この鐘楼は、'Great South Tower of St. Vitus Cathedral’ とか ’Clock Tower'とか ’Main Tower' とか、呼ばれているようです。

と記載されています。
ここでは私は、鐘楼と表記します。

プロの方が間違えるのですから、私が迷って当然です。

聖ヴィート大聖堂には豪華なステンドグラスがたくさん設置されています。
'フライング・バットレス'の補強のおかげで、それらが装飾品のひとつとして成り立つのだと知りました。
ステンドグラスのデザインだけに目を奪われがちですが、建築的な要素があってこその存在なのですね。

Flying Buttress
There are many gorgeous
stained glass windows in St. Vitus Cathedral .
I found 'Flying buttress' supports the building so that the windows could be set as
one of decorations.
Our eyes tend to be
captivated only by the windows, however, the windows could not exist without 'Flying
buttress'.

| 雄鶏 雄鶏はキリスト教のシンボルであると聞いていましたが、 今回実感しました。 塔と雄鶏と鐘の話がここに→★ :『村の雄鶏が時を作れば』吉田雅彦 著 私はかなり面白く読ませていただきました。 吉田氏はドイツ伝承文学を研究されているらしいので、 興味の対象が私と似ているのかもしれません。 私にとっては、伝承文学もファンタジーの一つです。 なお、『村の雄鶏が時を作れば』のなかでは 鐘と雄鶏が同時に設置されるのは「信仰の促し」とあり、 聖ヴィート大聖堂もそうなのでしょう。 Chanticleer (Cockerel) I heard chanticleer is a symbol of Christianity and I really feel this in this trip. A Japanese essay : "Chanticleer in Folklore and Religion : ★ by Masahiko Yoshida" says that when a bell and a chanticleer are set up, this means「Of the faith promote」. Perhaps St. Vitus Cathedral is like this. The essay is written in Japanese, so I translated that myself. Mr. Yoshida seems to investigate about German Oral Literature. I feel my interests are in a similar direction, because Oral Literature is kind of fantasy world for me. |

| 高い〜〜！ カレル橋の東西の塔が両方見える高さです。 両塔にも登ることができるそうですが、 私達は橋を渡っただけでした。 High~~~! This height gives us views, we can see to the East and West Towers of Charles Bridge. People can climb both these towers, though we just walked across the bridge. |

D.百塔の街、千塔の街
Town of One Hundred or One Thousand Towers
'百塔の街'と呼ばれていたプラハが最近では'千塔の街'と呼ばれるようです。
この現象は日本だけかもしれません。
百であろうが、千であろうが、とにかく、プラハは塔、尖塔が多いということを伝えようとしている表現なのですね。
塔は要塞であり、宗教の場でありと思うと、この街の歴史が厳しく複雑であることを推測します。
今は、そのたくさんの塔が観光客を集め、世界的にも有名な観光地となっていることが嬉しい。
2002年には水害にもあっています。
10年以上、ずっとプラハへ行きたいと思っていた私がようやくこの地を訪れることができたのも、ここが平和になったからです。
これからもずっと平和でいてほしいと思います。

Town of One Hundred or One Thousand Towers
Prague was called 'Town
of One Hundred Towers', nowadays it seems to become called 'Town of
One Thousand Towers'.
Maybe this is only in Japan.
One hundred or one
thousand doesn't matter anyway they would claim that Prague has many, many towers and spires.
I think about towers as mostly of fortresses and spires mostly of religions, and then I
guess their history is harsh and complicated.
Nowadays these many
towers and spires gather tourists, Prague has become one of the most
popular sightseeing cities and I am glad.
In 2002, there was damage from a flood.(★)
I had really wanted to visit
here for more than ten years, at last I came here, because here has become peaceful.
I hope it stays peaceful forever.

旧市街地の北になります。
今回のプラハ旅行ではこの地域に行けないな〜と思いつつ、撮影だけしました。
高いところからの撮影というのは、実際に訪れることはできない場所を目で訪れることで想像の世界を広げ、次回への期待も後押ししてくれるように思います。
また、角度が違って見えるところも魅力です。
多くの人が似たり寄ったりの思いがあり、高い所というのは人々に好まれるのではないかと思います。
Upper Vltava Direction
Here is the North of the Old Town.
While I thought we could not go there in this Prague trip, I just photographed them.
I feel that photographs from the high position means if I cannot go places practically, my eyes could visit there and make my imaginations wider about the places, and also they support my motivation about the places for another visit.
Moreover, it is attractive that we can see different angles from high up.
I think many people have similar feelings to this and they also like high positions.
