ロビン・フッズ・ベイ / Robin Hood's Bay は、小さな漁村と湾です。
ただの漁村ではありません。
漁業、密輸、化石、急な斜面に密集した家々、テラコッタカラーの屋根、迷路のような路地などで知られる観光地でもあります。
'ロビン・フッズ ベイ'と聞いて、ノッティングハム / Nottingham のロビンフッド / Robin Hood を殆どの人が連想し、何か関係が？と殆どの人が期待するのではないでしょうか？
少なくとも私はそうでした。
その期待に応えるように、
'ロビンフッドがここで休日を過ごした'とか
'ロビンフッドがここで船を持っていて、フランスの海賊と戦って、(そこはもちろん) 勝って、盗品をこの村の貧しい人々に分け与えた'
とかあるようです。
どれも、事実であるか、定かではありません。

案内板にはロビン・フッズ・ベイの特色が殆ど説明されています。
もしもロビン・フッズ・ベイとロビンフッドの関連が知りたい人は
博物館に行くように促しています。
私達は行きませんでした。
果たして何人の人がこれを見て行くのでしょう？

Not Just a Fishing Village
Robin
Hood's Bay is a small fishing village and a bay.
Not just a fishing village.
Here is well known as a sightseeing spot for fishing, smuggling, fossils, houses are concentrated on a scarp, terra‐cotta colour roofs and a maze of alleys.
Speaking of 'Robin Hood's Bay', most people think about Robin Hood of Nottingham and expect there to be a connection between here and him, don't they?
At least I did.
There are expectations,
'Robin
Hood spent time here as his holiday'
'Robin
Hood had his ship (boat) here and he fought with French Pirates
and then (of course) he won and he gave the stolen articles to
poor people in this village.
However, nothing is certain.

| Millenium Sculpture (千年王国 彫刻または千年祭彫刻) 残念ながら、作者がわかりません。 ロビン・フッズ・ベイの崖上に設置されている彫刻です。 第 一印象はフクロウなのですが、実はいろいろなものが盛り込まれています。 千年の間のできごとを盛り込んでいるのでしょうか？ 私はその中に、ウロボロスを見つけたので撮影しました。 私が理解しているウロボロスとは北欧神話やケルト文化での 自分の尾を咥えている竜で永遠を意味します。 他にも世界各地で同様のイメージがあります。 ロビン・フッズ・ベイの地は、北欧から来たヴァイキングが定住したと 考えられているので、この彫刻の中にウロボロスが 盛り込まれているのしれません。 彫刻というよりも石碑という存在なのかも？ Millenium Sculpture Unfortunately I do not know who made it. This is on the cliff of Robin Hood's Bay. My first impression was an Owl, in fact this has many things. Does it include events from one thousand years? I found an Ouroboros in them, so I photographed. I understand that an Ouroboros is a dragon which can hold its own tail in its mouth in Norse Mythology or Celtic culture, it means eternal. There are similar images all around the world. They say that Vikings settled down in Robin Hoods' Bay, so the Ouroboros might be incorporated because of this. Maybe this is a Stone Monument rather than Sculpture. |

| 崖上には宿泊所が連なっています。 海辺のホテル、B＆Bという気がします。 The accommodations stand on the cliff. I feel they are seaside hotels and B&Bs.  |
 海辺まで行くには徒歩で急斜面をくだって行きます。 ひ弱な私達は、ここで、ちょっと下まで行くかを考えました。 まあ、結局、意を決して降りて行ったのです。 If we want to get the sea, we must walk down the scarp. We are weak, so here we considered whether we would go down or not. Well, we decided anyway we would go and we started down. |

| お土産屋さんが並ぶ道 この道で、子供達が化石を売っていました。 The Street for Souvenirs Kids sold fossils on this street. |

| 恐竜と化石 恐竜の化石も発見されます。 アンモナイトだけではないのですね。 あっ、この博物館には入っていません。 ロビン・フッズ ベイ;ではありませんが、ウィットビー / Whitby の南で、 今年の1月に竜脚下目(リュウキャクモク/ Sauropoda）の骨が 発見されています(★)。 そういえば、ウィットビーの町の紋章には 緑のアンモナイトがデザインされいているのでした。 Dinosaur and Fossil Dinosaur fossils have been found, too. Oh! Yes! We did not go in this museum. It was not in this bay, but to the south of Whitby, Sauropoda bone fossils were found in January, 2015.(★) Speaking of Whitby, the town's Arms design has green Ammonites.
