Bustugyo-ji Temple and Kamakura Samurai
A. しのぶ塚 / Shinobu Mound
一般的には、仏行寺は、ツツジで有名です。
この日、私と夫Rが仏行寺へ行ったのもツツジが目的でした。
ですが、私がこのお寺を知ったのは、鎌倉山にある、'信夫 (シノブ) の塚'、"しのぶ塚" を見つけたことに端を発します。
しのぶは、鎌倉武士、梶原 景季 (カジワラ カゲスエ / 1162 - 1200) の妻でした。
'しのぶ塚' については下記。

Shinobu Mound
In general, Bustugyoji Temple is famous for azaleas.
I and my husband R visited Bustugyo-ji Temple on this day, our purpose was to see the azaleas.
However, I had found out about this temple from having found 'Shinobu Mound' : 'Shinobu-zuka' in Kamakurayama.
Shinobu was the wife of Kajiwara Kagesue (1162 - 1200), a samurai in Kamakura Period.

B. 源太塚 / Genta Mound
景季の死を知った信夫が、この地、笛田で自害しました。
彼女の死後も周辺に彼女の悲しい泣き声がするので、村人たちは信夫の霊を慰めるため1495年仏性院日秀に供養を依頼し、この地に庵を結んだのが仏行寺の始まりと言われています。
元は、しのぶ塚は、源太塚と向き合って建っていましたが、その後の宅地開発や笛田公園の整備などのために、うつされました。

| 源太塚 源太は景季の別名です。 源太塚は、庭と墓地を抜けた、山の頂上にあります。 Genta Mound : Genta-zuka Genta Mound : Genta-zuka is where one arm of Kajiwara Kagesue is buried. Genta is another name for Kagesue. Genta Mound is at the top of the mountain, through the garden and graveyard. |

Incident of Kajiwara Kagetoki (1199 - 1200)
After Yoritomo's death, Kagesue's father, Kagetoki was banished from Kamakura after being impeached by 66 Gokenins ; Vassals, and the Kajiwara clan retreated to Sagami Province where he and his son : Kagesue committed suicide in the mountains.
(There is also a theory that they were attacked and defeated
by a local samurai group.)
Shinobu knew of Genta's death and committed suicide here in Fueda.
Even after her death, her sad crying was heard around there, so the villagers asked the Busshoin Nishu Saint in 1495 to comfort the spirit of Shinobu, and it was said the hermitage was Butsugyoji -Temple's origin.
It is said that only one arm of Kagesue (Genta) was sent to Kamakura and buried in Genta-zuka : Genta Mound in Butsugyoji -Temple.
Originally, Shinobu-zuka was built facing Genta-zuka, but it is thought that it was moved due to the subsequent development of residential land and the improvement of Fueda Park.

The subject came from the 'Council of 13 Representatives of Lower-Ranking Vassals : 13 People's Consensus System', and Kajiwara Kagetoki, Kagesue's father will be played

 鎌倉山から降りて、夫婦池沿い、笛田住宅街を通り、 仏行寺の表示を見つけました。 前回はこの表示を見損ない、少し先まで進んでしまい、 戻りました。 |
 We went down from Kamakurayama, passed along Meoto-ike : Marriage Couple Pond, and through the Fueda residential area, and found the sign of Bustugyo-ji Temple. Last time, we missed this display, went a little further, and returned. |

A. 登り/ Climb

| ツツジの山へ登るか、池ある庭園へ向かうか迷います。 We were wondering whether to climb the mountain of azaleas or head to the garden with a pond.  登りを選びました。 この登りが結構きついのは知っていたので、 「ヨシ！」 と、気合を入れました！ We chose to climb. I knew this climb is quite hard, so I resolved "Get Set!".  では登ります！ Here we climb! |
景色はとてもドラマチックです。
私の撮影ではそれが伝わらないように感じます。
The scenery is very dramatic.
I don't feel that it is transmitted in my photographs.
源太塚まで登り、休憩しました。
源太塚にはベンチが用意されています。
前回は富士山が見えましたが、今日は見えませんでした。
ルートを変えて降りて行きました。

We climbed to Genta Mound and took a break.
Benches are available up at the Mound.
Last time we could see Mt. Fuji, but not today.
We walked down a different path from the path we had climbed up.

4) 池泉式回遊庭園 / Japanese Garden

池泉式回遊庭園 (チセンシキカイユウテイエン) は、 大きな池を中心に配し、その周囲に園路を巡らして、 各地の景勝などを再現した庭です。 [池泉庭園 (チセンテイエン) : Water Garden] The garden is called "Chisenshiki-kaiyuteien" which is one of Japanese garden styles. This is a water garden and it consists of artificial hills (Tsukiyama), small islands in a pond, bridges, garden stones, etc and people can walk along paths. |

園路 園路を歩きました。 園路は少し登りで、池を見下ろして、芝の庭へ続きます。 Garden Path I walked along the garden path. The garden path is a little uphill, overlooking the pond and leading to the lawn garden. |

芝のある庭へ園路を通って出ました。
ベンチのある場所へ向かいましたら、芝への入園が止められていました。
前回来た時は、自由に入ることができていました。
もしかすると、ツツジのシーズン中は、芝を守るために止められているのかもしれません。
私は、園路から芝庭へ向かったので知らずに入ってしまいました。ごめんなさい。
Rはベンチで私を待っていました。
I walked further along the garden path to the lawn garden.
When I crossed the lawn to the side where the benches are, the access to the lawn was blocked.
When we came last time, it was open.
Perhaps during the azalea season, access is stopped to protect the lawn.
I went from the garden path to the lawn garden, so I entered without knowing it. Sorry.
R was on the bench waiting for me.
