ヘッドフォード/ Headford の町の北西約3kmに、中世のフランシスコ会の修道院、
ロスコモン修道院 / Ross Errilly Friary / Mainistir Ros Oirialaigh の遺跡があります。
ぜひここに！と思ったのでした(苦笑)。
"Friary" means Priory in 'Gaelic' (Irish).
About 3 km northwest of Headford is a ruin of the medieval Franciscan monastery, Ross Errilly Friary / Mainistir Ros Oirialaigh.
When I found the ruin on a map, actually I misunderstood "Friary" as "Fairy", so I thought I would be sure to come here! (Wry smile)

管理者もいず、無料で入れます。
辺鄙な場所に野ざらしという保存ですが、ゴールウェイ州の国定史跡になっているので、基本的な手入れはされているように感じました。
'妖精の砦' も同様に国定史跡でしたが、中へは入れませんでした。
国定史跡でもいろいろな扱いがあるのですね。

It does not have an administrator and there is no charge.
It is a weather-beaten ruin and it is in a remote place, but since it is in the List of National Monuments in County Galway, I felt that basic care was being done.
'Fairy Fort' is on the List, although we could not go in.
Different sites on the List have various treatments.

The abbey was founded in 1351 in a record, however, this date has been called into question by numerous historians.
Perhaps the current consensus is that the abbey was established around 1460.

どしゃぶりに近い雨も時おり降るような、雨の日でしたが私達以外にも訪問者が次々と現れて驚きました。
Although it was raining, often heavily, it was surprising that there were several other visitors.

| 説明板はこれのみ。 せっかく、良い状態で保存しているのですから各部屋に 何に使用されていたのかを説明するものがあったら良いな〜と思いました。
There is only this one explanation board.
The ruin has been kept well so I wish there were something to explain
how each room was used.

| 地元では、ロス修道院 / Ross Abbey と呼ばれて、 なおかつ、埋葬地として引き続き使用されています。 塔は鐘楼です。 小さく見えている人影は他のビジターです。 幽霊ではありませんからご安心を。 In the locality, it is called Ross Abbey and is still used as a burial ground. That tower was a bell tower.
The
shadow that looks small is another visitors.
Do not worry because it is not a ghost. |

表の説明板には、フランシスコ会の修道士の日常生活がこの遺跡で
見て取れるという内容があります。
この部屋には、暖炉や魚のタンクがあり、彼らの生活ぶりが感じられます。

explanatory board outside tells us the everyday life of the
Franciscan monks.
There
is content that it is well represented.
In this room, there were fireplaces and fish tank and I can feel their lifestyle.

内部を歩いていると、迷路の中にいるようでした。
実際、どこを歩いているかわからなかったので、
私達にとっては迷路でした！
お墓もあるし、棺もあるし、一人で中に入る勇気はないです。

Actually,
we did not know where we were walking, so it was a maze for us!
