とっても魅力的な町です！

12th of July, 2019 and we stayed there for 3 nights.
The
four of us visited Bridgnorth on 14th, 2019 where we also visited in 2017.
Bridgnorth
is a city in Shropshire (See above) with the longest river in Britain, the River
Severn, running through the middle.
The city name came from a bridge over the River Severn.
It is a very attractive town!

2017年には、クリフ・レールウエイには乗ることができましたが、セヴァーン谷鉄道の蒸気機関車には乗る時間がありませんでした。
今回、J&Sが、蒸気機関車の日帰り旅行を私たちのために計画してくれていました。

崖上の公園から見て、次回は蒸気機関車に乗りたいと思いました。

In 2017, I was able to get on the Cliff Railway, but I didn't have the time to get on the Severn Valley Railway Locomotive.
This time, J&S had made a day trip plan of steam locomotives for us.

Bridgnorth Railway Station is a station on the Severn Valley Railway heritage line.
Unfortunately the Shrewsbury - Bridgnorth section was closed, and currently the Bridgnorth Railway Station is the northern terminus.
The station is also home to the main engine shed.

2) セヴァーン谷鉄道 / Severn
Valley Railway
セヴァン谷鉄道の開通は1862年、ロンドン万博の年でした。
運営会社が変わったり、開通路線が変わったり、旅客よりも貨物輸送がメインになったり、閉鎖また開通があったりしつつ、1963年に閉鎖され、ブリッジノースの北側の線路は解体されました。
1970年、保存メンバーのグループの活動によって、ブリッジノースとハンプトンロード/ Hampton
Loade の間で運行ができるようになりました。
1974年に、路線は、ビュードリー/ Bewdleyまで延長され、さらに、1984年、キダーミンスター
/ Kidderminster まで開通したのです。
現在、セヴァン谷鉄道は、保存鉄道として運営されています。
日本には、まだ、保存鉄道というものがありません。

"保存鉄道とは、一般的な営業路線として運営されていた鉄道路線について、路線の廃止が決まった場合や既に路線が廃止された場合に、ボランティアによってその路線の運行を引き継ぎ、もしくはその路線を復活させ、運行をしている鉄道路線のことである。
主にボランティア（基本的にはその路線のファンを中心とする団体）により運行を行っている点で、廃止路線を地元自治体などが引き継いで運行する場合とは異なる。"

保存鉄道として復活させるためには、ボランティアとしての心意気や労力だけでなく、多額の資金も必要となるので、なかなか難しいことだと思います。
それを英国は100以上実現しているそうなので、驚きます。
裕福層のお金の使い方が違ったり、現実的な利益だけを求めない人々の数が多かったり、古いものへの誇りが高かったりするからでしょうか？
英国人、リチャード・トレビシック / Richard Trevithick (1771 -1833) が蒸気機関車を発明し、その後も英国において進歩させてきたという、英国人の誇りが蒸気機関車にはあり、したがって、蒸気機関車を維持しようという心意気が他の国とは比べ物にならないくらい強いからなのかもしれません。
英国人、リチャード・トレビシック / Richard Trevithick (1771 -1833) が蒸気機関車を発明し、その後も英国において進歩させてきたという、英国人の誇りが蒸気機関車にはあり、したがって、蒸気機関車を維持しようという心意気が他の国とは比べ物にならないくらい強いからなのかもしれません。
日本には日本の素晴らしいところはたくさんあり、私は日本が好きですが、英国の保存鉄道やナショナル・トラストなどの活動は英国の素晴らしさをとても感じます。

Severn Valley Railway
The opening of the Severn Valley Railway was in 1862, the year of Great London Exposition.
The
company was closed in 1963, and the railway north of Bridgnorth
was dismantled, and while the operating company changed, freight transport became more than passenger services, and
there were closures and openings.
In
1970, a group of Conservation Members made it possible to operate
between Bridgnorth and Hampton Loade.
In
order to revive as a heritage line, not only willingness and
effort of volunteers, but also a large amount of funding will be
required, so it is quite difficult.
I'm
surprised that Britain has more than 100 of them.
Are
wealthy people using their money differently and many people don't
want only real benefits and are they proud of the old?
The British people who know about steam locomotives are proud that
Richard Trevithick (1771-1833) invented the steam locomotive and made progress in Britain, therefore the spirit of maintaining the steam locomotives, may be because the pride is so strong that it cannot be compared with other countries.

Japan has many great things, and I like
Japan, but activities such as heritage lines and
the National Trust in Britain make me feel great about Britain.

| フレンドリーなスタッフ コンパートメントに車掌さんが来ました。 私は切符を切ることろを撮影したかったのですが しそびれてしまいました。 けれども、彼は私の希望にそって、 明るい通路まで来てくれて、切るポーズを取ってくれ。 とても嬉しかった！ ありがとうございました！

A guard came to our compartment.
I wanted to photograph that he punched a ticket,
although I missed.
However, he followed my hope that
he came to a bright passage and took a pose to cut.
I was very happy!
