雪 / Snow

雪と雹(ヒョウ)の間のような雪が降りました。
We had snow which looked like hail...

Rの髪にも...ちょっとおかしい(笑)
They are on R's hair...it is a little funny, isn't it?(laugh)

家の裏は美しい雪景色でした。
Behind the house was a beautiful snow view.

1) クリスマスパーティ / Christmas Party

友人を招いて恒例のクリスマスパーティをしました。

今回は私が2015年の個展準備で忙しいので、友人達の好意に甘え、

持ち寄りパーティにしました。

このパーティは来年から関西で仕事を始めるKちゃんの壮行会でもありました。

Kちゃん、元気でね。 グッドラック！

友人の作った前菜
友人のHさんは、もしかしたらいらっしゃるかもしれないお客様の分も
作ってくれました。

Friend made all these starters
The friend, H San, made extra in case other guests arrived.

写真を取り忘れてしまいましたが、他の友人もレンコンコロッケや
チーズスティック、杏のシャーベットなどを持って来てくれました。
どれもみな美味しかったです。ありがとうございました。

Although I forgot to take photographs, other friends brought 
renkon croquettes, cheese sticks and apricot sorbet which they had made. 
All the dishes were delicious. Thank you very much!

We had a Christmas party with friends us usual.

I am busy preparing for my exhibition in 2015, so I presumed on my friends' goodwill and they brought their cooking and food. 

This party was partly for Christmas and partly as farewell to K chan who will start working in Kansai in 2015.

バイキング形式
紫色のものは、紫芋のマッシュポテトです。
人によってその色が奇麗に見えたり、食欲をそがれたり?...。
オリーヴは小豆島産で、優しい味で私は好きです。

Buffet Style
The purple colour in one of a bowls is mashed purple sweet potato.
Some people welcomed it and felt beautiful, some people lose their appetite?.
The pickled olives were grown in Shōdo Island and
 the taste is mild for me, so I like it.  

私は他のお料理や前菜も用意していたのですが、
食べきれないのでお土産にもって帰っていただきました。

Everybody felt full, so the other dishes I had prepared became souvenirs. 

私達とKちゃんは、翌朝に、ロール白菜を食べました。
We and K chan had this dish : 'Hakusai Rolls' next day as our breakfast.

1本めはシャンパンで、次はスパークリングワイン、赤ワイン......

デザートは英国のチョコレートで作ったチョコレートケーキを

生クリームと友人のお土産のフルーツと一緒に出しました。

The first drink was champagne, the next was sparkling wine, 

and then red wines...

Later dessert was chocolate cake made using British chocolate with whipped cream and fruits that were friend's souvenirs.

楽しいひとときでした。

友人達に合う機会が長い間なかったので、

なお一層みんなの顔が見れて嬉しかったです。

That was enjoyable time!

I hadn't had a chance to see any of them for a long time,

so I could enjoy their company and was very pleased.

3) 静かなイヴとクリスマス 

    Quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

クリスマスイヴの朝食
食べ物がたくさんあって、パーティに出せなかったピザが朝食です。
パーティ後の私達の食事は、殆どが余り物です。

Christmas Eve's Breakfast
I could not serve the pizza in our party, because there were so many other dishes.
After the party, most of our meals are leftovers from the party.

紅茶はK ちゃんからいただいたアールグレイを飲みました。

美味しかった！ありがとう！

We had a pot of Earl Grey tea which K chan gave us.

It is good, thank you!

シャンパンと前菜
クリスマスの晩は、昨年我家に滞在していたMちゃんからの
シャンパンを飲みました。
随分前に英国でRがいただいていたのですが、Rが忘れていたので、
クリスマスプレゼントのようになりました。
Mちゃん、ありがとう！今年は彼女はフランスでクリスマスを過ごしています。

パーティに出せなかった前菜2品がこの日の前菜になりました。
でもRが手を加えて見栄えよくしてくれました。
相も変わらず、主菜も残り物を食べてます(苦笑)。

Champagne and Starters
On Christmas Night, we had a champagne which was given
by M chan who stayed here last Christmas.
She gave it to R in Britain a long time ago, although he forgot about it,
so it became like a Christmas present from her. 
M chan, thank you! She spends this Christmas in France.

We had two starters which I could not serve for the party.
However, R added extra work which made them look better.
Nowadays our main dishes are still leftovers (wry smile).

4)作品 / Works

一歩一歩
イヴもクリスマス当日も、私は作品制作しています。
私は何をするにもスローなので、毎日コツコツとするというのが
私のスタイルになっています。
違う言葉でいえば、短期間でやり遂げるガッツ！がありません....

Step by Step
I work every day including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

I do everything slowly so my style is step by step and day by day.
In other words I do not have the energy to do something quickly.

友人の水野結実（ミズノ ユミ）さんが鎌倉の'Onari Cafe' (★) でクリスマスグッズや絵を展示販売しています。→★

本日、Rとともに行ってきました。

My friend, Yumi Mizuno displays and sells her works : Christmas goods and pictures in "Onari Cafe" in Kamakura. →★ only in Japanese.

Today I visited there with R.

買ったポストカード
Rはカフェオレ、私は疲労回復効果のハーヴティ
(カモミール、レモングラス、オレンジピール)をいただきました。

We bought Postcards
R had café au lait and I had a pot of herb tea for recovery from exhaustion; 
German chamomile, lemongrass and orange peel.

慌ただしい中で家を出たので自分のカメラを忘れ、Rのカメラ(私のお古)を借りました。

訪れたのが夕方で、私はフラッシュ撮影を殆どしないので、写真が鮮明ではありません。

ですが、なんとなく、暖かみがあり、水野さんの作品を妨げてはいないと思います。

I was busy when I left  my house, I forgot my camera, I borrowed R's camera which used to be mine. 

It was late afternoon when we visited and usually I do not use flash, so my photographs are not clear.

However, somehow I think they are warm and also it does not disturb her work.

Onari Cafeは鎌倉駅西口で、こちらは東口の駅前です。
暗くてよくわかりませんが、写真正面が鎌倉駅です。

この日は21日にあるクリスマスパーティのための予約していた丸鶏を
Tスーパーに買いに行くのが主な目的でした。
ですが、他の事もいろいろあり、すっかり忘れてしまいました。
帰りのバスの中で気がつき、自分自身にがっかり！
帰宅後スーパーに電話して明日の午前中に行く旨を伝えました。

The cafe is to the west of Kamakura station, here is in the east front of the station.
It is difficult see the station in the middle of this photograph.

Today, we went out mainly for buying a Christmas bird which 
I had booked from T supermarket.
However, we had a few other things and completely forgot to collect it.
I realized it in a bus on our way home and then I was very disappointed by myself.
After home, I called the supermarket about buying tomorrow.

❸12月の鎌倉散策 - ベルグフェルド カフェ本店 / Walking in Kamakura - Bergfeld Main Cafe, 11th of December, 2014

ろうそく立て/ Candle-stick

妙本寺のあとに、雪ノ下にあるベルグフェルド カフェ本店まで歩きました。

妙本寺のことは下記：

散歩を楽しむためにちょっと遠回りになる裏道を使用したので、40分くらいかかったでしょうか？

ベルグフェルド カフェは、雪ノ下店と長谷店の2軒(★)が、鎌倉にあります。

本店はベルグフェルド ベーカリーが隣にあり、そのお隣には"鎌倉ハム工房-アルトシュタット"があるので、食いしん坊の私にはこちらの方が益があり、Rは本店の

カフェオレやアインシュペナー/ Einspänner (ウィンナー珈琲)のファンです。

ただ長谷店の方が今の自宅から行きやすいので、利用しやすいです。

❷12月の鎌倉散策 - 妙本寺 / Walking in Kamakura - Myohon Te...

I think it took about 40 minutes on foot from Myohon-Temple to the cafe, we chose a deliberately roundabout way to enjoy walking.

There are two "Bergfeld" cafes ; the main one is in Yukinoshita and the branch in Hase, Kamakura.

The main cafe is next-door to their bakery and the bakery is next-door to 'Kamakura Ham, Alter Stadt', so the main one has more benefit for me who is a glutton, and R is a fan of their cafe au lait and Einspänner.

Just one thing, Hase cafe is closer to our house and so it is easier to get to.

本店では試食用のパンが、試食という以上に食べ放題のようにいただけます。
こういう点も食べ放題に弱いRは好きなのでしょう(笑)。

People can have as many bread samples as they like in the main cafe.
I think R likes these types of offer, so he likes the main one. (laugh)

クリスマス ディスプレイ

Christmas Displays

お店がドイツ系なので、ディスプレイも素朴なヨーロッパな感じです。
The Cafe's style is German, 
so the display seems to be simple European atmosphere.

サンタクロースといよりもドワーフに思えます。
複数のためか、形のためか？

They remind me of dwarves rather than Santa Claus : Father Christmas.
I wonder if because the number is few or their shape.

♱サンタクロース、ファザークリスマスそしてパパノエル♱
英国では、サンタクロースは、
"ファーザー クリスマス / Father Christmas"とも呼ばれます。

フランスでは、パパノエル /  Papa Noël。
そういえば鎌倉にはこの名前のレストラン：★があります。
私が好きなレストランであり、
珍しく私がデザートを他の人にあげず、自分で食べるお店です。

♱Santa Claus, Father Christmas and Papa Noël♱
In Britain, they sometimes call 'Father Christmas' 'Santa Claus'.

In France it is called Papa Noël.
Oh Yes!  Kamakura has a restaurant : "Papa Noël": ★.
I like the restaurant.
Unusually, here I do not give my dessert to other people but eat it myself.

固い質感がドイツっぽい？
アドヴェントキャンドル立てが一番下の棚にあります。
アドヴェントキャンドルの慣習はドイツで始められたと考えられていて、
現在ではヨーローッパに広がっています。(アメリカも？？？）
日本にも少しづつ広まっているのでしょうか？
私も含めて、知ってはいても実行はしない人が多いかもしれませんね。

Is the German style to use materials with a hard feel?
There is an Advent Candle Stand on the lower shelf.
The Advent Candle seems to have started in Germany 
and then nowadays it spreads around Europe. (Maybe USA, too???)
Does it spread in Japan?
Even people (including me) who know about them might not have them, might they?

男性の職人さんが作ったのではないかと思えて仕方ありません。

I cannot stop feeling this was made by a man.

❷12月の鎌倉散策 - 妙本寺 / Walking in Kamakura - Myohon Temple11th of December, 2014

妙本寺 / Myohon Temple (Myohon-ji)

このお寺は鎌倉駅から徒歩10分程度の近距離にありますが
山深いお寺にあるような雰囲気があります。
私が行くときはいつも静かで、
ちょっと怖いような寂しいような気持ちになります。
でもまた「その暗い感じ」が魅力的なのです。

This temple is quite close to Kamakura Station,
it takes about 10 minutes on foot from the station,
although the atmosphere is as if the temple is hidden in deep mountains.
When I visit there, always it is quiet which I feel is a little scary and sad.
However, the dark feeling is attractive for me.

HPで、お寺の由来を知ると、お寺の持っている暗さが
自然の環境だけではないような気もして来ます。

I quite like this temple.

鎌倉の多くの場所で紅葉は終わってしまっていますが、
ここにはまだ少し残っていました。

Now autumn colour season has finished in many places in Kamakura,

although some is still here. 

ここには風景の邪魔をする電線がないので、
気持ちよく写真が撮れるのだと気がつきました。

I realized that there are no cables to disturb the scenery,
so I photographed comfortably.

お寺の奥から祇園山ハイキングコースの途中に入って行けますが、
行ったことはありません。

We can join the hiking trail: Gionyama Hiking Course 
from the deepest path of the temple, although I haven't walked the course.
