'アイアンブリッジ' / 'Ironbridge' は集落で、
'アイアン ・ブリッジ' / 'Iron Bridge' は橋の名前、
'アイアンブリッジ峡谷' / 'Ironbridge Gorge'は、
セヴァーン川によって作られた峡谷。

Ironbridge is a settlement.
The 'Iron Bridge' is a bridge.
Ironbridge Gorge is a deep gorge formed by the River Severn.

シュルーズベリからロンドンへ帰る途中、'アイアン・ブリッジ' / the Iron Bridge に行きました。

前日の晩(8日)に、突然決めたので、リサーチをよくしていずに向い、目的の駐車場には到着できませんでした。

けれども、アイアン・ブリッジを訪れる際に、主に使用される駐車場にはたどり着けたので、まあ、良しとしましょう。

"アイアンブリッジ (Iron Bridge) とは、イングランド中西部シュロップシャー州の

アイアンブリッジ峡谷において、集落アイアンブリッジからセヴァーン川に

架けられた橋で世界初の鋳鉄製のアーチ橋である。

コールブルックデール橋とも呼ばれる。

1779年に建築され、なお現存している。長さは約 60 m である。

アイアンブリッジは、建築家トーマス・プリチャードによって設計され、

製鉄業者エイブラハム・ダービーによって施工された。

橋は、もともとは鉄や石炭・石灰石を川の対岸へ輸送するために使用されていた。

現在では歩行者だけが橋を渡れる。

1986年、アイアンブリッジを含むアイアンブリッジ峡谷はユネスコによって
世界遺産に登録された。"

We went to the Iron Bridge on our way from Shrewsbury to London. 

We suddenly decided it at night on 8th just before the day, I did not research well 

and then we did not get our ideal car park.

However, normally people visit the bridge and use a car park which  is closer, 

so well... it was alright.

"The Iron Bridge is a bridge that crosses the River Severn in Shropshire, England. 

Opened in 1781, it was the first arch bridge in the world to be made of cast iron, and was greatly celebrated after construction owing to its use of the new material.

In 1934 it was designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument and closed to vehicular traffic. 

Tolls for pedestrians were collected until 1950, when ownership of the bridge was transferred to Shropshire County Council. 

It now belongs to Telford and WrekinBorough Council. 

The bridge, the adjacent settlement of Ironbridge and the Ironbridge Gorge form the UNESCO Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site."

アイアン・ブリッジを探している途中で見かけた橋
While we looked for the Iron Bridge we saw this bridge.

駐車場に車を置いて、アイアン・ブリッジまでは徒歩10分弱を歩きます。
セヴァーン川がゆったりと流れています。
ここはシュルーズベリのセヴァーン川の下流になります。

We left our car at the car park and walked to the Iron Bridge less than 10 minutes.
The River Severn flows lazily.
Here is the River Severn is lower than in Shrewsbury.

あいかわらず、散形花序 (サンケイカジョ)の花の写真を撮り続けています。
I continue taking the photographs of the flower of umbel form as ever.

見えてきました。/ It is Coming.

クオリー公園の門 (下記) を思い出します。
その門は、この峡谷の村で作られました。
この橋のレール柵もきっとこの峡谷産だと思います。

It reminds me of the gate of Quarry Park : below.
The gate was made in a village in this gorge.
I believe these railings were made in this gorge.

橋を作ったときの何かなのでしょうけれど、確認してきませんでした。
I guess this is something for making the bridge, I did not confirm there.

メルシャン ウエイの道標
私がこれを撮影した理由はケルティック戦士らしいオブジェだったからです。
メルシャン・ウェイ / Mercian Way は、
ソールズベリー/ Salisbury から チェスター / Chester までの、
長さ370kmのサイクル・コースです。(徒歩もOK) 
古代アングロ・サクソンのメルシア / Mercia王国を通過するので、
その名前がつきました。
道標はケルティック戦士でなく、サクソン戦士なのでした。

ちなみにアングロ・サクソン人がケルト系ブルトン人を駆逐したのです。

Waymarker of Mercian Way
I photographed this because it looks like the object of the Celtic warrior.
The Mercian Way is a 230 miles long cycle path,
 runs from Salisbury to Chester. (Walkers can use)
The path passes through what was once
the ancient Anglo-Saxon Kigdom of Mercia, so the name came from it.
The waymarker is not Celtic but Saxon warrior.
By the way, Anglo-Saxons drove away Celtic Britons.

川辺の家 / The House Beside the River

アイアンブリッジ発電所の冷却塔が見えます。
アイアンブリッジ発電所は水力発電所かなと一瞬思いますよね。
でも火力発電所。
2015年閉鎖と聞きましたが...今、どうなっているのでしょう？

I can see the cooling towers of Ironbridge Power Stations.
In a instant we think the Ironbridge Power Stations are
 hydroelectric power stations, don't we?
But they are thermal power stations.
I heard it is closed in 2015....what is happening nowadays?

峡谷博物館
アイアンブリッジにはいくつかの博物館グループがあり、ここもそのひとつ。
