I had a day trip by steam locomotives of "Severn Valley Railway : ★" with our friends J&S, my husband R.

The Severn Valley Railway is a heritage line in Shropshire and Worcestershire, and connects Bridgnorth Railway Station to Kidderminster Railway Station.
We got on at Bridgnorth Railway Station and got off at Bewdley Railway Station.

一部では森林破壊が進んでいるようですが、ワイヤー森林は、英国で残っている最大の天然林地帯の一つです。
そこでは、複数種の鳥 ; (英名と日本名を照らし合わせましたが正確かどうか？)

カワガラス/ Dipper,
ムシクイ類 / Wood Warbler,
ヒワ (イスカ) / Common,
Crossbill, ヒタキ ,
Spotted Flycatcher ,
Pied Flycatcher,

や、他の動植物を見ることができます。
天然林は、主に自然の力によって成り立った森林ですが、人の手が入っていないということではありません...ということを今、私は知りました。
全く人の手が入っていない森林は原生林と呼ばれます。
ワイヤー森林は、天然林です。

Bewdley is
a small Georgian town along the River
Severn,
in the Wyre
Forest District of Worcestershire.
Wyre Forest is a large, semi-natural woodland and forest measuring 26.34 square ㎢ and Bewdley fronts the egde of the Forest.
Deforestation seems to be progressing in some places, though it is one of the largest remaining ancient woodland in Britain.
We can find some bird species in the forest including Hawfinch, Dipper, Wood Warbler, Common Crossbill, Spotted Flycatcher, Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, Long-eared owl, and among many other woodland animals and plants.
Now I know that an ancient woodland has come about mainly by the power nature, though it does not mean it is not completely untouched by people.
Forests that are completely untouched are called an old-growth forest.
Wyre Forest is the ancient woodland.

It may not have been good for the forest,
though I think that the scenery
from the locomotive window would have given us peace.

 ビュードゥリーの町の地図 ビュードゥリー駅は、セヴァーン川 / River Severn の東岸に位置しています。 地図の上が東、下が西になります。 駅は地図の右上になります。 Bewdley Railway Station is located on the Eastern bank of the River Severn.

 今なら "ドクター・フ ー / Doctor Who"(1963 ~/ BBC)を連想しますか？ ちなみに日本の私達の家にはTVがないので、日本では見ていません。 Do you associate this call box with "Doctor Who" (1963 ~/ BBC) now? Today the Drama is broadcast in Japan, too. By the way, our Japanese house does not have TV, so we haven't watched it in Japan. |
