厳島で、素敵なカフェを見つけました。

私達は1階でカフェ・ラテを飲みました。
他のお客さんはランチもしていらっしゃいました。

We had cups of cafe latte on the ground floor.
Other people had their lunch.

このカフェでお土産を結構、買いました。
We bought a few souvenirs. 

おしゃれなパッケージに惹かれてコーヒーも買ってしまいました。
The stylish package tempted me and we bought coffee beans, too.

2階も素敵 / First Floor is Lovely, too.

鎌倉のカフェのよう？
なら、わざわざここでカフェしなくてもという思いもちょっと沸きましたが、
好きな傾向はどこに行っても同じです(笑)。

It could be a cafe in Kamakura?
After I felt like this, I had a quick thought that if it was like this,
I would not have to come to this cafe, however,
my taste is the same wherever I go. (laugh)

2) 千畳閣 / Senjyoukaku-Temple

どこからでも見える五重塔 

 Five-storied Pagoda can be seen from everywhere

五重塔は1407年創建、高さ27．6ｍ。
夜間にはライトアップもされます。
見てみたい！

  Five-storied Pagoda
The pagoda was built in 1407.
Height : 27.6m.
It is lit up at might, I would see it.

千畳閣 正面

幅28.2ｍ、奥行き46.6ｍ、高さ17.4m千畳閣 (センジョウカク) は、

嚴島神社末社豊国神社 (イツクシマジンジャ セッシャ トヨクニジンジャ)、 

本殿の通称です。

1587年に豊臣秀吉 (1537 -1598) が、戦歿将兵の慰霊のために大経堂として

建立しはじめたのですが、秀吉の死により未完成に終わっています。

1872年から大経堂を千畳閣(全部畳を敷けば857畳)と改称し、

仏像を大願寺に移し、豊国神社としました。

お寺から神社になったのですね。

祭神は豊臣秀吉と加藤清正 (1562 -1611)です。

Front of Senjoyoukaku : One Thousand Tatami - Skyscraper

Width : 28.2m / Depth : 46.6m / Heigh : 17.4m

Senjoyoukaku is a popular name of  Itsukushima-Jinjya Massha Toyokuni-jinjya

which is Itsukushima-Jinjya's branch.

Building of Senjoyoukaku was begun in1587 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537 -1598),

for Memorial services to soldiers of war and at that time called Daikyodo.

However, it was not completed because Toyotomi Hideyoshi passed away.

In 1872, the name of Daikyodo changed to Senjyokaku meaning there can hold 1,000 tatami mats (actually there are 857).

A statue of Buddha was moved to Daiganji-Temple

 and since then it has been Toyokuni-jinnjya Shrine.

It was changed from a temple to a shrine.

The Shrine is dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and KatōKiyomasa (1562 -1611).

いつものように、時間がなく、靴を脱いで中に入ることはできず、

建物の半周を歩いただけでした。

As usual we did not have enough time, we could not take off our shoes and

 so we just walked around one side of the building.

豊国神社 (トヨクニジンジャ）だと思っていますが、

ホウコクと読むのかもしれません?

3) 鹿 / Deer 

シカが大繁殖
適正生息頭数は100頭とされますが
現在島内には600頭が居るものと推測されています。
神の遣いとされているので、処分は難しいのでしょう。
それにね〜、かわいいし....。

Deer huge Breeding
They say the island can safely support 100 deer,
although today, there seem to be 600 in the island.
It is thought that deer are messengers, so it is difficult to dispose of them,
And they are lovely...

鹿の親子 / Deer Mother and Child

記念写真に使用されています。
カメラマンさんかに餌をねだります。

They are used for group photographs.
They pester to be fed by a photographer.

シャッターを切る段階になるとこうしてきちんと並んで
彼らなりにお仕事しているのですね。
こんなふうに働いているのでは、処分はそりゃ〜難しいでしょうよ。

When he takes photographs, they make a line as their job.
Indeed, disposing is very difficult while they work like this.

4) 牡蠣 / Oysters

広島の名産はもみじ饅頭と思ってはいましたが、厳島が発祥の地とは知りませんでした。

ツアーの殆どの方が購入されていたように思います。 

もみじ饅頭 
ツアーには一人一個の無料のおまんじゅうがついていますが、
Rにあげ、彼が2つ食べました。

  Momiji-manju
The tour includes one, though I gave mine to R, he ate two.

I knew Hiroshima's popular product is Momiji-manju (above), which is a sweet maple-leaf-shaped steamed bun, although I did not know it began in Itsukushima.

I think most of our fellow tourists bought them.

私は甘いものよりも、牡蠣派！
ツアーには一人一個の無料の焼き牡蠣 (写真) がついていて、
牡蠣が嫌いなRの分もペロリっといただきました。美味しかった！

I Prefer Oyster to Sweets!
The tour includes one barbequed oyster (see photograph), 
R does not like oysters, so I polished off his too! Delicious!

牡蠣の養殖をウィンドーディスプレイに使用しているお店がありました。
そしてその前で焼いています。

A shop uses cultured oysters as window display and
then they barbeque oysters in front of the display. 

大杓子

長さ7.5m / 重さ2.5トン
杓子(シャクシ)も厳島のお土産として有名。
私もカフェ、'Sarasvati (サラスヴァティ)' でいくつか、買いました。

Length 7.5m / Weight : 2.5 ton
Rice Spoon is a popular Istukushima product.
I bought some in the cafe, 'Sarasvati.

厳島を離れます。
また訪ねたいです！

We are leaving Itsukushima.
I hope I come back!
