1) 花めぐりの里 / Fuji-Hanameguri-no-Sato

花めぐりの里は2016年7月23日にオープンしたばかりでしたが、私達が行ったときは、すでにシーズンの終わりだったので、花があまり見られませんでした。

コキアくらいですね。

その上、霧も出ていました。

ただ、その霧のおかげで、私は、道中、ミステリアスで素敵な、ファンタジーの世界にいるように感じました。



Fuji-Hanameguri-no-Sato

Fuji-Hanameguri-no-Sato (Flower Tour on Mt. Fuji) had just opened on 23rd of July, 2016, although when we went there it was the end of season, so we did not see good flowers.

Only 'Kokia' was alright.

Moreover, there was mist.

However, thank you to the mist, I could feel I was in a mysterious and a lovely Fantasy World on our way there.

According to 'TIC Tokyo' website, below

"Between the summer and autumn, Zinnia, sunflower, cluster amaryllis and Kokia will spread all over this garden. 
They rent automatic driving carts (set ticket / 1,000 yen for adult , 700 yen/child from 3 years old). 
There is also a place which dog can run. All of your familly, everyone can enjoy there."

標高1,200ｍの富士山2合目にあります。
Here is altitude : 1,200m, and the second stage of Mt, Fuji.

コキア / Kokia : Bassia Scoparia 

コキア 

コキアの実は秋田県の郷土料理「とんぶり」(下の写真)の材料、

最近では'畑のキャビア'または'山のキャビア'と呼ぶようです。

Kokia's  fruit is an ingredient of Tonburi (below),

which is Akita Prefecture's local cooking,

nowadays people seem to call it 'Field Caviar' or 'Mountain Caviar'.

About Tonburi from Wiki 

In Japan the seeds are used a food garnish called tonburi  (Japanese). 

Because its texture is similar to caviar, it has been called 

"land caviar", "field caviar", and "mountain caviar". 

It is a chinmi, or delicacy, in Akita prefecture. "

以前は、この草を乾燥させて箒を作っていたそうです。

形が、もう、箒....そう思いませんか？

Japanese name is Houki-gusa. 

'Houki' means 'broom'.

I heard this plant was dried and made into brooms in the past,

though the form already looks like a broom...

Don't you think so too?
