1) 鎌倉山の紅葉 

    Autumn Colours in Kamakurayama

A. バス通り / Bus Street

鎌倉山に夫婦池公園 (メオトイケコウエン) があります。

夫婦と名付けられたのは、2つの池：上池・下池があるからです。

鎌倉山に住み始めた当時から、それほどこの家が遠くないことは知っていましたし、バス通りから降りて行くとそこへ行くことも知っていました。

ですが、私は行ったことがなく、この日初めて行きました。

夫Rは別のルートから池には行ったことがありましたが、家から歩いてゆくのは彼にも初めてのことでした。

バス通りにある夫婦池公園の入り口までの紅葉を見つつ、歩きました。

バス通りは狭いので明確な歩道が整備されていず、そこを歩く間、ずっと車に気をつけてなければならないので、紅葉は見ることができても、楽しむまでには気を許すことができません。

それがちょっと残念なことです。

Bus Street

There is the Meoto-ike Park : Married Couples Pond Park in Kamakurayama.

It was named a Married Couples because there are two ponds : upper pond and lower pond.

From the time I started living in Kamakurayama, I knew that our house wasn't too far away, and I knew that when I get off the bus street, I could go there.

However, I had never been there and went there for the first time on this day.

My husband R had been to the pond from another route, but it was the first time for him to walk from home.

I walked while looking at the autumn leaves all the way to the entrance of Married Couples Pond Park on the bus street.

Because the bus street is narrow, there are no clear pavements, and I have to be careful of cars all the time while walking, so I can see the autumn leaves, but I can not really enjoy.

That's a little disappointing.

入り口付近から江ノ島灯台が見えました。

I could see the lighthouse of Enoshima Island :

from near the entrance.

'鎌倉山記' 碑
Rはこの石碑の周りを回って興味ありげに見上げていました。
日本語が読めないので何が書いてあるかはわからないけれど、
立派な石碑なので興味があったのでしょう。
私は、'鎌倉山記'と題されているところから
鎌倉山の歴史が説明されているのかと推測しました。
後になって、この碑には、鎌倉山の由来が、
平安時代の末から綴られていることがわかりました。

ですが平安時代の '鎌倉山' は、'鎌倉の山' の意味で

ここだけのことではないように思います。

ここが '鎌倉山' と呼ばれるようになったのは、

住宅地が開発された昭和初期です。

'Kamakurayama-ki' Monument

R went around this stele and looked up with interest.

He can't read Japanese so he doesn't know what is written, but

it's a magnificent stone monument, so I think he was interested.

I guessed that the history of Kamakurayama was explained 

from the place entitled 'Kamakurayama-ki' ; 'Kamakurayama record'.

Later, I found out that the origin of Kamakurayama from the end of the Heian period is spelled out in this monument.

However, "Kamakurayama" in the Heian period means

 mountains in Kamakura and I think it is not the only one here.

Here became called 'Kamakurayama' in the early Showa period 

when the residential area was developed.

2) '森のさんぽ道' / 'Forest Walkway'

予想外に急なので少し驚きました。

I was a little surprised because it was unexpectedly steep.

家の近くにこんなところがあったことに嬉しい驚きを感じました。
そして、鎌倉山は、'山' なのだという認識を強めました。

I was pleasantly surprised that

 there was such a place near our house.

And my recognition strengthened that

 Kamakurayama is indeed a 'mountain'.

Looking Back Towards 'Entrance of Kamakurayama'

形状が面白いです。
The shape is interesting.

自然にこれだけ残っているのか、
管理者(庭師)さんが残しているのかわかりませんが、
この場の良いポイントになっています。

I don't know if this is left naturally or
if the keeper (gardener) left it,
 but it's a good point here.

道が平坦になり、先ほどの急勾配が嘘のようです。

The path becomes flat and
I cannot believe the steep slope seems to be just behind.

山の雰囲気は、すぐに終わってしまい、ここは、奥深い山ではないと知らされます。

The atmosphere of the mountain ends quickly and I had to realize that this is not a deep mountain.

木の歩道で迂回路が作られ、'お楽しみ' を増やしています。

A detour is created on the wooden sidewalk to increase 'enjoyment'.

ここは少し開けた場所なので、一息つくにも良いし、座って周囲を観察するのにも適しているのだと思います。

Here is a little open place, so I think it's a good place to take a break and to sit down and observe the surroundings.
