ディングルから出て / After The Dingle

セヴァーン川方面を見る
広さは、約東京ドーム2個半、ひろびろしています。

Towards the River Severn 
The area of the park is  29 acres, so it is spacious.

パビリオン / Pavilion

左：聖チャッド教会
 右: ミカエル像後ろ姿、大きな翼〜！

Left : St. Chad's Church
 Right : Great Angel Michael Statue (Back), Big Wings~!

大天使ミカエル像の戦争記念碑
大天使ミカエルは、神の軍の指揮官なので、

戦士の守り神と信じられています。

なので、この像は戦争記念碑の一部です。

ホント、英国は勝利を示す戦争記念碑が多い...

でもこれは天使なので素敵！

私にとっては、ミカエルは三大天使の一人です。
あとの二人はラファエルとガブリエル。
私が最も好きなのは、旅人の守護神であり、癒しの神 (天使ですが)
ラファエルです〜！

ちなみにミカエルはなぜか、お菓子の守護聖人でもあります。

 Michael Archangel Statue of the War Memorial

 Michael Archangel is the commander of the Army of God,

and they believe Michael is the patron saint of the warrior.

So the statue is a part of the War Memorial.

Actually Britain has many war memorials for victories....

But this is the angel, lovely!

For me Michael is one of three great angels.

Other two are Raphael and Gabriel.

I most like Raphael, who is the patron saint of travellers as well as a healing God. 

By the way, Michael Archangel is the patron of sweets.

St. Chad's Church is in front of the main gate of the Quarry.

クオリー ロッジ 
正門の隣はクオリー ロッジ。可愛らしい建物ですね。
シュルーズベリ園芸協会の本部になっています。

Quarry Lodge
The Quarry Lodge is next to the main gate. It is a sweet building, isn't it?
This is the main office of the Shrewsbury Horticultural Society.

鉄製品

この美しい柵門はイングランド中部/ Midlands の鉄製品の良い例で、
コールブルックデール / Coalbrookdale 村で作られました。

この村はアイアンブリッジ峡谷にあります。

この峡谷はセンヴァーン川によって作られ、

もとはセヴァーン峡谷と呼ばれていました。

その峡谷には世界で初めて作られたアーチ型の鉄橋(鋳鉄橋)の
アイアン ブリッジ があります。
その周辺 ( アイアンブリッジ ) が世界遺産になったので、

アイアンブリッジ峡谷という呼び名がより一般化されたようです。

翌日、私たちはアイアンブリッジ峡谷に行きました。

Ironwork

These beautiful gates and railings are good examples of fine Midlands ironwork, 

made at Coalbrookdale which is in the Ironbridge Gorge.

The gorge was made by the River Severn and originally 

it was called Severn Gorge.

There is the Iron bridge which is the first arch bridge in the world 

to be made of cast iron and the area : Ironbridge is in the list of World Heritage Site.

So the name of Ironbridge Gorge is more well known.

We visited there the next day.

皇太后の庭 / Queen Mother Garden

クオリーロッジの並びに皇太后:
エリザベス・ボーズ＝ライアン (1900 - 2002)
の庭があります。

The Garden of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother (1900 - 2002) 
is beside the Lodge.  

英国は薔薇の国ですね。多くの場所にバラ園があり、ここも。
しかも、皇太后の名前が付いています。

Britain is Rose Country, isn't it? There are many rose gardens and here too, 
on top of having the Queen Mother's name.
