| 吉屋信子記念館の門 2016年5月31日撮影 31日にここを通って、6月2日が開いていることを知りました。 The Gate of Yoshiya Nobuko Memorial Museum in Kamakura Photograph 31st of May 2016 I knew the gate would be open on 2nd of June. |
何度も、吉屋信子記念館 : ★ の前は通っていました。
ですが、一度もその門が開いていたことはありませんでした。
I passed the Memorial Museum in Kamakura (★) quite often, although I had never seen the gate open.

吉屋信子記念館 は、作家、吉屋信子 (1896 - 1973) が晩年住んでいた家で、彼女の
遺志によって鎌倉市に寄贈されました。

私はこの作家の作品を読んだことはありませんし、鎌倉へ来る前までは名前さえも知りませんでした。
鎌倉在住後、鎌倉市のパンフレット(★)や、ウィキペディアや他のネット情報で付け焼き刃程度のことを得てはいました。
この記念館やお庭はとても素敵なのですが、なんとなく、彼女の作品には苦手感を持ってしまい、読む気がしません。
＜田辺聖子 (1928 -) が吉屋信子のファンで、私がまた田辺聖子作品が苦手であるというのもその気持ちを後押しします....田辺聖子ファンの方、ごめんなさい＞
そうですね〜、私はファンタジー文学が好きなので、その世界とは違うものを彼女の作品世界に感じているからでしょう。(読みもしないのに、すみません）
ですが、彼女の人生もしくは彼女自身は、魅力的であると感じます。
彼女は高校生のときに、新渡戸稲造 (ニトベイナゾウ/ 1862-1933) の講演の中の
「良妻賢母よりも一人の人間としての女性の完成」
という言葉を聞き、感銘を受けます。
そこから彼女の文学者になる道が始まります。
多額の印税を得た際には、生涯のパートナーである門馬千代 (モンマチヨ / ? - ?) と約1年渡欧します。
当時、男性中心の文学界で、女流作家として道を開き成功したこと、同性愛者として生き抜いたこと、競馬を愛し馬主であったこと、その他、様々なエピソード(★ / ★)に、心惹かれます。

Yoshiya Nobuko Memorial Museum in Kamakura : ★ was donated to Kamakura city in compliance with the novelist Nobuko Yoshiya (1896 - 1973)'s dying wishes, who lived here later in life.

I haven't read the novelist's work and I hadn't even heard her name before living in Kamakura.
After living in Kamakura, I just got information about her which I read from the pamphlet, Japanese Wikipedia and so on in Internet.
This Museum and the garden are lovely, although somehow I guess I would dislike her work, so I would not read her books.
[Seiko Tanabe (1928 -) is a fan of Nobuko Yoshiya and I am difficult for Seiko Tanabe's works which reinforces my guessing. Sorry to Tanabe's fans.]
Well, I love 'Fantasy Literature', so I might feel the worlds are different from
Yoshiya's world. (I haven't read her works, although I say like this, sorry.)
However, I feel her life or her personality are attractive.
When she was a high-school student, she listened to a lecture
by Nitobe Inazō (1862-1933),
"As women you should aim to be complete human beings rather than just 'a good wife and a wise mother'."
and she was impressed.
After then she set out to become a literary person.
When she got a lot of royalties from her works, she went to Europe for about one year with her lifetime partner, Chiyo Monma (?-?).
At that time, literature was a men's world, although she made her pioneering way as a woman novelist and she succeeded, she lived throughout as a homosexual, she loved horse races, she was a horse owner, these and other anecdotes captured me.

1894 -1974)、1962。
吉屋信子が66歳のときに
「奈良にある尼寺のように」
と希望して吉田
五十八が設計しました。
雑念にとらわれず、静かに仕事に集中したいという彼女の思いを感じます。
現在、私も鎌倉の山で作品制作をしています。
推測ではあるものの、彼女のその思いと似たようなものがあると思います。

Yoshiya was 66 years old she requested Yoshida

and he redesigned the house.
I
feel her thought that she wanted to concentrate on her work calmly.

I have made my works on a Mountain, Kamakura.
I just guess her thought, although I think I have a similar thought to her thought.  |

そちらは、柳宗悦自身が設計しています。
They say "The idea is that the eye-level of people sitting on chairs in the western room is the same as people sitting on tatami in the Japanese room."
I remember that the technique is also used in the former Yanagi Sōetsu (1889 - 1961) house, nowadays 'The Japan Folk Crafts Museum- West Annex'.
The house was designed by Yanagi Sōetsu.

吉屋信子が家を丸ごと10mほど後ろに下げて、より広い庭をつくりました。
リラックスできるスペースに感じました。

and made her main garden larger.

吉屋信子記念館を後に、由比ヶ浜通りに出ました。
そこで、ツバメの巣を見つけました。
チビチャンたちは静かに親鳥の帰りを待っています。
After Yoshiya Nobuko Memorial Museum, we went to
Yuigahama Street and I found a swallow's nest.
The little darlings are waiting for their parents to come back
and they stay quiet.
 きゃ〜、親鳥が来たとたんに、このさわぎ！ Give me~! Wow! Just as their parent returned, they were excited like this! |
