ドッグプールの曲がり角
'カドフェルを追って'のセクションにこのセクションは入れませんでしたが、
実はこの通りに保安官ヒュー・べリンガーの家はありました。
''カドフェルがB&Bのあるこの角を曲がると
ヒュー・べリンガーの家の門の光 (たいまつ) が見えた''
とお話の中にあるので、このB&Bとかなり近かったと考えられます。
ドッグプール通りの先に聖メアリー教会もあります。
"The Old House"の二つの煙突は、背が高く3つが重なり、一組ずつになっていて
1490年後期に作られた元の形を保っています。
カドフェルの時代には家はここにありましたが、今の姿ではありませんでした。
Dogpole's Corner
I do not insert this section into "Follow Cadfael" sections,
in fact, Sheriff Hugh Beringar's house is on Dogpole.
One of the stories says that
"As Brother Cadfael rounded the corner,
he could see the torches at the gate of Hugh Beringar's house".
The corner means this B&B's corner, so I think Hugh's house is quite close to here.
Ahead along Dogpole, there is St. Mary's Church.
The chimneys of the Old House are tall triple - clustered
which retains the original of the late 1490s.
In Cadfael's time, here was a house although it was not this house. |

どの部屋も、お風呂、シャワー、トイレ付き (スイーツ / Suite と英国では呼ばれる) で、
①と②は2階、③は3階にあります。
3階は避けて、私たちの日取り上、泊まれた部屋は、 '② Mary Tudor' (メアリー1世)でしたけれど、B&Bのサイトで見る限り、②が一番好ましく思えます。
メアリー1世は、母、キャサリン・オブ・アラゴンの評判の良さと違い、いろいろな意味で一般的によく思われていません。
最も彼女の評判を落としているのは、プロテスタントに対する過酷な迫害で、300人は処刑したと言われ、ブラッディ・メアリー (血まみれのメアリー) と名付けられています。
メアリー1世の父は、良くも悪くも有名な、6度結婚したヘンリー6世。
ヘンリー8世は、ローマ・カトリック教会からイングランド国教会を切り離しました。
(1540年に修道院解散もしましたね〜)
けれども、メアリー1世は、母、キャサリン・オブ・アラゴンの影響で熱心な
カトリック信者 (ローマ・カトリック信者) に育ったのです。詳細はここで→★
そのメアリー1世が、まだ王女だった1526年に、母のキャサリン・オブ・アラゴンを訪ねた際に、泊まった部屋が② の'Mary Tudor' です。
部屋は十分に広く、お風呂も豪華、部屋からの景色も素敵でした。

The B&B has three rooms (★) : below.
Every room is a suite and ①, ② are first floor and ③ is second floor.
We avoid second floor and could get ② Mary Tudor on by our schedule, so we stayed in this room, though I feel the room is the most favourite in the B&B's website.
Mary I of England (1516 - 1558 / reign 1553 - 1558) hasn't seemed to be typically good in various meanings, unlike her mother,
I could say that what lost Mary I's reputation was her severe persecution of Protestantism, including executing 300 and she has been named Bloody Mary.
Her father was Henry
VIII (1491 - 1547/ reign1509 -1547) who was good and bad, famous, as well as married six times.
He ordered the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church.
( He did the dissolution of the monasteries in 1540, didn't he?)
However, Mary I was influenced by Catherine of Aragon, so an earnest Catholic believer.
When Mary I was still a princess and she visited her mother,
Catherine of Aragon, she stayed in a room, ② Mary Tudor, in 1526.
The room is wide, the bath is gorgeous and views are lovely.

In the bathroom, they say if we take things like shampoo and conditioner, they would take a charge and made me have a feeling of a sense of reality (wryly smile)  |

| 緑を見つつ、お風呂に浸かれます。 ３つの部屋で開放感があるバスルームはここだけなので、 私はこの部屋が一番好きです。 While we look at green, we can soak in the bath. only this bathroom has a sense of space in the three bedrooms, so I like this room most.  |
