A. 秘密のルート / Secret Route
夫Rのは、七里ヶ浜の診療所で定期検診をし、持病の薬も診療所近くの薬局で買います。
先日、彼が薬局へ行った時に、彼の薬を切らしていたので、本日、
薬を取りに行きました。
通常、彼の定期検診や薬の購入は彼一人でしています。
けれども、運動不足解消のために、本日は私も一緒に出かけました。
運動不足解消ではあるものの、最短距離で行ける、秘密ルートを選びました。
秘密のルートでは雑草が元気に成長しています。
幼い頃に馴染んでいた雑草をここで久しぶりに見ることが多々あります。

秘密のルート
最短距離のこのルートを使用しました。
一度Rがジャングル化した道を切り払ってくれましたが、
もうこんな状態になっていました。

Secret Route
My husband R has regular medical examinations at the Shichirigahama Clinic and buys medicines for his chronic disease at a pharmacy near the clinic.
The other day, when he went to the pharmacy, they had run out of his medicine, so today he went to collect his medicine.
Usually, he goes alone for his regular examinations and purchasing medicines.
However, I went out with him today to solve my lack of exercise.
Though it solves my lack of exercise, we chose a secret route that can be reached in the shortest distance.
Weeds are growing vigorously on the secret route.
I often see weeds here for the first time in a while, that I was familiar with when I was very young.
B. 驚きの名前 / Surprising Name

ヘクソカズラ
この花は子供の頃に河原でよく見かけましたが
名前は知りませんでした。
随分長い間見ていませんでした。
帰宅後名前を調べてみると、
ヘクソカズラ(屁糞葛)！でした。
え〜っ！可愛い花にひどい名前です。
Hekusokazura : Paederia Foetida : Skunkvine
I often saw this flower in the riverbank when I was a child, although I didn't know its name. I hadn't seen it for a long time. When I looked up its name after I got home, it is Hekusokazura : Paederia Foetida : Skunkvine! Wha~t!? It's a terrible name for a cute flower. Hekusokazura means Flatulence (wind), Feces (soil) and Vine in Japanese. |
ヘクソカズラの名前は、葉などをつぶすと、強い悪臭を放つことに由来します。
英語では、正式名は、'Paederia foetida' ですが、一般的には、スカンクヴァイン(Skankvine / スカンクの蔓)、スティンクヴァイ ン(Stinkvine：臭い蔓) と呼ばれるようので、やはり名前は悪臭に由来しています。
薔薇の花にトゲがあるように、この植物も自分を守るために悪臭を持つのかしらと想像しました。
Wikiに、"食害を受ける害虫などから身を守るためのもの、すなわちアレロパシー(他感作用)であると考えられている" と説明されていたので私の想像はほぼほぼあっていたのだと思います。
別名は、サオトメカズラ（早乙女蔓 / かわいらしい花を咲かせる様子から)があり、こちらの方が似つかわしく感じます。
(別名は他にもあります）
ですが、ヘクソカズラの名前は、『万葉集』(奈良時代 : 現存する最古の和歌集) に登場し、雑草といえども歴があります。
"「そうきょうに 延はひおほとれる屎葛くそかずら 絶ゆることなく 宮仕えせむ」 高宮王 (タカミヤノオオキミ / ? -?)『万葉集』（巻十六、3855）
そうきょう（皂莢、ジャケツイバラ）に絡みながら延びてゆくクソカズラ、その蔓のように絶えることなくいつまでも宮仕えしたいものだ…といった意味で、高宮王が奈良時代の公務員の宮仕えに関する決意表明を歌に表したものとされる。"
俳句や諺もあり、文化にもしっかり根付いているような印象を受けます。
<ヘクソカズラは夏の季語>
"名をへくそ かづらとぞいふ 花盛り"
高浜 虚子(タカハマキョシ / 1874 - 1959) 高浜 虚子は鎌倉市由比ヶ浜の自宅で亡くなり、墓所は鎌倉市扇ヶ谷の寿福寺 (ジュフクジ) にあります。
"屁糞葛も花盛り"
いやなにおいがあってあまり好かれない屁糞葛でも、愛らしい花をつける時期があるように、不器量な娘でも年頃になればそれなりに魅力があるということ。
類語に「鬼も十八 番茶も出花」がある。

この諺は今の時代に言おうものなら、なんちゃらハラスメントと非難されそうです。
Surprising Name
The Japanese name of Hekusokazura comes from the fact that when the leaves are crushed, they give off a strong stench.
In English, the official name is ''Paederia foetida'', but in general, it is called Skunkvine, Stinkvine, after all the name comes from the stench.
I imagined that this plant also has a foul odor to protect itself, just as a rose flower has thorns.
My imagination was almost correct because it was explained on the Japanese Wiki that "it is believed to be allelopathy, that is, to protect oneself from harmful insects and the like."
Another name is Saotomekazura (Girl Vine / from the appearance of pretty flowers blooming), which feels more like it.
(There are even more names.)
Hekusokazura are used for a Haiku and a proverb, and I get the impression that the plant is firmly rooted in culture.
The proverb is "Even Hekusokazura can be in full bloom".
It means just as there is a time to make adorable flowers even for Hekusokazura, which has an unpleasant odour and is not very liked, even a clumsy girl becomes attractive as she gets older.

This saying is likely to be criticized as so and so harassment if it is said in this era.
2) 夏の植物 / Summer Plants
七里ヶ浜住宅街の庭にはたくさんの種類の植物があり、散歩しつつ見ることができ楽しいです。
同じ道でも季節により変わるので、１年中楽しむことができます。
There are many kinds of plants in the garden of the Shichirigahama residential area, and it is fun to see them while taking a walk.
Even on the same road, things change depending on the season, so I can enjoy them all year round.

バナナの木
七里ヶ浜住宅街で初めてバナナの木を見ました。
でも、もしかしたら、バショウ (芭蕉) かもしれません。
Banana Tree

in Shichirigahama residential area.
But maybe it's Basho: Musa Basjoo : Japanese Banana.

ブーゲンビリア
Bougainvillea
何度となく、この家のブーゲンビリアの撮影はしています。
とっても見事なので、今日もまたしてしまいました。
I've been photographing the Bougainvillea
by this house many times.
It's so splendid that I've done it again today.

同じ庭に白と濃いピンクの花の木があります。 同じ木で色違いなのか、似ている木なのかわかりません。 There are white and dark pink flowering trees in the same garden.
I don't know if it's the same tree but different colours or similar trees 残念ながらどちらの木の名前もわかりません。 Unfortunately I don't know the name of either tree. |

カラフル
真夏にはここにミニヒマワリが咲いていました。
今はダリア系の花がカラフルさを誇っています。
Colorful
Mini sunflowers were in bloom here in midsummer. Dahlia family flowers in full bloom are now very colorful. |

フヨウ
フヨウ (芙蓉) はこの住宅街でよく見ます。
よく似たタチアオイ (立葵) は、見た記憶がありません。
タチアオイの花の時期が梅雨に重なります。
梅雨には散歩にあまりでないので、見ないのかもしれません。
Fuyo : Hibiscus Mutabilis often seen in this residential area. with Tsuyu : Japanese rainy season. I don't often go for a walk in Tsuyu, so I may not see it.

1日花
フヨウは、1日花です。
白から濃いピンクに色が変わってゆくことでも知られています。
短い人生を豊かに生きてゆく様が凝縮されているように感じます。
One-day Flower |
Fuyo is a one-day flower.
It is also known for its colour changing from white to deep pink.
I feel that the way of living a short life richly is condensed. |

これはフヨウでなくハイビスカス。
葉の形がフヨウと違います。

海に近づくと、赤いハイビスカスを見るようになりました。
偶然なのか、実際、この地域にその傾向があるのかはわかりません。
As I approached the sea, I would see red Hibiscus.
I don't know if it's a coincidence or, in fact, they tend to be in this residential area.
3) 魅力的なもの/ Attractive Things
何度も撮影していることはもちろん認識していますが、それでも何かしら魅力的なものがあり、撮影してしまいます。
今日は、ペパーミントカラーの車が可愛くて思わず撮影してしまいました。

4) 中心地 / Central Area

緑のプロムナード
緑のプロムナードは住宅街の中心地にあります。
西友まではこのプロムナードが最短なのですが、
夏はセミの声に包まれるので、Rはここを避けます。
Green Promenade
Green Promenade is located in the centre of the residential area.
This promenade is the shortest way to Seiyu supermarket,
however, R avoids here because it is full of
cicadas's callings in the summer.

Rの診療所も薬局も中心地にあります。
今日の外出の目的、彼の持病の薬を購入しました。
その後、西友で買い物をして帰宅というのが当初の予定でした。
七里ヶ浜の西友へ向かう時には、いつも心の隅には、
「できれば海へ行きたい」
という願望があります。
夏の日差しや体力・気力のせいで、ほとんどその願望を叶えることはできません。
ですが、今日は太陽がガンガン照りつけるほどでもないし、体力もまだありました。
Rに
「海を見に行きたい！」
と話すと彼はちょっとびっくりして
「OK!」
と同意してくれました。
出不精であり、すぐに帰宅したがる私が、外出の範囲を広げるのは珍しいことでした。
なので、Rが驚いたのです。

Pacific BAKERY
神奈川県鎌倉市七里ガ浜東3丁目1番6号
新しくできたお店ですが本店は、七里ヶ浜の海辺の駐車場にある
'Pacific DRIVE-IN 七里ヶ浜' です。
私は一度も利用したことがありませんが、
Pacific DRIVE-IN はいつも行列ができています。
コロナ禍でもその人気ぶりは変わりません。
ここもこうして行列ができています。

Central Area
R's clinic and pharmacy are in the centre.
For the purpose of going out today, he bought medicine for his chronic disease.
After that, our original plan was to go home after shopping at Seiyu supermarket.
Whenever I go to the supermarket in Shichirigahama, I always have my desire
"I want to go to the sea if possible"
in a corner of my inside.
Due to the summer sunshine, physical strength and energy, it is almost impossible to fulfill that desire.
However, today the sun wasn't shining hard and I was still physically fit.
I said to R,
"I want to go see the sea!"
he was a little surprised
"OK!"
he agreed with me.
It was unusual for me, who is a-stay-at home and wants to go home soon, to expand the range of going out.
So R was surprised.
5) 海へ / To the Sea
桜のプロムナードから七里ヶ浜の海までは直進で、下って行きます。
From Cherry Promenade to Shichirigahama beach, go straight down.
ムラサキゴテン
歩道の植栽にムラサキゴテン (紫御殿) が使用されています。
緑と紫の配色が目を引きます。
Tradescantia Pallida
Tradescantia Pallida is used for planting by pavement.
The colour scheme of green and purple is eye-catching.

七里ヶ浜高校前
ドラマ、映画、アニメーションによく用いられる場所です。
七里ヶ浜で最も有名な場所かもしれません。
長谷の 'カフェ・ルオント' / 'cafe Luonto'にも、
この場所を描いた絵が飾ってあります。

It is a popular place for dramas, films and animations.
It may be the most famous place in Shichirigahama.

6) 海辺 / Beach
A. 江ノ電 / Enoden Train
今まで何度も何度も撮影しても、江ノ電を見ると撮影したくなってしまいます。
No matter how many times I photograph, when I see Enoden trains,
I want to photograph.

B. 浜辺からの江ノ島
Enoshima Island from Beach
七里ヶ浜の浜辺から、江ノ島も何度も撮影していますが、浜辺にくるとやっぱり撮影してしまいます。
まあ、江ノ島はどこにいても見えると撮影します(笑)。
I have taken photographs of Enoshima island many times from Shichirigahama Beach, but when I come to the beach, I still take pictures.
Well, I photograph when I can see Enoshima wherever I am (Laugh).
C. 海〜！ / Sea~!

浜辺にたくさんの流木がありました。
私にはちょっと珍しい光景でした。

駐車場建設のために浜辺が狭くなっています。
なので満ち潮の時は、ここの浜辺は歩けません。
The beach is narrow due to the construction of the carpark.
So at high tide, we can't walk on the beach here. |

江ノ電・七里ヶ浜駅から鎌倉へ移動することにしました。
山を登って帰らなくて済む方法を選択しました(笑)。
鎌倉駅周辺で、ランチをとり、散策もしました。
それは次からのセクションに分けて載せます。
We decided to move from Enoden Shichirigahama Station to Kamakura.
We chose a way to avoid having to climb a mountain and go home (Laugh).
We had lunch and took a walk around Kamakura station.
Our walk will be divided into the following sections.
