谷中、根津、千駄木は、
"谷根千(やねせん)"
と呼ばれ、懐かしい家々や昔の町並みの情緒が残っています。
以前私は白山に住んでいいたので、
この近くは何回か散歩をしました。

"谷根千"はまた、'文豪の街'とも呼ばれます。
森鴎外、夏目漱石、内田百閒、高村光太郎、北原白秋、幸田露伴、
田山花袋、江戸川乱歩、木下順二などなどが住んでいたり、彼らの
小説の舞台になっています。
例えば、夏目漱石の『我が輩は猫である』はこの町で書かれました。

'Literary Master District'
The towns of Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi, are called "YaNeSen", and many relatively old buildings have survived and there are old streets with a lot of atmosphere.
I had lived in Hakusan, which is close to "YaNeSen", so I had walked there a few times.

Famous Japanese novelists, poets, playwrights and others have lived there as well as often setting their stories there.
For example, Soseki Natsume wrote "I Am Cat" in the area.

A. グループ展/ The Group Exhibition
根津を訪ねたこの日は、グループ展
『 未来への視座/ Views for Future No.10』
が目的でした。
以前通っていた陶芸教室(イエロークレイ)で知り合った召田ご夫妻が参加されています。
この陶芸教室で私は日本の陶芸の基礎を少し学びました。
このグループ展はシルクスクリーン工房•久利屋グラフィックが2001年より刊行している
版画作品集『未来への視座/ Views for Future 』
が土台になっています。
今年で10年めで、テーマは"surface - 浅い•深い"です。

昨年私は横浜で見ました。私はあまり版画のことは知らないのですが、昨年も今年も、皆さんの作品は素晴らしく、日本の版画のレベルの高さを感じ、心地よい驚きを感じました。
The Group Exhibition
I visited Nezu for a group exhibition, "Views for Future No.10".
The Meshida couple has joined this exhibition.
I met them in a pottery class at 'Yellow Clay' where I learned some of the basics of Japanese ceramics.
The exhibition is to publicize the collection of printed works 'Views for Future'.
Since 2001 'Kuriya Graphic Studio Silk Screen' have organized annual group exhibitions.
The theme of the10th exhibition is 'surface - Light •Deep'.

I visited the 9th exhibition, held in Yokohama.
Although I do not know very much about printing, the member's works are wonderful.
I felt the standard of Japanese printings is high and I was impressed.

向かって左が能里子さんの作品。
彼女の陶芸作品はとてもおしゃれ、
このシルクスクリーンもおしゃれです。
友人の方々をモデルにされていると聞きました。
その方達もきっと素敵なのでしょうね。

Her ceramic works are very stylish, and these prints are too.
I heard that she uses her friends as subjects.
I guess the friends are lovely.

参加されていますが、残念ながら、 私は彼の大きな作品の展覧会を見た事がありません。 陶芸教室で製作されていたのは知っています。 その作品は三つに分けて製作され窯入れし、焼いたと聞きました。 Right: Masashi Meshida's prints. | 丁字屋
明治28年(1895)に創業された手ぬぐい屋さん。
鎌倉にも手ぬぐい屋さんはいくつかありますが、 老舗ではありません。 なので、ここでも私は友人にいくつか買いました。
自分用にはもったいなくて買えませんでした。
店内撮影の許可はご主人からいただけなかったので、
表からのみの写真です。 最近のお店も、テイトモダン、他のいくつかの美術館、博物館でも前記のグループ展でも、私の個展でも撮影は自由なので、 ご主人の返事にちょっとびっくりしました。 でもこれが老舗の姿勢なのかとも思い、 う〜〜ん、伝統を守る姿勢にちょっと感激しました。 Choujiya
Choujiya was established in 1895,
they sell Tenugui : Japanese towels. In Kamakura, there are a few tenugui shops , although I think they are not old shops. So I bought a few here for my friends. I did not buy for myself, because they are too good for me.
I do not have permission to take photographs inside from the shop's owner, so my photographs are only of the outside of the shop.
Nowadays in most shops, Tate Modern, some galleries and museums, the group exhibition, my own exhibition and so on, photographs are allowed. So I was a little bit surprised by the owner, however, I thought this is an attitude of an old shop and indeed, I am a little impressed by his attitude of upholding tradition. |

| 蕎麦屋、'鷹匠' 私は食べ物の中で一等、蕎麦が好き！ ここは美味しいと聞いている蕎麦屋さんでしたが、 今回はいろいろな都合でパス。 次回はぜひぜひ、寄ってみたいお店です。 'Takasho' Soba Noodle restaurant.
Japanese buckwheat noodles, "Soba", is my most favourite food.
I heard this is a very good Soba restaurant.
Unfortunately I could not go in this time.
Next time, I really want to visit here.

This sweet shop has an old atmosphere.
I visited here a few times and I bought a few times,

| お風呂屋さん この前は何度か通ったことがありますが、一度も利用したことは ありませんし、これからもないでしょう。 けれども、私は母方の祖母がお風呂屋さんを経営していましたし、父が育った麻布十番には有名な麻布十番温泉もあるので、 なんとなく、お風呂屋さんには特別な思いがあり、心ひかれます。 Public Baths
I have passed here a few times,
although I have never used them and I will not.
However, my maternal grandmother managed her public baths and also my father had grown up in Azabu Juban which has a famous public bath 'Azabu Juban Onsen', so I have a special feeling about public baths and they are attractive for me.

3000株のつつじが有名ですが、残念ながら私はつつじの季節に訪ねたことがありません。
Here is famous for their 3000 azaleas, although I haven't ever visited in the azalea season.
