1) ミニハボタン / Miniature Ornamental Kale

ミニ・ハボタン(葉牡丹)は、冬のシーズンに華やかさを庭に添えてくれ、私達を明るい気持ちにさせてくれます。

なので、ココ何年か毎年、鉢植えのものを買っています。

Miniature Ornamental Kale
Miniature Ornamental Kale (Mini · Habotan) adds glamour to our garden in the winter season and makes us feel bright.

So, we have bought them for the last few years.

2) ミニチュア蘭 /  Miniature Orchid

2月に友人Iさんからいただいた蘭が、3月になっても咲いていて嬉しい！
I am glad that orchids, from my friend I san in February, are still blooming in March!

3) 庭 / Garden

カナメモチ、英語の通称はレッド・ロビン、正式名はPhotinia。

春先にヴィヴィットな赤い葉が輝きます。

Japanese name is Kanamemochi, English's nickname is  Red Robin 

and the formal name is Photinia.

Vivid red leaves shine in early spring.

年々大きくなるフリージア
This Freesia growing year by year.

クリスマス・ローズ

毎年、予想外の場所に咲き出すものがあります。

クリスマス・ローズと思っていますが、ヘレボルス (ヘレボラス) が

正式名称のようです。

「クリスマス・ローズ」の名は、クリスマスの頃に開花する

ヘレボルス・ニゲル (Helleborus Niger) だけを指した名前だそうです。

鎌倉ではこの花はクリスマスの時期ではなく、

春先に咲くのですけれど、誰もヘレボルスとは呼びません。

クリスマス・ローズのほうが響きが良いです！

Christmas Rose

Every year, 'Christmas Roses' bloom in unexpected places.

I think that it is Christmas Rose, 
but Hellebores (Helleborus) seems to be the official name.

The designation "Christmas Rose" seems to be a name that refers only to

'Helleborus Niger' which blooms at Christmas time.

In Kamakura this flower is not at Christmas time, but it blooms in the early spring,

but no one says 'Hellebores'.

'Christmas Rose' sounds better!

紫蘭、3月

今年の シラン (紫蘭) はたくさん芽が出ました。

この紫蘭 (こちらの表記の方が好きです) は、母の庭からやってきたのでした。

'Hyacinth Orchid' has got a lot of buds this year.

These came from my mother's garden.

山椒
実生(ミショウ)の山椒が裏庭にあります。
今年は早めに葉を収穫したので、食べることが出来ました。
例年、忘れて葉が硬くなりすぎてしまいます。

Japanese Pepper
There is a seedling Japanese Pepper in the backyard.
I harvested leaves earlier this year, so we were able to eat them.
Usually I forget, and the leaves become too hard every year.

4) 鳥 / Birds

コジュケイのカップル
数年前にファミリーのコジュケイを庭で見つけてから、毎年見かけてはいました。けれど、正確な数はわかりませんでした。
今年は、はっきりカップルだとわかりました。

Chinese Bamboo Partridge 

Since we found a family of Chinese Bamboo Partridge
in our garden a few years ago, we saw them every year.

But I did not know the exact number of them.

I understood that this year it was a couple.

こちらはオス(と思う)。なんとなく凛々しいでしょう？
Here is a male (I think). Somehow it is quite distinguished isn' it?

こちらはメスです。メスはオスのあとを追ってゆくのです。
This is female. The female follows the male.

ガビチョウ(画眉鳥)

'ガビチョウ'は、初めて見た鳥です...うーん、見ていたかもしれませんが
'ガビチョウ'と認知していませんでした。

ガビチョウは、うるさいくらいよく鳴き(笑)、

ウグイスやキビタキ、オオルリ、サンコウチョウといった

他の鳥のさえずりを真似するそうです。

ガビチョウとは知らず、声はよく聞いていたのかもしれません。

 Chinese Hwamei : Gabichō

It was the first time I saw the bird, 'Chinese Hwamei' ... Well, I may have watched it

although I did not recognize them as 'Chinese Hwamei'.

These birds sing well and loudly (Laugh).

They seem to mimic other singing birds such as Bush Warbler : Ugis, 

Narcissus Flycatcher : Kibitaki,  Blue-and-White Flycatcher : Ohururi, 

Japanese Paradise Flycatcher : Sanchochō.

I might listen to the singing of Chinese Hwamei, 
without knowing it is Chinese Hwamei.
