1) いつものクリスマスツリー 

     Usual Christmas Tree

鎌倉に住みはじめたときに購入したツリーです。
毎年、葉が落ち、ワイヤー部分も弱くなってきています。
これには主に雪の結晶のオーナメントを飾っていましたが
今年は少し変えてみようかと思い、他のものも混ぜました。

This is the tree I bought when I started living in Kamakura.

Every year, the leaves are falling and the wires are getting weaker.

I mainly decorate this with snowflake ornaments,

 but I thought I'd change it a little this year, 

so I mixed other things as well.

赤バージョン
昨年から、赤バージョンが登場。
昨年、赤バージョンを追加するかどうか、
スワロブスキーの戦略にハマってしまうかどうかを迷って
来年は買わない！と決めて、昨年は買いました。
にもかかわらず、今年も買いました。(笑)
スワロブスキーの思う壺にハマっているのは、
悔しいけれど仕方ありませんわ...
正確にいうと、雪の結晶は夫Rからのクリスマスプレゼントです。

Red Version

From last year, a red version has appeared.

I was wondering last year if I would add the red version and 

if I am tricked by Swarovski's strategy, 

so I decided I won't buy it next year! but bought one last year.

Nevertheless, I bought it this year as well. (Laugh)

It's regrettable that I play into Swarovski's hands but I can't help it ...

To be precise, the snowflake is a Christmas gift from my husband R.

スイスから送られてきて驚きました。

I bought them online at Swarovski in Japanese,

3) 七色の光 / Seven Colours 

雪の結晶が光を反射して天井や壁に七色の光を作ります。
それを発見して夫婦で喜びました。

Snowflakes reflect lights and create seven colours of lights
on the ceiling and walls.
We found them and were delighted.

4) 新しいクリスマスツリー 

     New Christmas Tree

12月半ばに到着予定だった、新しいクリスマスツリーが11月28日に届きました。

'12月半ば' と通知がきていたので、古いツリーに飾り付けをしてしまったのです。

新しいツリーに、古いツリーから飾り付けをし直すパワーはなく、

今年は、新しいツリーにはライトの飾りのみにしました。

中国から！
アマゾンで購入したら、中国から届きました。
共産主義の国で、クリスマス・ツリーを
作っていることの不思議さと、
お金のためならなんでもする中国(人)という先入観
が交錯しました。
もう、忘れよう！クリスマスだもん！

From China!

We bought it from Amazon and it arrived from China.

The wonder of making a Christmas tree

 in a communist country and 

my preconception of China (people) who 

do everything for money, were mixed.

Let's forget! It's Christmas!

A new Christmas tree, which was due to arrive in mid-December, arrived on 28th of November.

I was notified that it would be "mid-December", so I decorated the old tree.

I do not have the power to redecorate onto the new tree from the old tree, and the new tree only has light decorations this year.

まあ、そう決めたので、購入もしたのです。
こうして並べると、親子のようで微笑ましい...
来年、古いツリーを廃棄できるのか、疑わしくなってきました。
まあ、来年、決めよう！

New and Old

 I decided to discard the old tree next year 

and only decorate the new one.

Well, I decided, so I bought the new one.

When arranged in this way, it looks like

 a parent and child and is heart warming...

1) デコレーション・ライト/ Decoration Lights

在宅時間が長いので、家にいながら楽しめるものとして、クリスマス・デコレーションがあります。

'賑やかし' なので、人によっては、うるさいだけかもしれませんが、私達は楽しんでいます。

Rと出会う前から、私はクリスマスツリーのオーナメントを集めていましたし、スワロブスキーの雪の結晶も毎年購入していました。

オーナメントについては次のセクションに載せます (下記)。

Rと出会って増えたのは、クリスマス・デコレーション・ライトです。

彼は元々ライトが好きなので、まあ、当然の流れになります。

ここ何年かは私からRへのクリスマスプレゼントは、クリスマス・

デコレーション・ライトです。

毎年増え続けるので、今年はもういらないかと思いましたら、Rが

大きなクリスマスツリーを希望して、結果、ライトも必要となり、

今年も彼にライトをプレゼントしました。

もう、今年で終わりにしたい...です。

There is R in the garden.

Decoration Lights

Since we spend a lot of time at home, we can enjoy Christmas decorations while we are at home.

They are 'Nigiyakashi' ; 'Walla', so they may only be noisy for some people, but we enjoy them.

Before I met R, I was collecting Christmas tree ornaments and buying Swarovski snowflakes every year.

About Ornaments will be in the next section, below.

It is Christmas decoration lights that have increased since I met R.

He is always a fan of lights, so it's no wonder.

For the last few years, my Christmas gift to R has been Christmas decoration lights.

It keeps increasing every year, so if I thought I didn't need it anymore this year, R wanted a big Christmas tree, and as a result, we needed lights, and I gifted him lights again this year.

2) 窓辺 / Windowside

何年か前に友人Tからクリスマスライトをプレゼントされました。

テニスボールサイズで、パステルカラーで気に入っています。

ライトが切れると取り替えがきかないので、実は、毎年ドキドキしながら使用しています。

A few years ago, my friend T gave me Christmas lights.

They are the size of tennis balls in pastel colours and I love them.

When a bulb goes out, it cannot be replaced, so in fact, I use it every year with trepidation.

3) 新しいライト / New Lights 

左が新しいライトをRが飾り付けているところです。

12月半ばに到着予定だった、新しいクリスマスツリーが11月28日に届いたので、さっそく、Rが組み立てて、ライトも飾り付けました。

リンゴの大量消費のために、
'ヨーグルトポムポム' をたくさん作りました。
母や姉にお福分けしました。

2) クリスマスのレコード / Christmas Records

夫Rは、レコードに拘っていて、時々、中古のレコードを売っている店でレコードを購入します。

英国でも日本でもレコード店は少なくなってきているので、英国でも日本でもお店もレコードも探しています。

クリスマスシーズンになると、クリスマス音楽をレコードで聴きながら、クリスマスの飾り付けをしたり、お料理をしたりします。

今年は、少し早めにクリスマスの飾り付けをはじめたので、クリスマス音楽も早めに聴きました。

クリスマスの飾り付けについては、のちのセクションにあげます。

My husband R is obsessed with records and sometimes buys records at shops that sell used records.

The number of record stores in Britain and Japan is decreasing, so he is looking for shops and records in Britain and Japan.

During the Christmas season, we listen to Christmas music on vinyl, decorate for Christmas, and cook.

This year, we started decorating Christmas a little earlier, so we listened to Christmas music early.

11月24日 
ゴールデン・グリーンの秋野菜が届きました。
通常なら玉ねぎやネギが入っているでしょうけれど、
Rがそれらが食べられないので、違う野菜を入れてくれています。
細やかな配慮に感謝です！

Golden Green's autumn vegetables have arrived.
Normally it would contain onions and leeks,
but R can't eat them, so they put in different vegetables.

お知らせの中に、野良猫について書かれていました。
彼らはすでに犬'ハル'くんを家族の一員に加えています。
私は常々、
「犬は人間の友となり、猫は人間が僕 (シモべ)になる」
と思っています。
それをメールに書いたら
「その通り」
というお返事でした(笑)。

In their letter, they write about a stray cat.

They have already added the dog 'Haru' to their family.

I always think, 

"A dog becomes a human friend, and as for cats, humans become manservants.

When I wrote this in an email to them, 

the reply was "That's right" (Laugh).

4) 三國シェフの動画 / Video of Chef Mikuni

Youtubeで、三國 清三 (ミクニ キヨミ/ 1954 ~) シェフが動画を頻繁にアップしています。

それに気がついたのは最近でしたが、三國シェフの動画は今年の春くらいから登場しているようです。

三國シェフのコロナ禍で在宅している家族へ向けてのサービスまたはボランティア精神からではないかと推測しています。

もちろん、東京四ツ谷の "オテル・ドゥ・ミクニ" の宣伝も兼ねているでしょう。

1985年に "オテル・ドゥ・ミクニ"を開店しているので、今年は35周年にあたり、そのイベントの1つなのかもしれません。

理由はどうあれ、私は面白く拝見させていただいています。

残念ながら、彼の95%のレシピは、Rが食べられない食材、苦手な食材を使用しているので使用できず、私がアレンジしてしまうので、シェフが作った本来の味のものは食べていません。

ですが、動画は、私にとっては新鮮な組み合わせを知ったり、Rが嫌いで使用できなかったローズマリーを使用するきっかけになったりしています。

Rにも見せて、彼も日本語がわからないながらも、面白く見たようです。

この日は、キッシュ:  ★(動画)を作りました。

オリジナルレシピの主材料は、ほうれん草、玉ねぎ、にんにく、チーズ(キューブ)、ドライトマトですが、このうちRが食べられるのは、ほうれん草とチーズだけです。

その上、この日はほうれん草の代わりに、春菊を使用し、チーズはシェフが使用したものとは全く違うチーズを使用しました。

なので、三國シェフのレシピは、キッシュを作るきっかけになったにすぎないのです。

それでも、私にはキッシュを作ったことがなかったので、良いきっかけをいただけたし、結果、私達は美味しくこの日のキッシュを食べました。

三國シェフの動画がなければ、この日のキッシュは存在しませんでしたし、これからも動画を拝見させていただこうかと思っています。

Video of Chef Mikuni 

On Youtube, Chef Kiyomi Mikuni (1954 ~) frequently uploads videos.

I only noticed them recently, but it seems that Chef Mikuni's videos have appeared since this spring.

I presume that it may be from Chef Mikuni's service or volunteer spirit for the family living at home in the corona pandemic.

Of course, it will also serve as a promotion for his restaurant, "Hôtel de Mikuni" in Yotsuya, Tokyo.

Since "Hôtel de Mikuni" was opened in 1985, this year marks the 35th anniversary and may be one of the events.

Whatever the reason, I am enjoying watching them.

Unfortunately, 95% of his recipes use ingredients that R can't eat or R is not good at, so I can't use them, and I adapt them, so we eat the taste that is not the chef's original taste.

However, the videos have inspired me to find fresh combinations and to use rosemary, which R dislikes so I couldn't use.

I showed some of the videos to R, and even though he didn't understand Japanese, he seemed to find them interesting.

On this day, I made quiche : ★ (video).

The main ingredients of the original recipe are spinach, onions, garlic, cheese (cube), and dried tomatoes, but of these, R can only eat spinach and cheese.

What's more, I used Glebionis Coronaria instead of spinach that day, and the cheese was completely different from the one used by the chef.

So, Chef Mikuni's recipe was just the catalyst for making quiche.

Still, I had never made a quiche, so it was a good opportunity and as a result we ate the quiche of the day deliciously.

Without the video of Chef Mikuni, the quiche of the day would not have existed, and I would like to continue watching his videos.

年に1度咲くと思っていた、'生姜の花' が
また咲いてびっくりしました。
ずっと、'生姜の花' と思っていましたが実は
食べる生姜と違っていました。
これは、
"ハナシュクシャ(花縮砂 / Ginger Lily、White Ginger)"
で、ショウガ科の多年生の顕花植物 (ケンカショウブツ)です。
インド、バングラデシュ、ネパール、ブータン、ミャンマー、
タイ、中国南部から東部の台湾に自生しています。
その本来の環境では、開花は8月から12月の間に
起こるそうなので、今咲いているのは、まあ、通常なのですね。

I was surprised that the ginger flower, 
which I expected to bloom once a year, bloomed again.

I had thought it is an 'edible ginger's flower', 

but in fact it wasn't the ginger.

This is "Ginger Lily : White Ginger", 

 a perennial flowering plant in the Zingiberaceae family.

It grows naturally native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and 

Bhutan, through Myanmar and Thailand, 

southern China to Taiwan in the East.

In its original environment, flowering occurs

 between August and December, 

so it is normal to see this now.
