2006年のアイルランド旅行の際に使用したマップとグーグルでリサーチしたマップを頼りに、時々道を間違えつつも、ようやく、目指す
'クロンマクノイズ / Clonmacnoise'に到着しました。
クロンマクノイズは城の遺跡だとばかり思っていましたら、メインの見所は
ケルト十字の墓地で驚きました。

もうひとつ驚いたのが、数多くの観光バスが到着していたこと。
ここまでくる道路は道幅が狭く、田舎道なのです。
どうやってあのバスはやってきたのかと訝しく思いました。
そういえば、鎌倉も狭い道を市バスは走っていました...、それでも、やっぱり、この周辺の道は狭い.....バスの運転手さんの運転技術はすごいな〜と変なところで関心しました。
私達がクロンマクノイズを去った時には違う道を利用しました。
そちらはやや幅が広かったので、おそらく、こちらの道を観光バスは利用したのだろうと思いました。

| たくさんの観光バス / Many Coaches |
Depending
on the maps which we used to travel in Ireland in 2006 and my research on Google, while we mistook the way sometimes, eventually we arrived at our intended purpose, 'Clonmacnoise'.
I
thought that 'Clonmacnoise' was mainly the ruins of the castle, although I was
surprised, because their main feature is the cemetery of Celtic Crosses.
Another
surprise was that a lot of sightseeing buses had arrived.
The
roads to here are narrow country roads.
I wondered how the buses got here...
At that time, I thought Oh! Yes! In Kamakura, even though roads are narrow local buses manage, however, still I wondered, because the roads are narrower than Kamakuras'.
I felt admiration for all coach drivers whose techniques are great.
When we left there, we used different roads which are slightly less narrow, so I thought they used this route.
I wondered how the buses got here...

ミニ博物館の
'聖書の十字架'
(本物)
900年頃に作られた高さ約4.0mの十字架で、
アイルランドに残されるハイクロスの中で最も美しい十字架。 'Cross of the Scriptures' (genuine article) in the Mini Museum
It
is about 4.0 m in height, made c. 900,
the
most beautiful cross of the high crosses left in Ireland.

クロンマクノイズの遺跡群は、しっかりと保護され、案内所や映像施設、カフェなどが整備されていました。
実は、こうした施設が整っていたのは、ここだけではありませんでした。
2006年の旅行の際にも、遺跡やストーンサークル、ドルメンを訪ねましたが、せいぜい、案内板が建てられている程度で、これほど整備されてはいませんでした。
私が理解していた、これらの環境は、辺鄙なところ、荒涼としたところ、だからこそ、古代のものが、遺跡が残されているのだということでした。
今回、同じ場所には行っていないので、正確に比べることはできません。

Clonmacnoise's group of ruins are securely protected, information stations, visual facilities,
cafes, etc. were well maintained.
It
was not only here but also other ruins or dolmens that such facilities were in place.
During our travels in 2006, we visited ruins, stone circles and
dolmens, but at the most, guide boards were built and not so well
organized.
I understood their circumstances, usually remote, often desolate, that is how the ancient ruins survived.
I
have not been to the same places this time, so I can not compare them exactly.

丘の上に13世紀にノルマン系英国人
(アングロ・ノルマン)
が
築いたクロンマクノイズ城の遺跡があります。There is a ruin of Clonmacnoise Castle on a hill, built in the 13th Century, by Anglo-Norman. |
こちらはあまり管理されていません。
こちらは侵略者、ノルマン系英国人が作った城なので、大事にされていないのかもしれません。
けれども、遺跡らしい遺跡で、造形物としてはとても面白く、私好みです。
This
is not well protected.
However,
this ruin is very ruined, it is very interesting as sculpted objects, and
is my favourite.
お城の麓に桟橋があります。
アスローン からのツアー船もここが離発着するようです。
There is a pier below the castle.
A tour boat from Athlone seems to arrive and depart here.
