British House - British Consular Residence
鎌倉で仲良くしていただいているカップル(H & TJ) に横浜山手に連れて行っていただきました。
We get on with a couple in Kamakura, they took us to Yamate in Yokohama.

| "GR とⅥ "のモノグラム "GR とⅥ"は、ジョージ6世 (1895- 1952 / 在位: 1936 - 1952) を表し、 その治世にこの建物が建てられたことを示しています。 ジョージ6世 は、現英国女王、エリザベス2世 (1926-) の父、 最近では『英国王のスピーチ』(2010) で知られていると思います。 当時の時代性もあるかもしれませんが、1937年は彼の戴冠式の年、 それに合わせて建てられたということもあるのではと推測します。 "GR Ⅵ" of Monogram It shows the building was built in George Ⅵ (1895- 1952) reign (1936 - 1952). He was current British Queen, Ellzabeth Ⅱ (1926-)'s father. I think nowadays he is well known from『The King's Speech』 (2010). | 館内にフラワーアレンジメントが数多く見られます。 There are a few flower arrangements in the house.  ボランティアの方がの作品でしょうか？ この場所は市民のイベントなどによく使用されていると聞きました。 Are the works by volunteers？ I heard here is often used for local people's events.    こういうアレンジメントができるは、やっぱり洋館！ This style of arrangements suits Western House! |

| トワンテ山 港の見える丘公園と岩崎博物館がある一帯に 1864年にイギリス軍、第20連隊が最初に駐屯しました。 20の英語発音、トゥエンティから、この一帯が 'トワンテ山'と呼ばれました。 1875年にイギリス軍は撤退しています。 Towante Yama Whole neighborhood of "Harbor View Park" and "Iwasaki Museum" was called 'Towante Yama'. British Armed Forces, the 20th Regiment were first stationed here in1863. The areas was called 'Towante Yama', 'Towante' from 20's pronounciation in English. Yama means a mountain or a hill. The Force evacuated in 1875. |
