Contents
The Second Apple Cake
Apple Bread Cake
The Second Apple Cake
Breakfast
Recipe
Apple Bread Cake
Apple Bread Cake
My husband R loves apples, so I bought a 2kg box of apples.
I told R that
"I would make an apple cake"
but I spent time creating works for my exhibition and couldn't make apple cake.
It's finally done today.
If I start working in the studio, I would loose the opportunity and physical strength to make cakes, so I made them in the early morning.
At home, 'Apple Pompom' is our standard apple cake, but today
I decided to make a different cake.
I prepared the ingredients while looking at the recipe I had already chosen.
I cut the number of apples in the recipe, but I used large apples, and
I felt that there was much more than the recipe.
After all, I made two different types of apple cake.
When R came down, it was just before the first apple cake was baked.
I think it was a happy morning for him with a lovely aroma all over the house.
The Second Apple Cake
The Second Cake The recipe does not use any sugar or oil. But I used honey for the dough and sprinkled cane sugar and cinnamon powder on the top. The oven dish was coated with vegetable oil, sprinkled with flour and baked.
The recipe says 'Apple Pancake'.
Video (Youtube):★
It is characterized by not using sugar and oil at all.
However, not using sugar at all made me feel uneasy as a cake, so I added a teaspoon of honey and a generous amount of raisins soaked in rum and with rum.
There is more yogurt than the amount of flour, so I wondered if it was similar to yogurt pompom.
Also, this is a pancake in the recipe, so bake it in a frying pan.
I think it's quite thick for a pancake.
I used the oven so that I can leave the kitchen.
Breakfast
Right : The First Cake Left : The Second Cake They look more delicious in the morning light (Laugh). The two cakes had very different tastes and textures. R liked them very much. Hoo! They are home-made taste, aren't they?
Usually, cakes are mostly eaten by R, so I asked him,
"Can you manage two cakes in time?"
he replied
"Mochiron!". ("Of Course" or "A piece of cake" in Japanese).
I was relieved and headed to the studio.

Preparation for My Exhibition - Slip, 20th of February 2022
Contents
Slip and Slurry
Porcelain Slip
Slip and Slurry
Slip and Slurry
I understand that the slurry is mixed with a Pigment (Ganryo) to make Slip or a slip paint : Shitaenogu in Japanese.
At least I make slip paint that way.
In Japan, Deishou often means moulding (casting), but not in this case.
Actually, I usually call both Deishou and Shitaenogu, Slip in Japanese.
Slip (Shitaenogu) is my favourite technique and I have used it in my work.
Slip can be applied before or after biscuit firing.
I use slip before, but the latter is common in both Japan and Britain.
I had thought my method was common in Britain, but my method is in a minority and I recently knew about it.
I use slip before biscuit firing because I don't want the slip colour to mix with my transparent glaze.
I also feel that it adheres better to the porcelain clay.
Whether it's the colour or the adhesion with the clay, it may be the case with my own slip.
However, if I have a chance, I would like to try applying the slip paint after biscuit firing.
Porcelain Slip
Porcelain Slip If the work's base is ecru porcelain, I use white porcelain slip. Previously, I used Kutani porcelain and Arita porcelain. However, these became difficult to obtain, and I am currently using porcelain from Koda-todo Co., Ltd.
Porcelain Slip
The slip in the photograph above is not mixed with colour.
In Japan, there is a 'Dobe' that acts as an adhesive for clay, and my slip may be very similar or the same.
To paint, I use porcelain clay that is different from the porcelain clay that formed the shape.
After glaze firing, a slight colour difference, for example, there is a difference between white and ecru (close to white).
You may not notice the difference unless you look closely and carefully.
This is an idea that I got after returning to Japan, knowing that there are differences in the colors of Japanese and British porcelain clays, and that domestic porcelain clays also differ depending on the production area or company.
I love porcelain clay and I also want to show the base material.
Cloud Series (pseudonym) I use this technique for the Cloud Series.
