
できの悪い私と違って優秀な彼女は、上位のクラスでした。
彼女は、当時、現役の女子大生で、語学学校の滞在期間は一ヶ月にも満たなかったように記憶しています。
にもかかわらず、今まで、友人として付き合いが続いています。
彼女は大学卒業後、企業に勤め、数年後、その企業はやめ、英国留学をしました。
現在は、大阪で留学をサポートする会社に勤めています。
「鎌倉で行きたいところは？」
と彼女に尋ねると、
「樹カフェ」
という返事でした。

それがこの日まで実現できなかった理由は、カフェの立地にありました。

I asked her 'where would you go in Kamakura?', she said Itsuki Cafe!
The Cafe was one that I had wanted to go to for over ten years.

"鎌倉カフェテラス樹ガーデンの敷地は、元々会社オーナーの別荘として取得されたものです。
北鎌倉から高徳院（大仏様）に続く裏大仏ハイキングコースに隣接している事から、ハイキングの途中で
けがをされたり道に迷われる方、またお手洗いを必要とされる方々が度々訪れられました。
このため、救護等も兼ねたお休み処が必要ではないかと考え小さなテラス席から始めました。

英語文では、オーナー自らレンガを積み上げて20年以上かけて7つのテラスを作ったとあります。すごい〜！
イツキの漢字、'樹'は、偶然にも、私が中学生のときから、もっとも好きな漢字のひとつです。

| 樹カフェへ 階段前には駐車場はありますが、カフェまでは登ってゆかなくてはなりません。 この階段が結構続くので、階段の途中2カ所にベンチが用意されています。 To the Itsuki Cafe There is a Cafe carpark, although we must climb from here. The steps climb quite a long way, so there are benches at two places on our way. |
My friend, M stayed in my house the day before.
In 2004, I had a test for English in a school in Britain, M was next to me.
An excellent student, M was in a high level class which was different from me who was in a lower class.
At that time, she was in a Japanese University, I remember she just stayed less than one month.
Nevertheless we have been friends since then.
She graduated from the University, worked for a company in Japan and a few years later, she stopped her job to study abroad in Britain.

Why, did I not visit the Cafe, because of the location.
The Cafe is located high on a hiking trail.
According to 'concept of the cafe site' : ★
"Itsuki
Garden was initially acquired by Hinoki’s late founder in order to
build a private residence.
As the property’s land neighbors a
famous hiking trail to Kamakura’s Great Buddha statute, many hikers
would innocently wander onto the land.
Whenever this happened, and
which became quite frequent, the founder would always welcome the
lost hikers with a cup of green tea or use of a bathroom.
He
decided, then, to build a small and permanent brick terrace to offer
future lost hikers a resting place.
This decision led to an
unexpected amount of work, as the founder eventually built, himself,
seven brick terraces brick-by-brick over a 20 year period!"

'Itsuki' in Japanese Kanji is '樹', this has been one of my most favourite Kanji since I was in Junior high school.

| 新緑の頃は、もっと美しいでしょう。 私は樹や枝が好き！この時期でも十分景色を楽しみました。 左の階段はハイキングコースに接続しています。 I guess when it is the season of fresh green, it is even more beautiful. I do like tree or branches, so I enjoy this season. The steps on the left connect with the hiking trail. |

Old Bull and Bush' も勧めてくれました。
M said
that here reminded her of

also she recommended me a pub :'The

is close to the garden.

| リス リスは我が家からよく見かけます。 慣れてしまったせいか、撮影しようという気になりません。 ときどき撮影したいと思っても、カメラの準備が リスの動きに間に合いません。 ですが、ここでは、カメラも手元にすでにありましたし、 Mがとてもリスに感動するので、 それに刺激されて撮影しました。 Squirrel I often see a squirrel from my house. I might be used to seeing it, so I do not have motivation for taking a photograph. Even though sometimes I would photograph one I cannot prepare my camera for its fast movement. However, here, I already had the camera in my hand, and M was very impressed, I was stimulated by her emotion, so I photographed.  栄養がゆきわたっているリスに見えます。 It seems to be healthy.  後ろ姿がなかなかかわいい。 The back is quite cute. |

友人の水野結実さんから、キンポウゲ科の
と教えていただきました。
原産は英国だそうです。
別名: オウシュウキンポウゲ（欧州金鳳花）
水野さん、ありがとうございました。
水野さんは現在、鎌倉のオナリ・カフェで個展を３月いっぱい開催中です。
彼女は最近まで東京でグループ展を開催していました(下記)。
