梨木香歩さんの愛読書ということがきっかけで
『百年の孤独』
を読み始めました。
この本の'あとがき'を梨木さんが書いていたので、ちょっと驚きました。

ある家族の100年の歴史の小説で、リアルな世界と幻想が混沌としています。
本には家族の家系図が添えられています。
世代を超えて同じ名前 'アルカディオ' ('Arcadio' ) が使用されているので、読んでいる間、家系図を何度も見なければなりませんでした。

本１冊にたくさんの物語がつまっていて、一度読むくらいでは、味わうことはできません。
梨木さんが愛読書にするのが少し理解できたように思います。
ですが、これを十分に楽しむための、味わうための"膨大な時間"を、費やす気力も体力も私にはありません。
いつの日にか、また、読もうと思うかもしれませんけれど……。

The Sorcerer's Reference Book
"One Hundred Years of Solitude"is Kaho Nashiki's favourite book and it become my motivation to read this book, because Kaho Nashiki is one of my favourite authors.
The postscript was written by Nashiki Kaho, so I was a little surprised.
This story is 100 years of a family's history.
It mixes real worlds and illusions.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
According to Wikipedia,
"most notably for popularizing a literary style labeled as magical realism, which uses magical elements and events in otherwise ordinary and realistic situations."
Indeed, while I was reading, I felt I drifted in a world of illusion.
After reading, this reminded of me a film "Brazil"(1985).
The book has a page of the family tree.
I looked at the page many times, while I read the story, because the same name 'Arcadio' has carried on for generations.
The novel has many closely related stories, so I think the reader cannot appreciate the novel enough if they only read it once.

So I feel I understand why the book is Kaho Nashiki's favourite.
However, I do not have the energy to enjoy the reading which demands an enormous amount of time. One of these days, I might read it again........
A great sorcerer wrote this book.
Only sorcerer's apprentices or those who have a gift for sorcery can read this as a reference book.
After this book, I felt I wanted to read a different story like
"家守奇譚 - Iemorikitan / The Beautiful Wonders of the House" by Kaho Nashiki, who must have the gift.

を読みました。
『薬指の標本』はフランスで映画化"L' Annulaire" (2005) もされていますし、いくつかの小川さんの作品は英語、ドイツ語、イタリア語などに翻訳もされています。
国際的に通じる小説を書く方なんですね。

これらの作品から、小川さんが人間の体の生理的なできごとや体のパーツに深い興味があることがわかります。
彼女は小説内の登場人物達が持つ、残酷さや心の冷たさのような、心の闇の部分を描いていていますね。
その闇の部分は悲しさ (憂い？) があります。
それらが彼女の魅力となって、たくさんのファンを獲得したのでしょう。
ちょっとオスカーワイルドを思い出しましたが、あそこまで狂気な感じではないかな？

It reminds me of Oscar Wilde, although the attractiveness of evil is not as far as his madness, is it?

は健康的に感じます。

『ミーナの行進』は、時代設定が1972〜３年というだけでなく、
多少、古いセンスを感じたので、初期の作品かと思っていました。
ですが、結構最近の作品 (2006) なので、ちょっと驚きました。

この作品には小川さんの闇の魅力があまり出ていないようです。
これは年とともに、小川さんが精神的に癒されて、心が暗闇からオレンジ色の街頭の光のそばまでやってきたように私は思います。
攻撃的な部分がなくなってきたとも言えるかもしれません。
これが創作面として良い事なのか、どうか、私にはわかりませんが、読後感は悪くありません。
アーティストやミュージシャンや作家などの創作に関わる人々は、
一つのオリジナルなスタイルを築くと、違ったスタイルを模索するのは通常あることだと思います。
その変化は徐々に現れる場合と、新しい作品に突然現れることもあります。

"Meena's March" is set from 1972 to 73, but also I feel the novel has an old atmosphere and an old fashioned style, so I thought this was one of her early works, however,
it is quite recent (2006), so I was somewhat surprised.
I do not feel the dark shadow of her attraction to evil.
I think she is somehow healing with age as if the darkness in her heart is moving to the orange colour of streetlights.
I might say the aggressive elements are reducing.
I do not know if it is good or bad for her creativity, I can say my impressions of the book are not negative.
