⓮Coonie's Exhibition, Looking for Light (光を求めて), 2019 - 総括の本 / Exhibition Summary Book

磁器とリトグラフ作品の展示。
何かを求めて生き、旅や冒険をし、作品を制作します。
今回は、その何かは、光。

On display : Works in Porcelain and Lithographs.
While I live I am searching for something,

1) アップルブック / Apple Book

10年以上も利用していたアップルのプリント本が昨年9月でサービスをやめてしまいました。

私はそれを知らずに、ゴールデン・ウィークの殆どの時間を費やし、アップルPCのソフトで、個展の総括本の編集をしました。

その時の私のPCでは、なんの警告も案内もなく、以前の通り、編集でき、購入の段階まで行ってしまいました。

購入できないので、ネット検索をして、ようやく、サービス中止を知りました。

「私の労力と時間を返して〜！」

この詐欺にあったような気持ちにさせるPCの過程は、ひどすぎる！

ここまで編集して購入できません。(涙!)
Even though it was possible to edit, as before, and to proceed to purchase,
I couldn't complete the purchase. (Tears!)

Apple Book

I had used Apple's printed books for more than 10 years, although they stopped the service last September.

While I didn't know about it, I spent most of my time in Golden-Week editing my Exhibition summary book.

On my PC at that time, without any warning or guidance, as before, I could proceed to purchase after having edited.

However, they did not allow the purchase, I did searches by Internet and finally found out that the service had been discontinued.

“Return my efforts and time ~!”

The process gave me a feeling of having been swindled, it was too terrible.

2) アップルストアで / In Apple Store

この件で、表参道のアップルストアーに3度も通い、最終日は、ハードの技術エキスパート、続いてソフトのエキスパートと一緒に、合計2時間を費やしましたが、アップル推奨の米国のプリント会社への発注はできませんでした。

私は途中で、頭がクラクラし、ちょっと泣きそうにもなってしまいました。

アップルのエキスパートが戸惑いながら、時間をかけながら進める過程に、私が彼らなしで注文できるはずがありません。

エキスパート曰く、米国のプリント会社への発注のサポートは、別会社のことなので、本来彼らの仕事ではなく、私への好意でしてくださっているのだそうです。

それは、どうもありがとうございます！

ですが、PC上で何の通達もなく、ブックを編集して購入まで導かれた客の私の立場としたら、そのサポートは当然に感じますけれど...。

エキスパートがネット検索すると、バグが多く、それを取り扱う日本の窓口がないので、苦情を伝えたり、サポートを受けたりするには、英語でメールを使用することしか現在できないと言うことが判明しました。

アップル推奨のプリント会社の編集ソフトを最初から利用すれば、問題はかなり減るのはないかとは推測しましたし、エキスパートもそう言いましたが、すでにアップルのソフトで編集を終えている私には、慰めにもなりません。

ストアーを出る時に、上層部に変わって、二人のエキスパートに向かって、捨て台詞を吐かせていただきましたが、それくらいは許されると思いますよ。

In this case, I went to the Apple store in Omotesando three times, and on the last day, I spent a total of two hours with a technical expert on hardware and then an expert on software, but it was not possible to order from a US printing company which is recommended by Apple.

In this time I felt dizzy and was almost about to cry a little.

The Apple experts were puzzled and it took them a lot of time for the process of moving my data to the other company, of course I can't order from their recommended print company using Apple PC without them.

As the experts said, "Basically our supporting you for ordering from the US printing company, is not our job, because the print company is a different company from ours : Apple, therefore, this is our favour to you."

Indeed, thank you so much!

However, I am one of your customers who was led on to the point of purchase without any notification on the PC, I felt that support was rightful....

One of the experts researched by Internet, and confirmed that there are so many bugs in moving data to the print company and that there is no Japanese contact point to handle it, we can only use email in English to send complaints and for receiving support.

I guessed that if I had used the editing software recommended by Apple from the beginning (the expert suggested like this, too), it would have reduced the problem considerably, however, I had already finished editing by Apple PC, now knowing of this way was not a comfort for me...

When I left the store, I gave a parting shot to the two experts instead of the upper ranks, though I think that much could be forgiven by your God.

3) 前進 / Progress

自分のPCがバージョンアップができたり、エキスパートに、今まで知らなかったテクニックをPCについてもi-phoneについても教われたことは有意義でした。

二人のエキスパートも忍耐強く、PC音痴の私に長い時間、お付き合いいただいたことにも感謝しています。

結果的に、アップルの"写真"のデータを利用しながら、日本の会社 : Vistaprint で、編集し発注することになりました。

Vistaprint は完璧な英語版のサイトも持っていたので、外資系の会社なのかもしれません。

が、もちろん完璧な日本語サイトと日本語の電話サポートもあります。

Vistaprintの '自由な編集' を選択すると、アップルよりもずっと詳細の変更が可能です。

ですが、この編集するときも、エキスパートに教わったことが役に立ちました。

アップルブックがあったおかげで、今の編集技術までたどり着けましたし、Vistaprintで本も作ることができした。

今まで作ったアップルブックは、大切な記録本です。

なので、総合的には、

「アップルさん、今までどうもありがとう!」

です。

Vistaprintでサンプルブックを制作しました。

一番の難は、紙質、アップルブックよりは厚い、"コート紙" で、私には野暮ったい印象があります。

DMや名刺によく使用される一般的なもので、悪くはありません。

ですがこの紙は、本のサイズになると、環境の影響をすぐに受け、紙がすぐに波打ちます。

紙を選択できるように改善してくれると嬉しいですが、今回は、間に合いませんね。

これらはサンプル本:1~3冊です。
気持ちの切り替えの為に表紙の写真をアップルブックから変えてみました。
でも、やっぱり、以前の方がインパクトが感じられて、現在、
元の写真を使用した新しいサンプル到着を待っています。

These are the 1st ~ the 3rd sample books.
I did change the cover photograph from the apple book
to change my feeling.
But after all that, the impact was felt earlier,
and now, I am waiting for a new sample to arrive which uses the original cover.

Progress

However, the visits to the Apple store were worthwhile to be able to upgrade the version of my PC, and to be taught by experts both about the PC and the i-phone.

The two experts were also patient for a long time and thank you for having me who has had no sense of PC direction.

As a result, I decided to edit and place an order at a Japanese company: Vistaprint, using data from Apple's "Photograph".

Vistaprint also had a perfect English-language site, so it may be a foreign-owned company.

But of course there is also a perfect Japanese site and Japanese phone support.

With Vistaprint 'Free Editing', I can change much more than with Apple.

However, Apple experts were also useful, being able to tell me new ways of editing.

Thanks to the Apple book, I could reach the current editing techniques and could make books using Vistaprint.

The Apple books are that I made so far are important record books.

So, overall,

"Apple, thank you so much so far!"

I worked on sample books by Vistaprint in Japanese (★ in English).

The most difficult thing is the paper quality, they use "Coated Paper" which is thicker than Apple Book paper, and it has a vague impression for me.

Coated Paper commonly used for postcards and business cards, it is not bad.

However, when this paper reaches the size of a book, it is immediately affected by the environment, and the paper waves quickly.

I'm glad if they improve the paper selection, but this time I cannot alter it.

4) 4冊目のサンプル本 / The Fourth Sample Book

アップルのPCで編集した本の表紙 (上の画像)を Vistaprintで編集する際に変更しました。

が3冊のサンプルを得た後に、また、元の表紙に戻しました (下の画像)。

4冊目・6月7日到着
4冊目になっても、まだスペルミスをしていました。
ですが、スペルミスをしたまま複数の注文をしてしまいました。
一度注文を確定すると、キャンセルはできません
たとえ、注文直後でも、画面で”処理中"出会っても
キャンセルできません。
スペルミスを修正した1冊をギャラリー412に直接配送の手配をしました。
