Spring Garden

| '春' はすぎてしまった! なので、ここは手入れの時期。 こうしたガーデナーの努力の中に美しい花々や空間が 作り出されるということを確認します。 'Spring' has gone! So, here is the season that they tend the garden. I confirm that beautiful flowers and spaces are created by gardeners effort like this. |

| 木々はライム ここはハロルド•ニコルソン (1886 - 1968) が デザインした小道です。 英国議会を去った後、 彼は一層精力的にここに手を入れたのです。 Trees are Lime trees. The path was designed by Harold Nicolson (1886 - 1968). After he left Parliament, he put even more care into here. |

| 小さな花の生命を大切にする心遣いが好ましい。 I do like their consideration for the life of a small flower . |

| シーズンでは華やかな雰囲気になるのだと思いますが、 これはこれでなにか、魅力を感じます。 I guess it has a gorgeous atmosphere in their season, however, somehow this in itself is attractive to me. |

Cottage Garden

| 一般的にイングリッシュ•ガーデンといえば コテージガーデンのスタイルが筆頭くるではないでしょうか？ 少なくとも、私にはそうです。
そのスタイルは英国の庭のなかでは、
比較的新しいもの (19世紀頃？) のはずなのですが...
このコテージガーデンは 大陸のガーデン(コンチネンタルガーデン)のスタイルが 混じっていると感じました。 それはこのような刈り込み(トピアリーに近い？)や 花壇の幾何学的デザインがあるからです。 ハロルド•ニコルソン (1886 - 1968) と ヴィッタ•サックヴィル•ウエスト (1892 - 1962) の趣味が、 特にハロルドの趣味が感じられます。 Generally, people think about an English Garden, firstly they have an image which is a cottage garden style, don't they? At least, for me, it is coming straight away. However, it might be that the style is relatively recent (19th century?)... I feel this cottage garden is mixed with a continental style, because it has pruning (close to a topiary?) and the geometric design of the flower beds. I feel the taste of Harold Nicolson (1886 - 1968) and Vita Sackville-West (1892 - 1962), particularly, Harold. |

| これは私だけのイメージかもしれませんが、 コテージガーデンの花の色は、主に 薄紫、紫、ピンク、白、そしてちょっぴり黄色。 ここは黄色、赤、 オレンジのコンビネーションが強いです。 It might only be my imagination that flower colours in a cottage garden are mainly pale purple, purple, pink, white and some yellow. Here, the combination of yellow, red and orange is strong.    |
